I have about zero interest in RTS games, if it's not first person or third person, I can't get into it, and I have tried I got home world or at least one of the Homeworld games, and I didn't like it at all, I think I'll get more excited about Starfield just because of that aspect alone it's not going to be the RTS style the entire time, I think what they have to do is create something that most people like instead of just niche audiences, like for example there's another one that's an indie Dev just like this one that you're showing that's an example of, and it's a space game that is created by one developer called spaceborne 2, the game is early access, but it plays like Star Citizen only it's a single player game and I suppose it's kind of like Starfield to a certain degree because it will have a story, and it is third person, so I'm more interested in that game than I am with Starfield at the moment, but mostly because my machine doesn't exactly quite meet the requirements for Starfield and that's several thousand dollars that I don't want to spend right now on Hardware just to run starfield, however with my current Hardware I can run that spaceborne two game. I'm not exactly sure if that game will have mods, but I went asking around and some people believe that it can have mods based off of the kind of engine it's using, and I've got to be honest for a single Dev to make such an impressive game is astonishing, especially with how big he is already made the universe and the added on gameplay elements and stuff like that, it works really fucking good, of course again it is early access and the game is not a multiplayer game, I'm guessing that's because it cost more to keep the server up and running especially for an indie Dev.

I met Todd at PAX Aus last year and I have to say he absolutely pours his soul into the game, he has an incredibly supportive wife who is helping him realize his dream and an active community on Discord helping keep the hype train moving. I can't wait for this game to release and I definitely don't want it to be rushed, gems like these are rare in the gaming industry.

I've been keeping an eye on this one myself. I don't really like RTS games, except Homeworld, but the pace of Falling Frontier coupled with the focus on a smaller number of more detailed ships is very appealing. One of my gaming holy grails is a space combat sim that actually manages to make the capital ships feel like capital ships and not just scaled up rowboats with a few more guns sticking out of them. Falling Frontier seems to be promising in that regard.

Why not check out Capital Command as well? It's even more of a space combat sim where you control a single capital ship(and give some general orders to allies), compared to Falling Frontier or Nebulous which are a mix of space sim and RTS,

The best part of "nice car" ownership is seeing others excited to see you (or rather, the car) Driving through japan in a restored AE86, watching people smile, wave, give thumbs up and in one case, abandon their plough to run to the side of the road and fist bump as fast as 70 year old legs allowed was the best part of the whole trip.

For me it looks like the space battles went from SW: Empire at War to something like space equivalent of Warno, Wargame or Broken Arrow and I like it very much. Perfect level of control/difficulty. As much as I love Nebulous: Fleet Command it's not exactly an easily approachable game and something easier, but not totally arcade is very welcomed. PS. If no-one else is gona be an asshole, I might as well take the role: What's with the framerate? Is it your machine, is it on the "to do list", or?

Could be the recording software too. The Dev's computer has no problems with it from the recent trailer, but the dev has said that until the ships are all finalized, it won't be easy to figure out what machines can run it or can't.

I know they do not plan on adding multiplayer, but I would love to see it happen! Imagine the mind games you could play with the long rang radar systems, faking an attack with a shitty ship just to cover another front opening! Would be incredible!

Dam, It has been in my wish list since 01/21/21 I keep checking up on it. The more I look at his video the more I see the ships from Nebulous Fleet Command. This is not meant as a dig on Falling Frontier. I can not wait for the game to release when it is ready. The whole "Early Access" has worn off on myself. Yes, I know that feedback to the developer helps with bug related issues. But depending on how long the item stays in "Early Access" you will hit a burn out point on it and may not return when the title finally goes "Gold". Thank you for the update on the game. Tell them to keep up the work it looks awesome.

