I don't know how I missed this video last week....but I'm glad I came back and watched it. It's been several years since we've crossed the mountain to Cherokee and Maggie Valley. I never knew that garden was back there behind the Mountaineer Crafts....it's beautiful! The fall colors always seem to be more vibrant on the North Carolina side for some reason. Looks like you guys had a great day! 👍

*The pink motel is where my momma and daddy spent their honeymoon 56 years ago! ❤❤ *I was also like you, we went to the mountains for two weeks every summer. We stayed at Owl’s Campground which was across the creek from Frontier Land. As you know, Will, that is where the casino is now. I still LOVE the mountains! 😊 *The flowers you loved in Maggie Valley are called Dahlias. Those are my favorite flower. 💮 *We have pictures of me at Ghost Town in the Sky as a little kids but I don’t remember being there. They say we went every year for a while.

I've been to Ghost Town. It was in the late 60"s. I was about 10 to 12 years old. Dad and mom would come to the smokies every year. Pigeon Forge wasn't in operation then. It was all Gatlinburg and into the mountains, into Cherokee and out to Maggie Valley for the Ghost Town day of fun. Then headed back to Gatlinburg to our Hotel, being wore out but, loved it.

Chief Henry was his name when I was a kid, I’m 64 years old and I remember taking many pictures with him. I don’t know if it’s the same Chief you saw when you were a kid. I was told in 1999 he had passed away. When I was a kid they Indians were all over Cherokee performing Indian dances and out there talking to the visitors. One of them had a caged bear named “Sue.”Now we rarely see them. Ok, so I just heard you say in your video that they’re still out there doing their dances. I guess we always miss them. 🤷‍♀️

One of these summers you should take 276 through Waynesville and go on down to Sliding Rock and ride the waterfall. Even if you don’t want to try that, (It’s fun!), you can go on to Looking Glass Falls which are beautiful. You can also see Looking Glass Rock in that area from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

My family used to go to Ghost Town In The Sky and it was a lot of fun. With the gun fights, the can can girls and bank robberies they kept us entertained. We would always go in the saloon and get some cokes and watch the saloon girls and cowboys. Once when we were there Ed "Cookie" Byrnes was there in the saloon dressed as a cowboy. He was an actor on a western and the tv show 77 Sunst Strip and he was there to draw the public in. Lots of great fun with my family and friends who were with us. Thanks for going there. You brought back lots of great memories. I hate that it closed years ago.

My parents honeymooned in Maggie Valley in the 50’s and went to Ghost Town in the Sky. It was cool to see the train they rode on and often mentioned when talking about those days. They stayed at The Rocky Waters Motel and joked that it foreshadowed how their marriage would go, LOL! The motel was still open last year, but I believe it has been renamed. Thank you for the tour.❤
