@@nathemy1014 it is you may have seen the technique where telephone engineers working on telephone posts they have a harness around the pole and shimmy up and down same for other professions as long as the rope is long enough to circle the pole.which it was. Also considering the difficulty of the climb they were on to begin at the start of the film they should have known this technique???

Really? The first thing I do if I found a hole in my climbing is never put my hand in there precisaly to avoid that. Something that climbing movies don't tell you is that you find a lot of bird nest in the mountains.

Dude it's way to thick to climb down that way. Your legs have to fully go around the tree to have enough grip.

I imagine that they'd have everything they would need to climb down that way, too. Ropes, grippy shoes, those metal loopy things that let you tighten and add slack to a line. I only watched the tree climbing class at my university from a distance (mostly because I was in shock that there was a tree climbing class), but it looked pretty simple, if exhausting. ...I wonder... (types "how to climb down a pole" into KZbin search bar) ... Yup, that's pretty much exactly what I was imagining. Mind you, I don't actually climb, so I don't know how to create a repealing line. But if both these girls were experienced climbers, this should have been the first things that popped into their head. I mean, it was MINE. And I don't climb things. (^o^)
