And literally crying and shouting when New Vegas was revealed at the very end. Fallout 4 is the game I recommend to new players, but Fallout New Vegas - very dated by now - is where I have my fondest memories.

The (original) bombs fell in 2077, so it's actually been about 157 years since women's' suffrage was ratified-long before Cooper's wife started talking crazy. The Fallout universe just utilizes a retrofuturism aesthetic. The lore reason is that it's an alternate timeline where transistors didn't take off until much later, resulting in the continued use of vacuum tubes and more efficient and widespread adoption of nuclear energy.

So when those execs were listing off hypothetical valut experiments, they are all real vaults you can find in the games. "We could overcrowd a Vault so people have to compete to survive inside it." - Vault 27 "We have been developing a robot to deliver milk, it's quite intelligent. I would like to see a Vault governed by it." - Vault 7 "What about using a Vault to develop a Super-Mutant soldier using illegal immigrants?" - Vault 87 "We could pump psychoactive drugs into the air supply." - Vault 106 "We could separate parents and children." - Vault 29

Fallout is set in a retro-future. So when the bombs hit the first time it was actually 2077!

Hank nuked Shady Sands because his wife (Lucy's mom) saw Shady Sands as proof that civilization had returned to the world outside the vault and she wanted to raise her children there. But Hank saw Shady Sands as everything wrong with the world and didn't want his children out there. He says in episode 8 that he "had to make a choice between their violent world and our peaceful one." A choice between Shady Sands and Vault 33. He says that if wasteland factions can't stop fighting, then factions should be eliminated and only vault dwellers should survive to make a better world. It's the theme of the entire show, what Max says at one point about how everyone wants to save the world but they disagree how. Hank's drunk on Vault Tec koolaid and thinks this is how he will make things better. But I think there's also some anger in there, too, because Lucy's mom wasn't a "true believer" any more.

I think there's also an implied romance between Rose and Lee, which probably played into Hank's jealousy as well.

And it's extreme hypocrisy by Hank to be angry at anyone from Vault 32 or 33 for stopping to be "true believers". Unlike "Bud's buds" from Vault 31 who signed up for this, the dwellers of Vault 32 and 33 were tricked into being part of this experiment.

Vault 33 problems with multuple people (not just Rose) going out started 2277, and was all over the same year (supressed by Vault 31 counter actions), then 5 yrs after all that, Shady Sands got destroyed (possibly/likely a nuke, although not 100%)..

9:57 I’ve seen folks contemplating if there’s a level of jealousy from Dane towards Lucy for potentially taking Maximus away. Potentially dubious however with Dane’s injury and what we’ve seen of the BOS I wouldn’t doubt Dane is somewhat shunned as well. They would suddenly be in Maximus’ place.

Been waiting to see this hit YT! I loved this show! All three characters ended up becoming different animals altogether: Lucy ends up choosing to separate from her dad (almost killed him) instead of rescuing her dad. Maximus ends up freeing the person who hurt him and Cooper ended up finding a reason to actually live again instead of just playing badass cowboy. Just great writing all around!! Cooper's wife makes sense because she was alone while Cooper was at war with multifunctional armor and she was just waiting for bad news or for a bomb to be dropped at any moment. She goes to get a job that puts her in a position to protect her family. In her view the bombs are going to be dropped anyhow and if she were to leave her job it just puts her family in danger too. I'm looking forward to getting more background on her next season. Lucy's dad absolutely loves Lucy and all his horrible actions also include him "protecting" Lucy in his view. Granted, nuking a town is quite a bit much, but he was a corporate guy who bought in fully and simply did things against his Vault Tec training when it comes to possibly protecting Lucy. He even inserts the code when she tells him! Also Lucy and Norman, the "super managers" end up getting the most information and making the biggest moves in the show. So many strings connected in the show AND they put it on Amazon which feels like a ballsy move. Appreciate the help out of your reactions!
