Fallout 4: Slocum's Joe Donut/Ice Cream Shop

Welcome everyone! In this video I give you a tour of my Slocum's Joe Shop, I hope you all like it. This was a build done using mods and on the XBOX ONE.

If there were ever a CC thing made just for you, this is it, I swear--as soon as I saw it I thought, "Denise is gonna go nuts with this." And lo! You sure as heck did haha Loved the specialty donuts and (of course) the amazing stacking and shelving. The ice cream floats were clever as hell--and I didn't miss the silverware stacked in the glasses in the back, which is something I've always wished I could do. (What did you use for the dish-drying rack next to the prep area? Can't figure it out.) Excellent work as always... thought I gotta admit these colors are burnin holes in my retinas. :P

Thanks, Sar! lol, I have had several people say the same thing. I guess you guys know me pretty well! I'm glad you liked all the crazy stuff I put in here! Putting the ONE spoon into the floats was tedious enough, those weren't easy, even with using mods. The glasses in the back with the tons of silverware in them are from Creative Clutter mod. Not that I couldn't do that, it would just probably take a long time and fry many nerves. lol Sorry the place was a bit "too" colorful. I had actually toned it down quite a bit, it was even more colorful beforehand, if you can believe that! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods, speak soon and take care! :)

Even down to the drink coasters! I’m pleasantly amused by all of your item shrinking and rotating. It’s all very much noticed and appreciated! You are a decorating wizard! There has been many, many slocum joe themed builds since the mod became available and I was most anticipating what you would create! You’ve more than outdone yourself!

Aw, thank you Smi! I was hoping that you would approve :) I also watched quite a few Slocum's Joe builds. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something that someone already did, even though I was fairly certain that I wasn't. I don't say that in an arrogant way, just that my vision of how my builds should look are way different than most. lol Most of the builds I saw were pretty plain, which is fine with me, I love all builds! But I guess they could be described as more lore friendly. I wanted mine to seem like it was a real place that would exist in the past or present. There are tons of these old ice cream parlors and donut shops dotted around the world. Tons of pictures too, so I looked at quite a few. That helps me out with inspiration quite a bit and realism feel of the place. This might be my most favorite build to date. It's always a toss up between my haunted house builds, I hold those close to my heart. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Smi! I hope you are well, speak soon :)

This is fantastic, Denise. There's so much to comment on that I'm guaranteed to omit a few items. The classic pastry tray made with the white tables? Amazing! What a absolutely brilliant idea, and so reminiscent of the genuine article. The stocking of shelves is, as usual, perfect. That extra time you devote to stocking really pays off in the end. The cupcake tray, the coffee tray, the whole display aspect of this build simply had me shaking my head in disbelief. I don't know how you do it, but you're second to none when it comes to decorating and this content seems like a perfect fit for you. The milk shakes! I damn near forgot about the milkshakes. Very good idea. The back area is extremely well thought out, and I like to think that your sink back there (the basin one) is a mixing bowl. That's what I thought it was before you said otherwise. And those speciality dishes? Get. Out. Of. Town. Thank you for the kind mention. I like the clock in idea too, and I must say that I'm jealous of the boat door you used to seperate the back room from the customer area. I was looking for one of those but settled on saloon doors instead. Thumbs up, Denise. I knew I would be impressed by your Slocums Joe. You always impress!

The thing I love about your builds is how dense they are, but at the same time none of it feels... IDK. Forced? Maybe a bad word, but it's busy with a purpose, instead of feeling like you just tossed stuff in there for the hell of it to add texture.

