You should go on The Grass Factor and teach them the Fall Nitrogen Blitz.

Did the blitz last fall and it worked great. But you confused me by saying pre-emergence before temp hits 70? Lawn temp is going down in the fall , not up?
@TheDIYLawnCoachАй бұрын
Thanks for watching. I appreciate you leaving a comment. Yes we want a pre emergent watered into the soil before soil temperature fall to 70 degrees. Soil temperatures in the summer are higher than 70. If you want to stop Poa Annua in the spring, you have to have pre emergent in the soil prior to soil temperatures reaching 70. Apologize if I confused you.

I picked this up last season. What rates do you run? How often do you apply?
@stevesower3873 ай бұрын
@mtyl27 based on the label, there are many options based on your goals and grass. Max is .3 oz per month per 1k sq ft.

I’m already starting to plan for next season and hoping I can get through without another overseed and actually attempt the nitrogen blitz. Would you do a soil test every year, say around March?
@TheDIYLawnCoach3 ай бұрын
Feb or March is perfect, when you have put anything down on the lawn for a month or so. 1 per year is all I would recommend

Can you do a Nitrogen Blitz without any rain in the forcast? NJ has had basically no rain for 2 months and are waiting another 20 days for the next rainfall
@TheDIYLawnCoach3 ай бұрын
You would definitely need to supplement water. If you are pushing fertilizer its important that the plant get the water it needs. A lot of fertilizer contains salts and at high concentrations could damage your turf if not getting adequate water. Thanks for watching and great question!!

Whats the recommended rate for using urea 46-0-0 for 1k sf and how often?
@TheDIYLawnCoach2 ай бұрын
Liquid or granular urea? What time of year and what is your goal? What is your turf type? And where do you live?
@omegapestcontrolllc74812 ай бұрын
@ its granular but it can dissolve with water. I have TTTF and live in MD. I have baby grass and trying to do the Nitrogen Blitz
@TheDIYLawnCoach2 ай бұрын
I would be very careful with such a high concentration of urea on baby grass. I would do .25-.5 lb N every 2 weeks and make sure you water in after applying.

@ thank you so much

Not everyone needs pre em. I rarely use it anymore, as my turf is thick and /I don't have Poa issues.

I applied 5.40 lb of water soluble urea 46-0-0 on my 5000 sqf front yard lawn in the morning using 5 gallon backpack sprayer and watered the lawn heavily for about 15 minutes around 12 pm. Now, the tip of each leaf of the grass turned yellow. I am not sure if I over watered the lawn or if applying 0.5 percent of nitrogen per 1000 sqf burned the lawn.
@thewhiteknight023 ай бұрын
Cut it. Water it. Should have used 1/2 that amount.
@blipblopride90243 ай бұрын
@@thewhiteknight02really? That’s about 2.5lbs N over 5k. Thats 0.5lb/1k. Is it because it’s foliar?

I did an overseed and that grass has established and been mowed twice now. Can I still do nitrogen this year and wait to do pre emergent until spring ?
@learntolawn3 ай бұрын
Yes you can still apply nitrogen. You generally want to apply 3 to 4 pounds of nitrogen per year to tall fescue. Almost one pound of it will be applied as the last application, id focus on a fast releasing type for the last application usually urea based. As far as pre emergent it depends on what you are trying to prevent, if its mostly annual weeds id hit those with a post emergent in the spring instead and clean whatever you have now with an ester based weed control like T zone. Its great for most weeds you are seeing right now just never use it when temps start to get to 80.
@riflebear17112 ай бұрын
Why not preemergent? I guess i dont really know how it works.

@richaquila2655 i love the idea of pushing Bermuda but its getting late in the year. Unfortunate at this point you should wait until spring next year and push through the summer. Right now you need to be putting down fall pre emergent to stop winter weeds.