Upper Echelon would probably enjoy Starsector too, it's a game similar to Falling Frontier but 2D. It's like a way toned down 4x game. It's also been in development since 2011. Highly recommend it, and it's built in modding scene

I appreciate that you like in-depth games, space games like this are a little too complicated for me, but I'm definitely sending this to my friends who are into it. I would definitely watch a playthrough, hope you stream it, or save a stream. Especially if you describe your thought process and decision making out loud for us. I was wondering if you'd heard of a game called From The Depths. You build your vehicles and run a war campaign with them. You can used copy pasted designs, or build your own and customize everything from the shells/missiles to the AI. It's a game with few devs that will always deserve more love and it seems like something you might like.

with the way explosions light up the battlefield with long lasting effect, it would look amazing if there was a dynamic lighting system in place that would cause the ships to cast shadows from the explosions. it would look so friggin cool

Silica is really good game, you play as a commander who you play as a result or fps soldiers/aliens on the field. It's one of the best game that came put this year.

I'm going to preface this with a "I might be wrong" statement. I would like to see ship have to fire off a directional thruster to counter the force created by firing a weapon and ejecting counter measures. Also, being hit by something should alter a ship's course due to the impact; or fire a thruster to counter the hit. This is due to currently understood physics.

I came across this video and immediatly checked my wishlist! Yep, it was on there since 3/10/21 ! It's been on my wishlist for over 2 years. I will admit tho, that makes me nervous. We have been screwed over too many times by things like this. Sure, 2 years is not that long, but i have no idea when the development of this game started. This genre is my FAVORITE genre and i am EXTREMLY excited for more like this to be developed. The very first game i every truely bing-played was CnC 64......

I remember the 1st time you covered this, even back then I was totally sold on it.. ..not in the glossy AAA hype way, but in a 'this is what 1 man, with honest passion, a vision based on what he knows he can do, and the love to make sure he can do it'. even if this game had fallen by the wayside, I would have looked for a way to support him in whatever he chose to do next. For the record, I had no doubts.. i still don't!

Falling Frontier is on my Wish List for both Steam and Epic, and I will buy it from which ever game service releases it first. I know I good thing when I see it and if the first release of FF takes the shape of an early access version or an Open Beta, so be it. I will absolutely buy the game no matter what form it takes because I know the end result will be glorious. I am aware that this is mainly the work of one man or at this point a small team of people so I'm not surprised the game is still in development and wouldn't be shocked if it took another year to get it ready for launch. As much as I would love to down load a version of this game right now I know to make something this ambitious isn't easy and takes time, so I'm prepared to wait however long it takes. I waited 12 years for Avatar 2 to come out and I've been waiting for many years for Home World 3, and I will be there when Falling Frontier finally comes out!

All the developer integrity aside, I love that this game is set in our solar system. Games that make up a new galaxy full of unique systems are great, but utilising our own solar system allows for a degree of familiarity to anyone who went to school. And limiting the environment to our own solar system should allow for so much more depth to flesh out the lore of whats happened in our past to get us to that point. This is part of what made The Expanse so great. At least before the ring gates that is. It was limited to our solar system. With so much going on between all the space faring factions, why do we need thousands of other solar systems to get confused by? Seems to me this game is going to to be an inch wide, but a mile deep kind of deal. Not a mile wide and an inch deep like some other space games I can think of.

Falling Frontier and Manor lords are THE two games I am most excited about (followed by BG3 and Rogue trader). I am glad dev takes his time with making sure it is ready to go, but as for lack of polish being the main reason current state of gaming industry? I dont think it is that easy. Sure, the upper management / shareholders of large publishers want their roi asap and I am confident 99% of them lack necessary knowledge of what it takes to make a great product. I think far bigger reason for this sorry state is an "evolution" of game into a monetization platform of sorts, games became a vehicle for moneymaking practices (lootboxes, microtransactions, DLCs, battlepasses, etc.). These systems are what the companies think about first (unfortunately), pushing overall quality of the game onto a second track and I think it shows in 2023 more so than ever. That said, when FF comes out, I am buying it twice.
