One of my recent favourite Australian drama series is on Acorn TV: "A Place to Call Home". There are five seasons with great actors and a wonderful peek into one aspect of post-war 1950's Australia.

One of my favorite things to do in fall is make pie crust dough. I spent the weekend rendering lard from last years pigs and making a TON of shortening. On Wednesday I will pre make dozens of pie crusts in anticipation of apple and pork pies through the cold weather. Soon it will be the bittersweet time of pig harvest. So grateful to the humble pig. What a great resource they are. 🐷🐽💕

I think your videos are great, what are your kids doing during the peaceful housekeeping? I’ve just had my 3rd baby (I have 3 ages 4 and under) and my life is a wreck. Before #3 my home was so clean, and I was so organized. I really had a good routine down. Now I literally can’t keep up with anything. I know things usually slack a little while the tiny babies can’t be put down, but I just can’t seem to get a grip on the chaos 🤪

I am so excited to make pumpkin butter again this year! It has become an annual favorite with friends. I have no idea on the amounts or even proportions...I lost the recipe years ago and just wing it. Anyway, mix canned pumpkin, apple cider, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice in a Dutch oven and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat, simmer until thick and remove from heat. Let cool, lid off. It will thicken more. You can mix this into coffee for a PSL at home, use it as a dip with Graham crackers, and it is heaven on toast with peanut butter. Please know that it is not recommended for home cooks to can pumpkin butter so whatever you make needs to be refrigerated and consumed within a month. P.S. The house smells amazing when this is cooking!

I love LOVE your woodland china! Oh, how I would love pieces like that! It reminds me of Beatrix Potter, which is so nostalgic for me. Thank you so much for the promo for AcornTV. I have heard about it and I wasn’t sure how much it costs, but I grew up with ALL the Agatha Christie, British BBC and A&E, and I cannot afford to purchase everything separately (think of all the David Suchet seasons of Hercule Poirot!) and I have been yearning for some wholesome British shows to watch. I just haven’t watched anything in ages because so much of it is modern and trashy. The fact that so much of what I love is featured collectively on AcornTV makes me want to get it!!!

So cozy and comforting! Thanks, Jennifer, for sharing your early autumn inspiration with us! I just swapped out my china cabinet recently, incorporating a new-to-me vintage dishes by Steubenville, Woodfield pattern. They were designed by Russell Wright, known for his iconic deeply saturated colors of dusky teal, chartreuse, old rose, dove gray and spruce green. Doesn't matter what I serve on them, they always make me feel like I'm a little girl, playing "house" in my backyard, using oak leaves for plates and acorns for cups.

I hope it isn't rude to ask this on Jennifer's channel, but I had a question to the home-making youtube-watching women out there, and a lot of us seem to gather here. I am in the process of acquiring my first ever antique singer sewing machine (mostly because my modern machine has broken yet again and someone I know has an antique they want to sell). I've also always wanted to make KZbin videos (literally since my teens), have tried a few times, but never really found my niche. My husband suggested to me that I could set up a little studio and film whatever I happen to be sewing, and while I was mulling that over I though perhaps I could do voice-overs of Bible passages, hymns, original writing/songs along with that. I was just curious if any of you here would be interested in such a thing? Any suggestions on the subject? Again, I hope this isn't a rude way to get the opinion of other home-makers out there.

Too short Jennifer. I’m lacking motivation these days and going to watch more of your home making videos to stop being so depressed.

Chrysanthemums are the flower of November. If you follow the flowers of the months! It is my anniversary month and they are in my top trio of favorite flowers, along with roses and peonies.

I really love your homemaking segments! It does inspire me to jump up and change things out things for the season. I don't have very defined seasonal decorations. But I di change things out that look like they are leaning into a new season. Dishes, artwork...bringing out natural grape vine wreaths to decorate with the changing flowers outside etc..

You are such an inspiration! I absolutely adore your videos. I've always loved the idea of changing out my dishes for the season but I've had it in my head that it'd be silly to have that many dishes. 😅 You've changed my mind! I will now be buying dishes to change out for the seasons. ❤️❤️
