The Eastern Roman Empire was under constant Ottoman pressure ever since the new conquerors appeared in the Anatolia. Although the Ottomans tried to take Constantinople on a number of occasions, they had to lift the siege of the city due to the Crusades of Varna and Nicopolis, the Timurid Invasion and the battle of Ankara, and the Interregnum period that happened after their Sultan Bayezid was taken hostage by Timur. However, after the victories at the battles of Varna (1444) and 2nd Kosovo (1448) against the crusaders of Wladyslaw III and John Hunyadi, the road to Constantinople was open and the new sultan Mehmed II set his sight on the city of the Roman emperors...

Suda varki gittigimiz topraklarda kendi kulturumuzden dinimizden taviz vermeden o topraklara adapte olabiliyoruz. Halbuki bizim asimile olmamizi istiyorlardi. If you looked at the maps of the time, the conquest of Constantinople was pretty much a foregone conclusion. Since the 1380s they were surrounded on all sides by hundreds of kilometres of Ottoman territory. It was just a matter of when, and it's surprising they managed to hold out that long.

It survived 1000 years, with so much prosperity in its peak with all ancient knowledges and inheritance of greatest civilizations of Hebrews, Greeks and Romans also little bit of ancient Levant, ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, North Africa, etc and the earliest well developed monarchial state of feudal middle age Europe. Also with little bit of proto capitalism. Without inheriting Byzantine's governance none of your glorious Ottoman Empire would be glorious and could never function well and die out in 100 years just like timurid empire. Niether would ancient knowledges that Byzantines(Eastern Roman Empire) had inherited from imperial Roman Empire as rightful continuum of imperial Roman Empire, which sparked Renaissance would be safe and available to mediaeval Europeans and to us so there would be no scientific revolution.

@@JohnWick_897The Ottomans started in the age of swords and survived up until the age of machine guns. The descendants of the Byzantine’s are now Turkish and the Ottomans secured Constantinople in Turkish hands until present day. It was the final end of the Roman Empire. Founded in the second century. One of the most powerful nations ever known. It saw many other states come and go. The Ssasavids, The Han Dynasty, The Mongols, The Golden Horde, Francia, The HRE and finally the ones that would end them once and for all, The Ottoman Empire.

I very very recommend for you to read the Fall of Constantinople from the Islamic perspective. It all started from the prophet Mohammad's prophesize 800 years earlier. He said that the best city in the world (at the time) will be open to the Moslem. Some of the hadits: “Whilst we were around the Prophet (saw) writing he was asked, ‘Which of the two cities will be opened first, Constantinople or Rome?‘ He (the Prophet Muhammad) answered, ‘The city of Heraclius (Constantinople) will be opened first!'” "Verily you shall conquer Constantinople. What a wonderful leader will the leader be, and what a wonderful army will that army be!" Even the reason and the circumstanses of why Prophet said that are very interesting.

This is a great and objective channel. I like the video, but you left out an important note. When Sultan Mehmed II moved the ships through land, that campaign was almost impossible because the shores were too steep to move the ships, and there was also the risk of being seen or heard by the villagers. I just think you didn't do enough justice to the brilliance of that part of the battle by the Sultan
