Join Captain Ray Jarvis of Salt of the Earth Charters as he takes on an exciting day of fall run fishing in Buzzards Bay! We’re targeting some of the biggest albies and striped bass of the season. Here’s how we did it:
Species:
Bonito
False Albacore
Striped Bass
Approach 1 (Striped Bass):
Fished near structure using the XL Dog Walker, with a walk-the-dog technique to trigger strikes from scattered bass.
Approach 2 (Bonito & Albies):
Patience was key as we used a walking and gunning strategy to target fast-moving albies with larger lures.
Gear Setup:
Rod: Light spinning setups paired with 20 lb braided line and fluorocarbon leaders.
Lures: Surface erasers and micro poppers were used for albies, while the XL Dog Walker worked wonders for striped bass.
Situational Factors:
Albies: Focused on 1-inch micro bait, requiring larger lures to stand out.
Striped Bass: Scattered around structure, calling for bigger lures to draw them in.
After hundreds of casts, we finally hooked into some massive albies. Don’t miss this epic fall run action! 🎣
