My yearly routine of stocking up on fire-starting wood. I love batonning so I use knives for this job. it helps me appreciate the knives and enjoy their capabilities.
I can conclude the A1 Pro king of batonning knives!

Much love for DBK! Amazing vids and finally someone is a decent enough human being to put the song titles in the description! I've heard the song in countless other videos by other great KZbinrs but no one else leaves their music in the description! Thank you for the great informative vid and the song I have been looking for!

If more people tried a convex grind, they would switch. It does everything well and is the strongest grind. Sharpening is just a matter of stropping if you don't let it get too dull. Thanks for showing us how well it performed.

You should baton the handle like you did with the Gerber Strongarm. Let's see how that Thermorun holds up when pounding it. Or might it be not such a good idea batoning on the handle. You fill in the answer.

I would love to get my hands on the 1.25. I think it would be a perfect allround user with that length. I often miss a bit of length on my bravo 1 so I think the 1.25 would be perfect. The A1 pro is a great knife and I love it a lot. Thanks for watching mate :)

+Dutch Bushcraft Knives The bravo 1.25 in 3v is the goldilocks of knives. It is the Jack of all trade of knives and is very close to being a "perfect" knife. I am not a fan of the bravo 1 due to its' lack of length for how thick it is. I am a huge fan of the bravo 1 lt version especially in elmax (my sharpest knife). highly recommend the bravo 1.25.

Great video and review. I like how you test the products and now I'm convinced to save money for the F1 Pro. Slightly off topic question for you, the "oak wood" you used in the videos, what kind of oak is that? I ask because here in the North central US the bark doesn't look like that, but obviously in the Netherlands you have different species of trees. Also, do you get a chance to practice your bushcraft in the wilderness? EDIT: I know this is the A1 Pro video, but do you know the interior dimensions of box that comes with the F1 Pro? I'm thinking it could be a great dry box for electronics, first aid etc during a backpacking trip.
@DutchBushcraftKnives
@DutchBushcraftKnives 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Erik, I don't knkow the exact dimensions but the box is just is a few mm bigger than the knife. So about the total blade length + 1cm or so. I have a very old video on it which might help you get a feel of the dimensions kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqSqpmikaLyip8U We have Quercus robur, Quercus, Quercus petraea and Quercus Rubra. The Ruba (American oak) is kinda a invasive species here but it's used because of the nice autumn colours. The oak I split in this video is the Quercus robur which is our most common oak. I sometimes go to Scandinavia to experience some real wilderness but I've also been to Canada. In the Netherlands we only have few hectares of real untouched forest left.

If at the same grind and everything, and you say that the A1 pro is 100%, how far would you say the regular A1 would reach in regards of edge retention?
@DutchBushcraftKnives
@DutchBushcraftKnives 8 жыл бұрын
mmm hard one hehe. I still love VG-10 a lot. Price increase never equals performance increase sadly. CoS steel contains a bit more carbon (increases edge retention) and a lot more cobalt (enhances the other elements and increases hardness) . The CoS is also 1-2 HRC harder. This together with my current experiences with the steel I would say VG-10 is about 75-80% what VG-10 is in terms of edge retention. However CoS get's a extremely sharp edge more easily while still very easy to sharpen and maintain. If you want the most out of your money I would say get the vg-10 version. IF you don't mind spending more money the CoS version makes a beast of a knife.
