I used to live in Santa Monica near her, and I would see her around town. Absolutely the nicest lady. I was behind her in line once at a local mom & pop hardware store, and she knew the teenage clerk by name, would just talk and chat with the employees, was so sweet to everyone. Always had time for people, just a normal person. A genuinely kind person.

I met her at a screening for EEAAO and before the movie I saw her off to the side all by herself looking at her phone. I couldn't believe she was alone and didn't have any handlers with her to keep people away. I approached her cautiously and said, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to bother you..." and she said, "You're not bothering me." and I gushed over her and her husband and told her how excited I was to see the movie. She could not have been nicer or more gracious and yet at the same time so down to earth and dropped a couple F bombs. I love her so much!!! Afterwards I also got to meet Michelle Yeoh who was equally lovely and kind. I was bawling like a baby after that movie and I said to Ms. Yeoh, "I'm sorry I'm so emotional but the film was so moving." And she grabbed my hand and looked me square in the eyes and said, "But that's why we go to the movies."

The poor more often look down on the rich than the other way around. Losing your home is traumatic for everyone. Suddenly being homeless is traumatic. Losing cherished photoe and keepsakes is sad. Watching your home go up in flames probably feels like losing a family member after you've been there a while. They have every right to be upset. They may not have to worry about where their next meal will come from, or how they'll live until they rebuild, but they are suffering plenty. They just lost all their neighbors, their kids lost their schools and their classmates and friends because most will relocate. I've faced losing everything but the clothes on my back. Leaving behind everything I knew and starting over. It was traumatic in several ways. I was not without shelter, but homeless and parentless without warning.

Thank you for sharing with the public the importance of the Red Cross, being prepared,and following what the first responders and public safety announcements and instructions . Also one of the most wonderful thing is reminding people about being compassionate towards others in need. 😢❤❤❤😢😢. I'm here in LosAngeles, and it's really a dire situation. So many random fires threw out the Greater LosAngeles area. IT'S HEART BREAKING , so many people losing/lost their homes, pet's , and even as of now, five lives lost.
