Survival players must watch out for infection from Bloatfly Spit. But they would benefit from increasing their Adrenaline. The components are not going to be easily assembled. Probably best left until late game, when the best weapons are on the drop table.

That's true, it would help. That said it's still worth doing with maybe a stealth build early (ish) on survival. It really helps to farm an array of armors to help build up some defence.

I use to do this a while back but I never thought of using it on the flies to respawn more flies, lol. Nice tip! It makes this method much much better. I might add that doing this at a location like National Gaurd Training Center where the enemies are sleeping, might make it even easier. Thanks, you always have great content.

@@TrappedInFallout When the legendary bloatfly spawns in, immediately go into vats and quicksave. This has worked for me and hopefully for you as well. The prefixes change like it would normally. Thats whats great about it.

I wouldn't use this method to try and get the exact legendary item I'm after. The likelihood of getting a specific weapon or armor piece with the exact legendary prefix you're after is right next to impossible. However, if you're on survival mode, this is a good method to use because the save-scum method is unavailable. You'll just have to settle with what you get. On standard, there IS a good reason to use this method though. When hunting specific items, say an explosive shotgun, it helps to kick out legendary prefixes by finding legendary items first, since getting a legendary item drops that prefix out of the loot pool for a while. If you just got an item with the prefix you want, but not the item, use this method to cycle through available legendary prefixes. Just make sure you save after a few drops.

Wow, I had no idea that there was a pool of 'spawn items' on a list and that each time you get a legendary item, it's removed from that pool. Thanks so much for sharing that - this is another reason why I love playing Fallout, you learn something new even after years of playing.

Far as I can see, your method is simply the same thing. Just instead of reloading saves you have to: 1) Locate a syringer rifle 2) Locate the required crafting ingredients in sufficient quantities 3) Craft the ammo 4) Pick a location and enemy to use for this ridiculous method Fair that this doesn't require reloading saves constantly, but its also not a guarantee for legendary bloatflies to spawn, or any to spawn period. Whereas the N-G update gave us the All Hallows Eve quest which provides us a guaranteed legendary enemy after a wave of normal enemies. It uses the original save reload method but guarantees a legendary drop, all you have to do is get the timing right on when to save and quicksave during the main fight. Or some other CC content like the Captain Cosmos pack provides you with 3 or 4 guaranteed legendary enemies in addition to a handful of regulars that have the usual chance to roll as legendary spawns. The Gunners vs Minutemen content can also provide multiple legendary enemies, but those are all truly randomized with no guarantees.

In short yes. I used the same enemy in this guide to essentially demonstrate the method but you don't have to do that. You can play the game normally and when you encounter an enemy fire the Syringer at it and then take it out. After you take care of the Bloatfly, carry on onto the next enemy. So I used this method on the same enemy but to use this passively (as I mentioned) you would basically do this on all enemies as your normally play - I hope all of that made sense.
