I love Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. My favorite place in the world. Started traveling there in 1972 when Pigeon Forge had 1 blinking traffic light. You took some beautiful pictures.

The colors are beautiful, but the leaves still have a long way to go until you started going farther up the mountain. I think you are right about the trees near the top being effected by the fires, So many of the trees look damaged. But what a gorgeous are for leaf peeping! Getting to enjoy nature together as a family of three is such a blessing! The holidays are now upon us all and will be so amazing for the three of you to enjoy together! Absolutely gorgeous! I was in the Smokies two weeks ago and the foliage was beautiful. NC side was peak and lower elevations/Gatlinburg was spotty but still beautiful.
