It's funny. I hated my economics class in high school and now 15 years later I'm getting all excited hearing about the simulated economy of a space RTS. I swear video games have taught me more than school ever had.

I feel the same. Economic through many city building games, politics through hearts of iron and europa universalis series, and history through assasin creed and total war series. Learn more through games than formal studies

yet so many still say you don't learn anything from games (at least in my country>_>). Learned a few things about rocketry and space travel from kerbal space program, got interested in history from age of empires, developed long term planning from games like this, cities skylines and other management and simulator games and maybe a few other things i can't remember atm.

I was waiting for this kind of RTS with such complexity for a long time with no luck and in my shame I didn't know about this project, but I'm glad to see someone who loves this genre is making one. As soon as i heard this game had logistics and resource supply i knew i would want to play it. It's the major thing that has been missing from almost every other rts and even grand strategy games. This will add so much tactical depth, cant wait to give it a spin.

Loving the idea of ships economy. Makes them seem less disposable like most RTS games. With named and trained officers onboard it allows for unique player storytelling from game to game.

Darn this game looks like The Expanse with all those mechanics. (if only we ever get The Expanse game, only dreams but this is close enough), cant wait to play this game. Looking at what is already in place I must ask if there would be an option to do things with different approaches. For example, to win a mission or sandbox game you could go full offensive and take over everything by force or do the opposite. Go full defensive and peaceful, build up defense force no one dares to attack and take over economically buying off planets or systems and using some sort of influence to reach the goal. Now that would be awesome.

This type of visual fidelity just asking for physicilised damage system, like if you shoot through the engine or turret "hard enough" it's just tearing of from the ship and flying away. Stick with the ballistic weapons please as I hate seeing light beams all over the place during battles, Looks like the game is coming along well. Looking forward to this more than pretty much all the AAA titles coming this year. Just hoping Stellaris gets the eco and pop update soon as it is pretty much the only space game I play atm. Oh and I really liked the video clip were it looked as though there was a surprise attack on a station with a few docked ships that all got blown up, it's something I have always wanted to see in a space game.. Surprise mechanics, and not the one's EA likes to put in there games! :P

Considering the actual size of asteroid fields and the resources they hold I hope in-game these are effectively "endless".

I would suggest they be 'endless' in the sense that they aren't limited total, but also have them be 'mined out' at a certain point, drastically slowing the collection rate. This could represent when the richest seams of resources are used up and continued work will mean going after lower value ore. This would balance the reason to have it run out (expansion pressure) and keeping players able to keep going if they are pushed back. It would also split the difference on endless vs limited resources.

I hope the early access allows a lot of gameplay. a demo early access will not work too well to bring interest. Still i am hyped cause this looks like an awesome game and i have been craving a good RTS for a while now. Though this may be closer to an 4x RTS. I hope to see the game soon.

How is the balance between speed of delivery and the number of transports set up? Technically the AI has a whole spectrum to choose here since supply ships are built automatically. Can the player configure limits on this in any direction (for example giving a timeframe or maximum number of transports to be used on a route?
