Fallen Green Beret Returns Home - SSgt. Jeremie S. Border

Dallas, Texas, September 8, 2012 at 11:29AM the family of SSgt. Jeremie Border was escorted by police into the flight line to greet their fallen hero. On hand were members of the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders along with a few dozen on lookers.
Staff Sgt. Jeremie S. Border, 28, of Mesquite, Texas, assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Torii Station, Japan; died Sept. 1, in Batur Village, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with small arms fire. .

I became a marine in 1965. im old but im a marine still and i saw many of my comrades die and to this day i cry when we have to bring home a fallen young soldier. R.I.P. brave young lad. we love you now and forever.

Jessie Perez I have several family members who served in Vietnam. One did two tours flying a helo (don't know which one). Another cousin told his mother not to ever ask him what happened there. After she told me that, it took me years to tell him I was glad he made it back home. Now I make it a point to say it, especially to Vietnam Vets.

Again thanks. You are the first to ever tell me thanks. I was treated badly when I returned state side. Called a murderer. Green berets do not do what they do for praise or recognition but for belief and sense of duty. I was shot once and bayonet ed once. I am glad that today's vets are treated better. My mother never knew what I did over there and my brothers would not tell her. Your cousins mother is better off not knowing. Again thank you and may God bless you.

Also thank the ever present Patriot Guard for always being there to help escort the fallen. Your volunteer service doesn't go unnoticed.

Thias is the first time I'm seeing this. For those of you that decided to give a thumbs down to this, you are all cowards. You have no idea what it's like to be in the military. I've only have had 21 years in and though I'm retired I do, sometimes, miss the camaraderie and even the fun we had as well as the bad. For SSG Border, I say welcome home soldier and may God Bless and Keep you and your family. There is a saying "All gave some and some gave all" and no civilian will ever understand what that means.

There is nothing more admirable than to observe great military precision in honor of a fallen hero! There is something about the folding of the flag before presenting to the loved of the lost that breaks my heart; not to mention when that "Kalitta" charter plane lands to take the fallen hero to his or her final resting place. As a former Marine, I honor all combat veterans who sacrificed their life at the alter of Freedom. I pray that God reserves a special place for our corageous heroes. I grew up listening to the "Green Beret" song . I sang along and dreamed of being a Green Beret. Unfortunately a health condition did not allow me to join the services. Later in life I was able to volunteer at the VA in Salt Lake City. I met many men and a few women who made it back but the stories that were told cemented my heart to the armed services.
