We need this in all schools. Major props to the schools that do practice trauma-informed care.

I wanted to cry this video felt so emotional. It should be this way in all schools. They all should have the parent first teacher second attitude. Apparently we have a long way to go before that will happen. All schools should model after this learning guide

I am a special education teacher, this is relevant to my students and other teachers. I will share this video with other teachers. Trauma-informed campuses is crucial for understanding behavior reactions that our students are living through each day is important for a learning environment. Next year, I plan to create a welcoming Peace Corner for my students. I have a student that all he needs is a minute to collect thoughts, I like that there was a scale of how are you feeling, putting words to emotions.

Excellent video. I am going to share this with staff for sure. I like the focus of going from compliance driven to providing an environment where kids feel safe and supported. The Leader In Me curriculum looks like it is a powerful tool to get students to become leaders in their classroom, schools, and communities. I love the Leadership Class and Student Led Clubs. Providing a place in the classroom like a Peace Corner has been used in rooms with students on the autism spectrum. This is a place to just chill as it mentions in the video.I also like the Check In/Check Out opportunity for kids to set goals and earn points keeping track of their progress. It also provides them the confidence of know someone has their back. The video also points out the need to take care of ourselves as educators. If we are not well, we cannot be supportive of our students.

This video is invaluable and can be used in a number of ways. It can be used by an administrator to share with staff what a trauma-informed school looks like. Staff would compare what their current practice to what is shown in the video, the reactions of the staff and students when their socioemotional needs are met and the benefit of treating behavior as a form of communication. Everyone can learn a new behavioral language. These trauma-informed practices align with an RTI framework- Tiers 1 and 2 especially. I use this video in my presentations on equity and adverse childhood experiences.

How important it is to have someone who expects that you will succeed and supports you in that process. Personal relationships of caring.

Everything I do in my classroom as a special education teacher is building trusting relationships with my students and their families. When the ground work is done, students thrive.

Being an open minded person is import. We can not teach our children to overreact to things, because that would put many obstacles and progress in their academic and personal lives, and it is our responsibilities as adults to nurture them in that way. Helping them to be observers, good listeners is important. I live in NJ, do not know the school personally, bu base of the video and the content, I find the school doing an incredible job.

That freaked me out a little too, as someone with both allergies and sensory processing differences around fragrance. I function best in low and fragrance free environments. For a lot of people, fragrance is calming. But for me it can be overwhelming and excluding.

@@ouisieemail4082 I use diffusers in my room and it invites students and teachers to come in and ask, "what's that great aroma?" Most essential oils cause less problems than all the synthetic chemicals people use these days to "clean and deodorize".
