@@lawnlifevlogs oddly, it took longer than normal to germinate (7 days for most spots, up to 10 for others) but once I mowed and hit it with N, it really darkened up. It did it get crushed this year by disease though, I find it rather fragile... So I need to step up my fungicide game next season and make sure my cultural practices are tightened up.

The Ammonium sulfate is beige/brown due to purity. The highest purity tends to be pure white will lower quality is more beige. This can happen due to manufacturing and impurities getting into the ammonium sulfate. I hope this helps out.

@@lawnlifevlogs Yes the nitrogen content has not changed. The reason for color change is the sulfates (Thiosulfate & Sulfite) still left in the dewatering process of the ammonium sulfate. Nitrogen is a fixed percentage in ammonium sulfate due to chemical composition regardless of color. Hopes this helps

I’ve some success with a product called Wisdom TC flowable for ants and other inspects and spiders. I haven’t sprayed the whole lawn with it, but have spot sprayed with success. And I spray all around the house this time of year for crickets, spiders and boxelder bugs.

Man I don’t know If I can help with ants… in Italy we have a product called Duracid produced by Vebi (active ingredient cypermethrin). I used it a lot and works every time. Hopefully you can find it in the US :)

You actually want to use AMS when it's cooler. Urea doesn't do as well in cooler weather. You lose some to denitrification.

No. It just happened to be darker this day because I put down 1 lb of nitrogen on the main and only 0.4 lbs on the side. Fb/ht is way darker when it comes to natural color. It's amazing what a heavy does of N can do though
