You sir are a great speaker. Easy to listen to. Very rare to listen to someone speak this long without a lot of repetition, um's and ahs". Bravo.

@jfdb59 appreciate the kind words, im sure there are plenty of um's and repetition in the video. . I dont edit any videos. it's just raw unfiltered content. I dont have the time or the desire to edit myself for hrs, I just push record and upload. Let er rip, sometimes it works pretty good, sometimes not! Thanks

You have inspired me to keep on with soil health practices in the past. It would be very interesting to watch one 33ft wide test strip for the next 6 years that got "missed" with the disc. Then you would have the evidence to gain confidence with the practice OR learn something new. Knowing you.... you have already done the check before. I for one would commit to watching update videos on the long term experiment. On a side note, are you going to pursue another crop of corn with no synthetic N and only winter peas? Or did you learn some lessons at harvest?

There's no right way to farm. What a great statement I sincerely hope that the new engine treats you very well. John Deere reman I would not wish upon my worst enemy Everything is a tool it's just a matter of how you use it

@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 I'm suprised the 9 L JD inline 6 blew up and wore thru a piston ring at 6,500 hrs, ive got old Cat engines in semi trucks with 30,000+ hrs. What the heck? I guess theres no right equipment color either!

Jd (and the other Bandidos) needs to keep there stockholders Happy. Not ment to hold up any much longer than garanty + X in my experience. @@growthefarmup2606

Beat it down! It will just come back stronger! :) 4-6 years is a VERY long turnaround window between tillage. It amazes me how people are so opposed to this without understanding the soil science.. Tillage can definitely help change the oxidation/reduction ratio and correct soil issues. I've been working on machines and prepping for 2025 season. When do we start Lauber Seed Farms Eastern División? :) That JD is running like a champ! Are you suggesting that our decisions create our own solutions or problems? That's ludicrous! 😂 Good to see you poppin' up man! I have to rebuild my disc... Yes expensive and a lot of wear and tear when you contact soil with high friction!
@growthefarmup26067 күн бұрын
@TheFarmacySeedsNetwork man i hope your disk stays together better than mine! I run it about 5 days a year and spend about 2 weeks a year in the shop with the thing! Lol

@TheFarmacySeedsNetwork have you ever seen the Salford RTS coil tine system? It's basically a field cultivator with wavy coulters every 7.5 inchesrather than cultivator shanks., the way it springs will prevent a plow pan i think. Check a Salford RTS vid if your not familiar with the machine. Be curious what you think of the Salford? I'm thinking about switching my disk for one to size the stubble and disturb less soil while preventing a hard pan. I think it be a Lil easier to maintain also?

I like notill, but I have never had any luck with notill alfalfa. Grasses in those seedlings usually do ok. 555H John Deere plow behind my 4020 on fields that may not have seen a tillage tool in 9 or 10 years. I'd like to get a Vertical tiller but I obviously don't have enough horsepower or acres to justify it. I will be disking cornstalks in the spring so I can get an oats cover in with my conventional drill as early as possible then notill corn into terminated oats. Very sandy ground. Want that weed barrier and moisture conserving mat.
@growthefarmup26067 күн бұрын
@danw6014 that's a good plan. I've disked in spring also, it works OK, its just better to let it lay all winter in our area, for whatever reason?
@growthefarmup26067 күн бұрын
@danw6014 Some crops just can't be set up correctly, no till. Totally agree on the alfalfa... that's a great example. Then, most likely, the Alfalfa ground won't get tilled again for years potentially, depending on rotation. Good program. Edit- spelling

@danw6014 I'm considering switching to a Salford RTS wavy colter machines. I think the way the spring tine works will stop making a "plow pan" hard spot. Check a salford coulter rts vid if your not familiar, what u think??
@danw60147 күн бұрын
@growthefarmup2606 it may reduce the pealing effect that a straight coulter or disk blade has on the pan. I wonder how well it would work at the most minimum setting for incorporating broadcast seeded cover crop. The wavey coulters worked great when we had a Rawson system on the old 7000 planter.
@growthefarmup26066 күн бұрын
@danw6014 thats what I was thinking too I bet it would inject small seeds. They make dry pull behind carts and hoses delivery systems to shoot the dry fwrt in behind the coulter. I think it would work good for both fert and cover seed. It's a very interesting machine
