On this video I'm with Taylor catching blue crabs on a public pier. We had a slow day but were able to make the most of it. We took them home and boiled them and spent some quality time with the wives! I hope y'all enjoy!

People that steam their crabs and put the seasoning on the outside of the crab probably take a bath with their clothes on. They probably don't peel their cucumbers. I bet they chew gum with the wrapper still on it, an swallow it after. I'm just messin yall 😂

Another quality video! Shame that someone would trash that place by leaving fish to die like that. I agree it was someone with a cast net based on the amount of small fish left on the docks too.

I use Alario Brothers rings myself. Awesome traps! You guys look like you had a good time. I crab in Maryland, and found that having a mix of chicken and fish in each trap usually out-catches just one or the other, especially on slower days. Up here, people use clam bags with razor clams for bait also. I like to take clam bags and stuff them with chunks of fish (otherwise the crabs destroy fish too fast). Thank you for the video and crab on! 🇺🇸

Where is the Pier located? Have you tried trout lines for crabs? Is it even legal in Louisiana?

This appears to be the same pier from other shows. If it is, this is the most popular pier in Louisiana. The proof is in what it produces 😊

Hey guys just subscribed to your channel. Love blue crabbing myself. I had a question. Why do you take the boat to the public pier instead Of just driving there?

Definitely different seeing crab’s broiled and not steamed considering I’ve done it that way my whole life and the taste isnt really much different considering we go through about 60boxes+ of LA crabs a week and a lot don’t notice the difference in them. Love the vids, keep it up.

Great video. I have not had crabs either way (I will soon for sure), your explanation about the boiling process versus steaming makes so much sense for sure. I can't wait to try some; hopefully I can find some fresh here new to North Carolina. Thanks for sharing and keep these great videos coming.

And yea, steamed Maryland blue crabs are much better. Vinegar, beer, and JO # 2 is not beatable by any boil. Crabs do taste different in different bodies of water. I’ve never had Louisiana crabs, but Carolina crabs do not have the same great taste as Chesapeake crabs. We import crabs from LA for several reasons, number one being that our restaurants and seafood markets have a year long demand, but our commercial and recreational seasons only last 8 months. LA caught up to, and surpassed MD in total crab haul in the 90’s, when you guys started targeting crabs with cont chicken wire pots (invented in MD). If I’m not mistaken, your crabs in LA don’t mud up for winter, and your season doesn’t close. If you had a Md Crab steamed proper, you’d change your tune, maybe I would too if I slurped some of that boil. One thing I do love is those rings, which LA boys use more than us MD boys. Thanks again

Maybe someone who knew what they were doing would have to steam some crabs for me! I’ve tried steamed crab and although it’s not bad, I just would rather the juice from the boil in the crab. If you don’t over boil them then they never get soggy and mushy. I think that’s the misconception of what we do down here. Would definitely like to try some real steamed Maryland crabs!