I imagine if the game would have let me, I could have built up the houses surrounding the shop and that might have made it look more integrated into the surrounding environment. I lurk on every one of your videos! I dig the creation club stuff you play with, it's *lovely* for the people that don't have mods like we do. I had a motorcycle accident a few months ago, rattled my brain pretty hard, so if you got a few more views over the last like month and a half? You helped my recovery. :D Keep doing what you do, you're fantastic and deserve a ton more subs. I've only been quiet because it took a few to get my head back to normal. I've been watching the hell out of your content though, as always the little touches... I'd have a hard time making videos myself because at this point I'd need to perma-link your channel just in case I forgot to give you credit for an idea I cribbed from your work. Oh, yeah, no I was actually saying that what you do totally feels natural and lore friendly. A chunk of other youtube builders feel like they force stuff in, build strangely, etc. Like it's dense for the sake of being so. What you do always feels calculated. You're in that circle of builders that are just amazing to watch, because you can feel the thought that was put into every build. Really liked how you made it your own with the front door and especially the ceiling inside. The trim pieces at the roof line, just fantastic. I loved the palm trees. I figured they're plastic and they found them in an old hotel lobby or something. I was talking about you're integration of a different entrance all together. I'm a big fan of mixing building materials, you have become a master at it. I can't blame modders for wanting to work with you. You bring out the best in what they have to offer. I'm really itching to get back to using mods, I soooo miss having options.

There are days I hate how ashamed your builds make me feel. Too damn good Denise! Thanks for the nod, but you did all the hard work. I just opened my stupid gob. Great job (as always) on the decorations! Shame I tell you. I'm always so happy with my clutter and then you go and publish something like this. Oh, and to go with my shame is a nice side of jealousy over not being able to resize objects. So yeah. Thanks. :) Thank you for sharing your vision, this is flat out amazing. In all seriousness it was great! Though far more pre-war than post IMO. No one can afford to build much less stock or shop at this place. I would totally buy one of your custom donut cakes though. I seriously thought the glass window in the middle of the counters was going to give us something like a view of the donut frying operation. Like they do at Krispy Kreme. Hi Japic, how are you today? So glad you stopped by to take a look and comment, I really appreciate that! Aw, bless your heart, I would hate to think that I would make you ashamed or jealous in any way. You have your own special way of doing things, so don't you worry about anything. I do feel very badly about the limitations still for the PS4 folks. Seems like someone would have come up with a way to resize objects by now. I suppose it would TimTimman that would be the mastermind behind that kind of mod though. Maybe he has been working on something similar, I can ask him and see what he has been up to. And feel free to make critiques of my builds, as long as you are not being downright hateful, then it's all good. On that small little room in the middle, I actually had a few ideas on what to put in there. The problem I had was every type of mat I put down in that one particular area, no settler or robot would go to, for whatever reason. I supposed I still could have put a fryer in the window for some more looks though. On the other hand, if they are moving stock in and out of those 2 sides quite often, you might want that area to be fairly uncluttered. But you are right, it was out of character for me to leave it empty! Good call, my friend and I thank you for that. Maybe I will make an arcade next? What do ya think? 1:19 I really love the look of the front and the chairs in front. 3:58 Wow ! Those barrels are awesome looking. I like how you divided the store with that glass wall in the middle. 5:39 Mmm ! Milkshakes ! 9:40 That is a really neat idea. 10:08 Interesting counter tops you have here. Is this one of your friends mod as well ? 11:33 That is cool and tasty looking too. 17:09 - 18:29 The cactus one is a nice shade of green. Mint ice cream is one of my favorites. The Dogmeat one is quite cute. How could you say anything bad with that cute face there. The Vault tech girl one has great shades of blue in it. Having her hold a cup of coffee was simply brilliant. I also love how she is wearing a chefs hat. But I do have to say this is my favorite one here. The Flamingo cake ! Quite an eye catcher and the next cake are my favorites you have made. So the Volcano sweetroll cake is quite magical. 20:20 Weird question for you. Do you get that robot theme with the CC DLC or did you get it somewhere else ? 23:47 Great donut and Icecreem parlor Phoenix. Thanks Turkey! I sure do appreciate that, and I love how you do notice my base objective is to just try to do something different every time. There are certain things that I love so much I will use them over and over again, but mostly I just try to change things up all the time. Granted it's not as easy as it used to be with SO many other wonderful builders out there now. But in trying to do that I think it just stimulates the mind further to hit a creative point that I probably wouldn't have gotten to without everyone else building their stuff as well. Thanks, Smi! I have lots more ideas for those specialty donut platters! I wish I had some FX that did like a lava flowing down a mountain type of thing. That would have been perfect for the molten lava one on the end. Glad you liked these, I plan on trying to attach shrunken down curtains to the sides on the next one to see if I can get that foldy icing look on the outside, it would make them look more like actual cakes. I could try to make a 3 tiered wedding cake! lol And the list goes on and on...

