Fallout 4: Top 5 Nuka World Secrets and Easter Eggs You May Have Missed in Fallout 4’s Final DLC

Fallout 4 was already a massive game upon its initial release but a series of DLCs and updates continued to expand upon the already vast wasteland for nearly a year after Fallout 4 released. The final and arguably largest of these expansions, was the Nuka World add-on. Nuka World took Sole Survivors into the remains of an odd theme park under raider occupation, introducing Fallout 4 players to a totally different setting with unique themes. Like the base game itself, the Nuka World DLC is loaded with a plethora of Easter Eggs, hidden details and fun facts that even today remain hidden to much of the community. So today, we’ll be diving into my top five Nuka World secrets and Easter Eggs you may have missed in Fallout 4.

If you explore the town of Bradberton before you encounter Oswald, you can can find a holotape from his girlfriend. If you have that holotape on you when you confront Oswald, you can give it to him and he will leave the park with the ferals. Doing so will bag you his sword and Top hat but not his tuxedo

Potentially related, though perhaps not, the Mayor is considered an employee at the Boston Public Library, where lifetimes of knowledge are being encoded into the computers there. It would be a potential location for an information sweep operation to help locate Pre-War tech and whatnot. We know from places like University Point that the Institute has a keen interest in tech but can be rather crude and imprecise in identifying and securing said tech.

It is always difficult to translate between languages, and ultimately comes down to which words the translator wants to use. This is why we get stuff like all the different versions of The Odyssey. Suggestion for video on Skyrim mysteries: A mystery that’s been plaguing me ever since the first couple of hours of my very first Skyrim playthrough almost eight years ago is just who is Drelas. For those of you don’t know, Drelas is a Dunmer mage living in the eponymous Drelas’ Cottage, north-west of Whiterun. The cottage will have an apprentice level lock that the player will have to pick in order to enter. Once Drelas detects you, he will immediately turn hostile, and proves to be quite a difficult opponent, due to his high level spells and the lack of space in the cottage, which actually caused one of my very first deaths in the The Elder Scrolls series. Once you’ve murdered him to death... that’s it. He has no unique lines of dialogue, isn’t tied to any quests, and isn’t mentioned or referenced anywhere else in the game, which makes you wonder why Bethesda went to the trouble to give him a unique name and a location on the map when he could have easily been just an unnamed NPC in an unmarked location. What makes this even more of a mystery is that even after you kill him, anything that you take from his house will be labelled as ‘stolen’ and any companions that are with you at the time - in my case, Lydia - will tell you to leave. Perhaps at some point in the game’s development, he was supposed to be involved in some sort of quest but this simply never got implemented. Whatever the case may be, only Drelas knows for sure, and Drelas isn’t talking. Another mystery in The Elder Scrolls V is just who is the Ancient Dragonborn? For context, one of the new shouts introduced in the Dragonborn DLC is Dragon Aspect, which despite being labelled in the game as a shout, actually functions as a power, which can be activated once per day. With all three words of the shout, on top of decking you out in an ethereal set of dragon armor, it also offers a 25% increase to power attacks, a 125% increase to armor rating, a 25% increase to fire and frost resistance, increases the effects of shouts and decreases the time between them for five minutes; quite useful for difficult boss fights. However, a secret ability of the shout that the game doesn’t tell you about directly is that if your health falls below 50% in battle while the power is active, it will summon an Ancient Dragonborn to assist you in battle. The Ancient Dragonborn will also have a similar set of ethereal dragon armor above a set of Ancient Nordic Armor, wielding an Ancient Nordic battleaxe, and will use several shouts in combat. Okay, so this guy sounds like a handy companion to have in battle, but it begs the question of just who is he? We know from the title the game gives him that he’s a Dragonborn, but who is he exactly? The Dragonborn DLC mentions that Miraak was the first Dragonborn, so was this guy the second Dragonborn? Is he a Septim? What’s confounds this even further is that, as I mentioned earlier, he will have the same ethereal dragon armor that the player receives when they activate Dragon Aspect, and one of the words for this shout can only be found in Apocrypha, meaning that this dragonborn must have acquired this shout through Hermaeus Mora. Is this Ancient Dragonborn a second attempt by old Herma Mora to recruit a dragonborn and the player is actually the third. One of the wilder theories that I have about this Ancient Dragonborn is that it’s perhaps a shade of Miraak himself, since this ability of the shout never activates for Miraak, despite him using the shout in the battle against him. Perhaps this is a side effect of you absorbing Miraak’s soul and taking it into your own? Whatever the case may be, since this shout can only be used by a dragonborn, it’s unlikely that we’ll get a conclusive answer any time soon.

