So glad you had help, peonies are my apsolute favorite flowers can’t wait to see them bloom. The coldest it gets here is 36 and I won’t go outside. We have to put ice on our peonies in December I’m in zine 9b.

I planted my peonies two feet apart and that was way too close. If I plant peonies again I would plant them 3-4 feet apart so that I could get around them to weed and tend. Also the root balls get really large and very difficult to move. So I would suggest you reconsider your spacing and research and inquire with others their experience. Love your channel and enjoy your commentary in your garden. Great job!

Thanks Sandra! Now you have me nervous 😬. Back up plan, dig up and replant every other one if needed.

That is going to look amazing in a few years! Good job! But I wonder about the spacing. I have a number of peonies that are 40 to 50 years old and their root clumps are between 3 and 4 feet in diameter. The plants are at least 3 feet across when they’re in bloom. Is 18-26 inch spacing going to be enough?

Hi Don! I wonder about that too. I’m basing the spacing off of Dave Dowling’s recommendation. I think if it does get too crowded, I can dig up and move every other one.
