I'm guessing the man that walked to the front of the plane that they were applauding was a fellow soldier. It's so nice that they did that and how they stayed seated and quiet to show this awesome Marine the respect he so very well earned and deserved in dying for his country. We are still free thanks to our veterans protecting us every day,give them the gratitude they deserve.
@mandycheatham69633 жыл бұрын
All fallen soldiers get an escort back home and everyone else on the plane is asked to remain seated until the escort departs and our fallen hero’s casket is removed by the other fellow soldiers who are there awaiting their arrival. They are then given a hero’s escort by police, etc that is usually quite large. In most places the citizens line the streets through town and wave flags, remove their hats, salute, etc as the procession passes by. In Texas at least, there’s a big biker group that travels around to escort fallen hero’s to their resting place and if people are driving and see the procession they’ll pull over and stand beside their cars to show their respect.
@danmilosevich3 жыл бұрын
That was the escort as mentioned. He is with the body from basically start of the trip home to the burial. He is never far from the fallen. It is a honorable assignment but would be very tough to perform.

I don't have family and friends in the military...so I don't know what are the procedures for bringing back a fallen soldier...but is it quite common to bring him/her on a major airline? They are returned the quickest way possible which is usually scheduled airlines. There is a charter company, Kalitta Charters who has the exclusive contract to bring them home as well which will usually be into a smaller commuter type airfield. The military gets them home as close as possible. Rather quickly once the clear mortuary affairs.
