The moment you fell off that bridge as your first death, I knew I was in for a fun ride. Also, in order to get With Our Powers Combined to trigger, you also need to be hostile with the Brotherhood. So go kill a bunch of Brotherhood, and the quest can trigger after talking to Preston.

F5/F...9? Used to be F6 in older games, I think. In fairness, though, if you aren't keeping up your normal saves on the side, the quicksave/load function could **** you over pretty hard in mininuke-related situations.
