I like the camera on the horses back, the plow view watching the soil being turned over was good. I lived north of the Adirondaks for a while in my lifetime. My Family did own property in the Adirondaks. Nice video, love the horses!!!

I only saw a sulky plow used a couple times. I was amazed the horses did the walking. Grandpa and my dad used a walking plow. Guess maybe that's why I enjoy.walking. When I was younger, I walked barefoot behind picking up fishing worms and whatever else I might find. Rather be doing that now, rather than voting! Lol

That looks really perfect to me. I find your horses work very well. I said it before, I envy you for your level fields. I can't even do any fall plowing anymore on our hilly ground due to the risk of soil erosion with heavy rains. I plow with a 16 inch trailer plow behind the forecart with my team of two heavy Percherons since it is easier for me to get on the forecart than climb on a regular riding plow. Thank you for sharing all of that with us.

The hilly ground is much tougher to work with and the flat ground is a big reason why we moved to this area

Jim, I am a certified journeyman farrier as well. I couldn't be exact, however it appeared as though your outside black was short strided on his left rear. Have a look tomorrow. Have you ever tried the cover crop method with no tilling? The cover crop method of field management is successful in warner climates, I've wondered if it would work in the northeast.

They get a good break at lunch but they can go for 3-4 hours at a time

generally I rest mine at the end of each round for a half a minute or so. The Amish tell me more short breaks is better than long ones. A good rest at lunch. Mine are not in the kind of shape Jim's are

Your evener is hitched on a sliding rod. And it goes back-and-forth as you switch sides.

Well it varies, I don’t usually plow a full day because i log as well. I’ll usually do a 3-4 hour stretch at a time.

@@WorkingHorsesWithJim How many days does it take to plow 20 acres? Just curious. I know it's not about getting it done in a hurry. Your tractors are sure quiet. That is probably a big reason you do it. For the peace and quiet. And the satisfaction of working with your animals. My dad on the other hand, was not a horseman and hated working with horses. He bought a Farmall H in 46 and had horses on the farm until 1957.

It is a White Horse Plow, manufactured in Lancaster Pennsylvania
