the parallel universes were an unintended effect of how sm64 handled collision with the environment. After leaving the bounds that it checks collision for, the whole system loops allowing mario to be far outside the map while still calculating his interactions with the world as if he were in the same relative position in the main "universe" and this is why you have a "grid" of parallel universes. It's extremely unlikely that parallel universes exist in odyssey simply because the programmers no longer have to constantly cut corners when programming their games. The main thing you will encounter are interesting gitches related to floating point granularity (unless odyssey moves the universe around mario which is unlikely because you need astronomical scales for these gllitches to really show up)

Well, it was to be expected that there are no parrallel universes. They only existed in the first place because the N64 can't do all the math required for collision etc. on floating point nubers in a timely fashion, so they had to use integers, prone to overflowing, instead, andntherenwere parrallel universes. Modern consoles can easily do the required calculation on floating point numbers, so I would be surprised if you found a PU on a modern console.

God, 3:15 is almost poetic. Mario, a human being that can withstand the age of Earth and beyond, ended up falling down from the moon, completely bypassing the death barrier. He can't do anything. He can't escape, restart, or even kill himself out of this. He's in purgatory. All he can do is wait it out. 5 billion years later though, after the human species have gone extinct, the earth is engulfed in the Sun, and some other species are dominating on another planet, the world has mercy on Mario. The Switch crashed, and now he is finally at peace, able to ascend into the afterlife. The suffering was finally over.

The reason why 5 billion years crashes is because floating point numbers actually have a limit, once that limit is reached it just defaults to being either +infinity or -infinity, which crashes the game.
