To make things fly using temporary foundations, simply remove the foundation. You don't have to do any fancy quicksave/quickload shenanigans. One thing I like to do is slap down a stairwell, then attach a small foor tile to the top of the stairwell, then delete the stairwell. Stick one of those round ceiling lights underneath it, and it looks like a high tech hover jet or something. You can use that floating platform for whatever. I like to stick turrets on them.

There is a few things you can do with it which I haven't been able to do any other way. Like place crops in the air. But then again, I barely ever build settlements so I'm not really very knowledgeable about other methods you can use.

@@Geta92 Gotcha, for putting crops in the air you can use the Garden Plot object from the Resources menu. (It's in the same group as the brahmin feed trough, fast travel marker, etc.) Lay down your foundation, then put your garden plot on top. If you store the foundation in the workbench, the garden plot remains floating in mid-air, and you can plant crops directly on it. (If you try to MOVE the foundation, the garden plot on top will stay attached to it. But if you just STORE the foundation, the garden plot gets frozen in the air.)
