Reasons why South Vietnam suffered many casualties: - Coup: After the 1963 coup, South Vietnam's management became weak. - Corruption and inflation: The coup led to an increase in corruption and inflation. - Loss of public support: Policies such as the Land Reform Policy of the Saigon government or Ngo Dinh Diem government were no different from those of the French Empire and the campaigns to eliminate communists and those who opposed Diem. Finally, when Ngo Dinh Diem suppressed the Buddhists in the South and forced people to follow Catholicism, and he was trying to reconcile with the Hanoi government to unify the two regions in peace, the US found a way to overthrow him. - Division within the military: When General Duong Van Minh overthrew and killed Ngo Dinh Diem, those who supported Diem did not like the new regime. This led to coups originating from the South Vietnamese military that supported Diem. --Weapon shortage: During the civil war, the Northern army destroyed most of the Southern weapon bases. - US troop withdrawal: In 1973, US troops withdrew due to international pressure and pressure from the American people, causing the resistance in South Vietnam to no longer last. South Vietnam had been too dependent on the US military for 10 years, leading to a lack of leadership capabilities.

​@@6000.Vietnam had better tactics, and communication, the south Vietnamese were retreating and had lost all their ammo and supplies due to the paris accords where the us left their men and sent very little weapons for the south Vietnamese, while the north relied on enemy weapons and Soviet aid at the time.

Nowadays, either name could be used. Saigon is usually used for informal talks. And HCM city is used in formal papers. HCM city was a name that is used to tribute the leader (like Washington or Leningrad)

What source did you get? South Vietnam had 245.000 troops (the 3rd Army) and they caused us many losses. We had fought so hard to takeover Saigon. Many soldiers from us died before they could see the country unify again

How could you think it would be like South Korea? In reality, the South Nam was in crisis after the Ngo Dinh Diem coup in 1963. After the coup, it faced issues such as corruption and inflation. In the video, you can see that the South Nam lost many people because of poor management after the Diem coup. They were completely dependent on the US, and when the US withdrew its troops, they had no capability. In contrast, South Korea rebuilt its country on its own, despite some support but very little from the US, while the South Nam completely dependent on the US at all.

I was in Saigon with my buddy Mitch when we saw the screaming hoard of VC charging towards us with punji sticks, a heard Mitch cry out as he was run through with a bamboo pole. No!! I screamed. But it was too late. VC were crawling all over us, biting us, one burrowed under my skin but luckily a tunnel rat was able to dislodge him, that's when the helicopter saved me at the last minute and flew me out to a carrier squadron waiting just offshore. But then the helicopter ran out of fuel and crashed into the water just 50 feet shy of the aircraft carrier. I was sucked under, thank goodness a sympathetic mermaid took pitty on me and brought me to a waiting patrol boat. Back in the States I recounted this story to a newspaper but no reporters believed me.