Oswald's tale is even sadder if you stumbled on Rachel's body in Bradberton Town. Her holotape with her last testament on it before deciding she couldn't endure turning feral becomes a conversational option to give it to Oswald. It's a heartbreaking moment which effectively ensures that you talk him down regardless of your charisma.

Nate fought in the Sino-American war of the 2060’s but not at The battle of Anchorage, it’s confirmed by the terminal entry’s that General Constantine Chase tested the simulation himself and claimed it didn’t feel right. A later log says that he changed it so much the simulation was ‘divorced from reality’ meaning it probably wasn’t based on Nate at all and was mostly made up

Slight correction: Oppenheimer didn't coin the phrase “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” He was quoting the Bhagavad Gita (which he mentions in the interview the quote derives from). There is a moment in the book that centers on a dialog between a great warrior prince named Arjuna and his charioteer Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Vishnu. Arjuna is facing an opposing army that has among it many of his relatives and friends, and he is unsure of where his duty lies. He basically asks Vishnu to show him the true nature of divinity, to show him something that transcends his life and proves there are powers and realms beyond him. Vishnu obliges Arjuna, and transforms into an aspect closer to his true form, having many mouths and many eyes and it was said “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one.” Which seems like a fitting characterization of that first atomic bomb explosion: a terrifying manifestation of inhuman power that transcends what a normal mind could encompass.

Robert Oppenheimer didn't coin the phrase "I am become death, destroyer of worlds" He was quoting the Bhagavad Gita, which is a portion of the Mahabharata, a Hindu or Vedic epic poem from around 400 BC

I don't think you know what the term "coined" means, at least not in this context. Oppenheimer may have absolutely been referencing an old poem with that phrase, but popular culture famously attributes it to him, which, coincidentally, is exactly what "coined" means in this narrative. The thing about Bethesda is that they show a lot of care and quality regarding small details, but tend to almost always flop in regard to the main narratives of their games. If one completely ignores the main story of any/all of their games (except maybe Doom 2016), Bethesda games are ridiculously great. But care enough to want to know what's actually going on within these games...and then things kind of become frustrating.

I like how the game nods to the IRL rivalry between Coke and Moxie, the real life counterpart to Vim. The funny thing is, is that not only is Moxie about a decade older than coke, but they also pioneered some of the modern marketing techniques that we today take for granted. Nate: You forgot to mention Rachel , Oswald the Great's best friend / lover he sent out to find a cure for ghoulism, but she took her own life rather than go feral. You find her corpse in Bradburtonville near the park and her holotrape gives you a more peaceful way to get Oswald to stand down.

You can still do most of the quests if you kill everyone. You can't do any of the repeateble ones that you get from the gang bosses or the gauntlet fighting, and you don't get the unique perks the gangs offer, and obviously you don't get to smash the Commonwealth. But you still get to clear the rest of the park and restore power.

I saw a video about a mod where you use the minutemen to storm Nuka-World. Upon completion of Open Season, the mod keeps minutemen NPC's in the Nuka-Town proper to give the place a more lively look. A nice option for those who want to be the good guy, but since it's a single player game with virtually infinite saves, don't see what the problem ever really was. Oh, and just to note, raider settlements are just plain awesome.

Actually with Joel being a name coming from Hebrew, Jo'el would be a more appropriate way to say it. In French for example, Joel is written with "ë" which makes the pronunciation go from Joel to Jo'el.

