@@Panfilo2 thats the thing tho. We are so divided now that even coming together for fellow soldiers or not, is a political move. For the OP. Nah man, America only comes together to honor the fallen when it suits the agenda. Everyone wants to honor the dead soldiers. No body wants to face the facts. Why did the soldier even have to die. Why was the soldier even deployed. Why did the leadership fail them. Why was that leadership even put there. Sadly, realistically honoring the dead just covers up the problems of our government. Soldiers who fight and die, should do it for a cause, not for a government. If the cause and government align, then it makes sense. If they don't, then why TF they have to die. Sorry ranting.

I got my father back from the Vietnam War, broken mentally and physically. This carried through until he passed away years ago. All he talked about throughout my life is his prayer or lost soldiers would be brought back home. I think he's up there in heaven smiling and happy to know this brave soldier was brought home. Such a heartbreaking thing for any to go through and in so happy their wish was granted.

Wow I started bawling with the airplane going under the jet of water. I can't imagine what that was like for the captain to drive under that. He looks just like his father. So sad to lose him at a young age but to have his remains back is unbelievable after this long.

I cannot express how proud I am of the way the United States of America, the United Kingdom's great friend and ally, honours those courageous and heroic service men and women that serve their country with the greatest sacrifice. Goodness how do you not shed tears from a story like this. We certainly will never forget such a heroic sacrifice. Though the was was before I was born, it’s because of heroes like these, that I have a free country to live in.

1967. 1967 started off with the traditional 3...2...1 HAPPY New Year excitement! Exactly 1 year later there were at least 2 broken hearted American families coming out of 1967. The family of Col. Roy Knight and of Cmdr. John David Lewallen Sr. (my daddy) Different events were in play with their deaths but the same deep sorrow. Thank you for your service Col. Roy Knight - Welcome HOME!

So scared to fly, but that is one flight I would have been honored to be a part of. Thank you for your service Col Knight. Your son carried you on his wings, and brought you home.
