Congratulations on the new teaching position. No doubt about it you will rise and navigate through all of the “newness” and your knits and this amazing community will be along for the ride to support you! I love the meaning and intention behind the Stella Quilt pillow. It’s going to be gorgeous. Happy Fall Emily! Look forward to hearing how things go with the projects, yarn and life!

Love your plans! The judy sweater has been on my mind ever since I marlene made it. Can't wait to see your version! Also love the tweed yarn you showed and the lace sweater with cotton merino. These are some great plans emily!😊 Wishing you all the best for your back to school journey - I'm a teacher as well, so I really know these feelings too well. It is going to be alright, I'm sure you are a great teacher!😊

So jazzed about your fall knitting plans! Yes to simple, familiar construction heading into this academic year- I'm on that path as well. Thrilled that you are considering using the Norwegian yarn!

I think you will be happy with Patons wool. I used it frequently in the past knitting sweaters, hats and mittens for my children. Hand washes well and wears well. I knit for my 5 children and sweaters were passed down to younger kids, then nieces and nephews.

@@highfiberknits I think it would work because of the classic versatility of the pattern and the popularity of the designer.

I love Patons yarn! It's what I learned to knit with and still use to this day! Surprisingly, it's perfect for socks despite not having nylon! I'm super hard on my socks and used to wear them every day in the winter when I lived in Edmonton and they lasted so so so well.
@highfiberknits5 ай бұрын
That’s great to know! I also have some of the Kroy base that I’m eager to work with in the winter!

Hi! Love your channel! Two quick things - Michaels is one of several stores that offer educator discounts on all purchases - you have to register but it’s very simple to do. Also - I just knit the Framed sweater in Patons Classic Wool worsted and I love it. I wanted to show friends it would look just as lovely in a budget-friendly yarn. Take care and wishing you a great start to school! 💕 Lorien

I really like how my framed turned out - I used the colors Aran and Natural Mix - just two. They are simple but for me, served the “busy” pattern well. It’s been too warm to wear, ofc! 💕Lorien.

I like the look of the Judy Sweater...thank you for bringing it to my attention. One of my current projects is the Book Club Shawl. It's my first time using Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool and it's showing wonderful definition, and I'm liking the feel of it. It's so economical, I'm hoping it wears well

I'm currently using Patons Classic Wool for the Lana Vest by Irene Lin. I blocked mid-project, and the yarn is great. It does soften up a bit and has more drape, as opposed to when you're knitting with it. The cables definitely pop.

@@highfiberknits I think a yearly review would be great! Then we could see and hear how the knits handle after a year or two of wear, in terms of both the yarn combination and the design choice/wardrobe compatibility. I’m stuck in what you called decision paralysis for basically that reason. It’s hard to choose yarns in Canada, specially in Calgary, where there isn’t a lot of selection Nor yarn availability for a sweater. Online choosing makes for colour selection difficulties as well. I made a beautiful sweater for my husband with Brooklyn Tweed and all the hemming is falling apart because the yarn just snaps. These are things for which I wish I had to mom to teach me!

You might add a dollop of vinegar to your soaking water (use cold water) to help set the color and make the yarn for your cushion more color fast.😊

I am excited this fall to continue with stash busting my 40 year old yarn pantry. Plans include a lace and cable cardigan knit (pattern still TBD) with 7 skeins of the Philosophers Wool company natural worsted, and a lace sleeveless vest with 5 skeins of a brown and white 2 ply Icelandic bulky weight yarn (for my mother). I also may cast on a quilted teacosy to use up some very rustic but colourful wool. Also still working on finishing projects from spring and summer. By next year, I hope to be up to pretty much up to date.

These plans all sound so lovely! Paul’s love to know what pattern you plan to use (if any) for the tea cozy 😁

It’s a pattern that my neighbour received from a mail knitting course sold by Hachette publishing. The pattern is named “Couvre théière en jaquard” and is a colour work pattern requiring 5 colours. I have only 2, a bright yellow and a variegated that has very long transitions that run from pink to mustard to orange. Still debating, but the yarn is a bit rustic and the colours do not suit me very well, so will probably go there. Also added some gift knits to my fall plans so will move this to winter.

i use a bunny-style bag ( like sandy by the lakeside but i sewed/drafted it myself) so I can knit and walk/stand with a 9" circular and a sock. I just tie the top like a loop and then stick my wrist through, because i also cant always get a seat on my morning commute!

Both are pattern for the #knitpatchworkkal that I’m hosting here and on my Instagram. It’s just started and will run until the end of November so you could definitely enter with your Stella Quilt Cushion. Good luck in your new job. Best wishes, Laura x
