I bought this exact same drill two years ago and was sorry I did because of the same problems you identified. This retrofit is absolutely amazing and exactly what I needed. I can't wait for you to offer this modification. Other problems you will find is that the bolts come loose. The first day I used it I found a mechanical nut in the field I just drilled. However, as per the FB support group, use a little Locktite and this should limit the problem.

I had a saya 507 for one season and sold it. Bought a genesis this year and was well worth the extra money.

I would buy one of these kits in a heartbeat for my 507. It isn’t as big of a deal on the small seeds but for planting bigger seeds with this drill it’d be a game changer. Would love to know whenever it becomes available for purchase

Man I just tipped my flaps down on about a 50 degree angle and my flappers work great just needed the extra down pressure 👍

Jake I had the same issues and after 3 yrs. of fighting it I sold my Tar River this spring and went back to tilling the soil. I got discussed using a pice of equipment that 75-80% effective. If I had known what you were working on I would have kept it and purchased a closing unit from you. Bob

Jake....I believe your improvement will make this a really good no till planter, I wish I had hung on to it. Great job in the retro fit and improving it. Bob

Put a coyote decoy out to keep Sandhills away. Had to on my farm we had over 1000 cranes hitting my corn

very innovative, jake! Other than the closing issue, any other issues with the drill? I've heard clients of mine who have tar river drills say theyve had to go through and tighten all the nuts and bolts back down after a day's use. Have you had that issue?
@habitatsolutions360llc33 ай бұрын
Being a low entry price-point anyone that buys this drill should expect to do a once over on all bolts, screws, chains, sprokets you name it. Luckely for me I found the Facebook tar river community page and did a 100% once over & lubed the chaines and sprockets before I used it These issues may originate from the implement dealers depending how thorough they are going over their checklist and what experiance level employees they hire.

What size tractor will pull this? Not sure if my 26hp would handle it. Good to know on the drill though.those pesky sandhill cranes. They’re a menace to food plotters and farmers
@habitatsolutions360llc33 ай бұрын
My Yanmar is a 37 hp tractor, your 26 hp may be too light for that drill.

@@habitatsolutions360llc3 yeah seems like i looked into these before and that was the issue. guess i need a bigger tractor :)