Suggestions for Tiny Details videos for Skyrim: One of the locations on the island of Solstheim is an ancient Nordic ruin called White Ridge Barrow. This ruin is filled with a unique type of spider enemies that come in a variety of different types, including spiders that deal fire, frost, shock, or disease damage, that either jump at you and explode or walk towards you when they detect you, and even have the power to mind control bandits and force them to attack you. As you progress further into the ruins, it’s revealed that these spiders are being created by a pair of Dunmer siblings, and once you murder them to death, you’ll then be able to learn how to create these spiders yourself and use them as weapons against your enemies. Sounds like quite a useful and unique reward for completing a dungeon, right? However, what’s interesting is that in the diary of one of the Dunmer that was creating these spiders, it’s mentioned that the two of them only found the spiders here originally and then learned how to create more of them and use themselves, just like the player will after completing the dungeon. This begs the question of where these spiders came from originally. Well, as it turns out, there is an answer to this question; it’s just not in The Elder Scrolls V. In The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind expansion, there is an unmarked location south-east of Vivec City, where the player can receive a short quest from Lady Clarissa Laurant. She’ll mention how several people that she came here with have begun acting strangely and suspects that it has something to do with the spiders in the area. To make a long story short, it turns out that the spiders were being controlled by a daedra to take control of mortals. After the Vestige defeats the daedra and the quests ends, Lady Laurant mentions that she’ll take the information that she gathered on these strange spiders and send it to a contact of hers AT WHITE RIDGE BARROW. Yup, it turns out that the results of an inconsequential side quest by the Vestige ends up affecting the Dragonborn over a thousand years later. This was quite an interesting nod by ZeniMax Online, especially since this side quest is quite out of the way, not near any marked locations on the map, and quite easy to miss if you’re not searching for it. Another tiny detail about The Elder Scrolls V, did you know that it’s actually possible to create a time paradox. Okay, let me give some context. Dragon Priest’s are high ranking servants of the Dragons from when they previously ruled Skyrim, thousands of years ago. There are eight particular named Dragon Priests in ruins scattered all over Skyrim, and serve as powerful bosses. Each of these eight Dragon Priests also have a mask with a unique enchantment, which in-game, serve as a reward for defeating them. Something that the game doesn’t directly tell you is that if you go to the ruins of Labyrinthian, you can find a wooden mask, modelled after the Dragon Priest masks, and if you put it on while in the room that you found it, you will be transported back in time to when the ruin wasn’t a ruin. This not-a-ruin will have a shrine that you can place other Dragon Priests mask on to, and if you place all eight masks on it, it will unlock a final, ninth mask as an extra reward for acquiring the other eight. You can then simply take back the eight masks you placed to get the ninth, remove the wooden mask, and return to your own time, one mask richer than when you first left... or you could do something interesting. If you go into your inventory and drop the wooden mask while you’re still wearing it, you will be transported back to the future, while the nine dragon priest masks are still in the past, with now no way of getting back to them. From an in-universe perspective, you took these masks back in time where they will eventually be found by the dragon priests, who will then wear them while they rule over the early Nords in the Dragon’s stead, until eventually they’re defeated and sealed away with their masks for thousands of years, until the Dragonborn comes along, defeats them and takes their masks, and takes the masks back in time where they’ll then be discovered by the Dragon Priests, who will wear them while ruling over the ancient Nords and so on and so on forever. This begs the question of where these masks came from in the first place. The Dragonborn only acquired these masks because they defeated the dragon priests who had them, who only had them because the Dragonborn took them back in time, where the dragon priests first found them and why does everything taste like copper? Okay, Bethesda probably didn’t do this intentionally, but it’s still fun to realise that you can create a time paradox nonetheless. Perhaps this is why there’s so little time travel in The Elder Scrolls series. During the quest ‘The Only Cure’, Peryite will send the Dragonborn to a Dwemer ruin to kill Orchendor; Peryite’s current champion, who Peryite says has ‘strayed from the path’. In battle, Orchendor proves quite difficult to defeat due to a 100% resistance to all magic, and a unique effect that allows him to periodically teleport around the room that he’s fought in. Well, if after defeating him, you then resurrect him with a dead thrall spell to make him a permanent follower, if he takes damage in battle, his unique teleportation effect will activate and teleport him somewhere else in the nearby vicinity. Now, when this happened in my playthrough, he only teleported a few inches away, effectively making this effect essentially useless. This may have been a result of it happening outside and Bethesda simply didn’t consider how this ability would work outside of the room that he’s fought in in the quest.

I suspect that the Dr McDermot NPC would have offered the option to wipe out the Pack in the Safari park, so he can continue to experiement in peace. I would think he would have given you a mcguffin that stopped the gatorclaws attacking you, or even that allowed you control them, similar to the institue synth granades, or robot hacking mechanic, but they couldn't get it working or it messed with other quests so it got removed wholesale.
