Suggestions for fruit trees. Fertilize until August, then stop. Try placing hay at base of trees soon, then once again after first couple of snows. Dual insulating layers. In the spring take the straw off as soon as possible, because it will insulate from the heat as well. Begin fertilizing when the rains begin. Good luck!

I absolutely love both of your dogs. But I have to say bandit holds a special place in my heart. For a dog that's getting up there in age he has the exuberance and playfulness of a puppy, bless him. Every time he gets near the water he makes me belly laugh with that tail wagging so hard it looks like his back and will fall off. Love the videos, keep them up. Now I know where I'll be spending my next life. Alaska!

The cornucopia of hues of color withe backdrop of the majesty of the mountains was breathtaking. Those watermelon berries were so beautiful they looked like jelly beans. Outstanding! Your work with the bees looks to be satisfying even when it doesn't always work out as planned. That sawmill is paying off with your talent and imagination. Who knew ... I get a kick out of all your chickens and all you do to keep them happy and healthy. Fantastic! Berries. Sighting guns. Wheeling in mud and mountains. Flowers in Alaska! Your drone footage is ... glorious! WOW! I eagerly look for your videos and have yet to FFWD any. I wish I had your sense of adventure, confidence, courage and smarts. Too late I've found a passion.

From an old bushman. Your mulch will suck out all your nitrogen from the soil as it breaks down. Stopping growth and strength nitrogen from chook poo will fix that. Potassium for flowers and fruit spread around as from your fire. Always wear ear protection when using loud power tools and eye protection with cutting wood. Got a large splinter in my eye from that and my hearing is damaged. Wear a safety helmet when cutting down trees, had to have part of my face rebuilt from that but it saved my life. I experienced those things. I don’t want you to. Robby AU

Trees take up to at least 7 years before the fruit after planting. Also consider wrapping the saplings in burlap during winter, that might help reduce the stress they can have in very cold temps

Good luck with your bees. After 6 years of having 2 hives they have surcome to the mosquito truck spraying. I decided not to replace them due to this struggle and it is very hot here when it is time to harvest honey. My bees were more cranky than yours and I soon realized that I painfully swell up from being stung, and bee suits are quite steamy in 100 degree weather.
@uptoolate27932 жыл бұрын
They make a waffled bee suit that breaths. You can safely wear nothing but shorts in it if you want. It stays nice and cool. I have one. Also the county will inform ahead of time when they vector spray if you let them know you want to be notified. Close the bees in the night before.

Buy FLO hives. U never have to mess with the bees (there are "knock off" flo hives that are cheaper). Are you sure you dont have Africanized honey bees (when an African drone mates with a honey bee)? bc your bees shld not sting you, thats a bad sign unless it was a one time thing. Ive had a hive become Africanized & I euthanized them, it wasnt safe for pets or people. You shld be able to work with your bees without being stung, altho an accidental sting here or there CAN happen. Barnyard Bees has vids that show this (countless others too.)

The bees in that hive were very calm. That says to me that there was another option. They had already superseded their old queen with a new queen, then had killed the old one and disposed of her. Otherwise, after more than a few minutes without a queen, the hive gets very angry, loud and aggressive. They just didn't sound or act queenless to me.

The only thing I can think of for those fruit trees is maybe to alter their microclimate in the next year. You'll want to consider mulching a bit more, and planting some ground cover and bushes around their bases that will help raise the ambient temperature slightly over winter & into the spring. One thing my landscaping father taught me was how trees could have a slight difference in temperature at their bases because of companion plants & bushes creating little microclimates. Usually this was because of pockets of trapped or at least slowed air that helped keep the plants warmer, as well as darker foliage helping to retain more heat from winter sunlight. IIRC, it's usually a difference of 1-2 degrees Celcius, 3-5 degrees Fahrenheit. Admittedly, that doesn't sound like much, but even a little bit of help can push a plant into a higher temperature growing category. He did say on more than one occasion that roughly every 5 degrees Celcius was a different growth & reaction category for plants. So if they're sitting at 13C, which is the 10C-15C range for plants (50F-59F), and if that was the "produces leaves" category for that particular plant type, then you add 2 degrees, that can push it into the 15C-20C range, (59F-68F), which could be the "produces flowers" stage. He was able to get some plants flowering & fruiting a little earlier because of this...though it did take years for his observations to bear fruit, "...Pun intended," as he once said.