BOO!!! Creation Club build. This Sucks!!! ;-) I recently joined the dark side and picked up the 4 CC workshop packs in the recent sale. I'm sure I'll never build anything that rivals this build though. Turned out really good Phoenix! Kinda reminds me of a Braum's restaurant (Or is it store? I'm never sure what to make of that place) Ice cream on the sign and right, Burgers on the left, and mini grocery store jammed somewhere in between. Not sure what they were thinking but I do know they spike the burgers with heroin or Jet as every time I'm near Oklahoma I find my way to one of them. I imagine your doughnut store would be the same. Everything looks so tasty it would always be worth the long walk across the commonwealth. I'm not entirely convinced the Manager and his guard are not secretly pimps but hey you gotta pay for all that doughnut mix somehow. Those cupcakes turned into ice cream look suspiciously like Brahmin manure to me. Even more so than food paste ;) Great Job Denise!

Everything is great. Finally getting to spend some more time at home and not in hotels. Of course for all I know it won't last long although technically that's a good thing as that is where the money is. One of those careful what you wish for type of things. Kevin and I were recently having a discussion on his loco4pack #5 challenge vid about his giant pillow and small Brahmin meat. Oh wow, the finished product is great. Hi Denise! Of course some tables *should* be empty - made it look more realistic. As soon as I saw the shakers, I thought, "Ah yes, cream & sugar on one side / various sprinkles for the ice cream side." I said out loud, "Gasp - look, she put turban vents on top of the Slushie machines!" (Weird thing to do; I was alone.) Robo-Mr-Donut-Cashier made me laugh! I loved the clock-in station in the employee area and the instant I saw the Institute cabinet I thought, "Hey, neat - a freezer" before you even explained it. Ha ha, of course there would be pumpkins in the prep area for pumpkin spice coffee! Loved the specialty cakes with "sparklers." As always, thank you for taking all the time to do this!

BTW, thanks to your video I just realized (and it still freaks me out) that it's called "Slocum's Joe" and not "Slocum Joe's." Maybe it's just habit that I switched that around in my mind because I've been so exposed to "Eskimo Joe's" for all these years." PS: Oops, also wanted to mention that those thing-a-ma-bobs on top of the Slushie machines are actually called "turbine vents", but... you know how we love to mispronounce things around these here parts y'all. You use Place Anywhere to shrink and rotate, right? I have Place Anywhere, but have never used those features. Have you ever had problems with resizing things?

Yes, I use the Place Anywhere to shrink and rotate and reposition items. I have never had problems resizing things, sometimes the item will go invisible if you shrink it too much, but that is about the only issue I have come across.

You sound like what I did to poor Sar too, I bugged him until he started his channel. And you bugged him until he start a Patreon. lol We are 2 peas in a pod, aren't we? I sometimes feel bad about pressuring Sar, but look at how his channel has grown! His channel gets a lot more taffic than my channel does! lol But seriously, I couldn't be happier! Funny how things work out that way, it really tickles me. So maybe the Patreon idea will work out in the same successful way? I hope so! So anyways the answer is yes! I have supported Sar's channel since day 1 and will continue to do so. I like to link our work, so maybe I can remake some of his builds so that I can give him some more exposure in the months to come in some of my build videos. :) He had better remember us when he gets rich...lmao!! Yes that is how I decorate, except when making items static it can get very tedious selecting and deselecting each item so that it doesn't drop down when you leave the settlement. Thank you for watching 💐

No, I got the Slocum Joeatron robot from a different mod. It's called M's Abominations and the mod author is M150. It also adds in a few more unique robots that you can make.
