It used to be worth it. The damage it used to do got nerfed harder than anything else in the game. It used to be a perfect counter PVP wise to bloody builds, any multi-hit weapon such as shotguns or the harpoon gun with the right mod would result in most targets dying in at most 3 shots excluding the Queen and maybe the super mutant behemoth (I never tested against one.) And at the time I wasn't running a min/max build, I was just focused on carry weight.

It’s good now with the snowball nerf the alien blaster with poison mags plus the armor and a pistol build it’s a meta in my opinion

I remember this to have been absolutely busted in PVP, back in the day when Survival Mode was still a thing. Prior to a big nerf, the DOT was stackable, so with a fast firing weapon, like a legendary explosive Minigun you could get a lethal amount of poison on another player within a second or two and at decent ranges, too, since the DOT has no damage dropoff. Fun times, poison resistance as a legendary perk only became viable for PVP when this set was a thing and in that case it was a complete game changer. I think it can still be decent in PVP against targets that lack such resistances, after all any additional damage is good damage and it does counter bloodied to some degree. That being said, PVP in this game is kinda dead, yet my set of legendary Power Armor for PVP does have two pieces with poison resistance, just in case Bethesda actually decides to give PVP players some new content after removing both Survival and Nuclear Winter for pretty much no reason, other than cutting costs.

I started to use this armor recently because I finally got the ultracite calibrated shocks. I had it in my stash for years, then when PA displays released it was a camp display piece. Now I can finally use it. It's my favorite PA design, but it's also not super useful. Excavator or the Pitt PA really show it up with their utility.

For me the major benefit of this armor is to tick some DMG on events to gain exp. Wich sometimes you miss the opportunity if the event is too crowded

Tesla Coils on normal PA is the same. I use to use it on SBQ events when I tanked. It would aggro everything and be on me. Made it easier for people to kill them as well.

So I crafted it too, I did it all Assassin and I use it in a Cold Shoulder build, so I'm doing Poison and Cold with every hit, I have yet to try it on a player because I tend to only PvP in defense I was just tired of PvPers harassing people and I thought it would be interesting to try. Also if you have a Legendary effect that does damage, the Set Bonus works with that too. But I think it might be bugged.

I bet this was the perfect armor for afk leveling. I saw a video about underground base, where scoarched were spawning infinitely benith ultracite ore, this might be fixed right now, but I imagine how many levels you could get by simply standing) I might try this armor some day, this game still have a lot of undiscovered features.

stranger is oky i have calibrated shocks for it but i would also go for union pa rather much better i just wish that union had unyielding effect

Just a fashion choice, nothing more, however it has some utility in PvP. The biggest issue is getting plans to mod it, because that darn giant bat has a drop chance close to zero.

I wonder if the difference between the Lvl 50 Super Mutant and the Lvl 60 Hound could be explained by the Ricochet perk, since I think that may be giving an additional stack of poison to the super mutant, but I'm not certain

Possibly. It was just generally hard to tell if the poison was really doing anything at all except against weak enemies.

I made a set for display purposes only. My understanding is that way back when there were vault raids, this set was effective, but it hasnt scaled to current content. which is kinda sad.

I use it, with legendary Assassin's mods, resistance to Cryolator and explosion damage.

one thing you did not mention that with strangler the pepper shaker goes very well together so then the powerarmor is good

@wiggle_plays yeah even with boss fights does poison damage when firing and makes using the pepper shaker a better weapon most pvpers also uses this combo aswell

Thanks for the video bro! Liked the different look! But realized it's not worth it ,once a made a full.set! I keep on display! Don't even use it Bethesda needs to enhance it! Give some extra carry weight, add bleed like you suggested! Something! Yeah , imo not worth it! Right now lol.

Poison damage effect is equal to sneezing on a scoorchbeast. Next to zero damage from the set bonus.

Just not worth all the hassle. Vault Raids were so buggy at the beginning you could lose everything doing them. I never bothered & even though I have all the plans it still makes no difference. Excavator PA is as good as any if truth be told.

It's too bad that poison isn't treated as x0.75 damage to robots as acid damage in this game. I wouldn't expect robots to take the same scale of damage as an organic creature of course. Odd that organic creatures of a low resistance to poison take little to no damage after a certain level.🤔 Thanks for the informative video.✌️

You forgot a main aspect of this armor. 30/3sec added poison to attacks

I didn't forget. It just wasn't any more useful than the passive effect. It dealt nice damage to low level enemies that already die easily and high level enemies were barely affected. I'm told it's good for PVP but that's not something I participate in.

@@wiggle_plays true, but out of all PA it's the current only set that adds to damage dealt. No other set does that. And it's not meant to be a weapon by itself. Just augment what you deal. Example I use this set with holy fire and plague Walker. I am a menace like dot locks were in world of warcraft lol

Ultracite calibrated shocks plan is a stupidly rare drop from the scorchbeast queen and scorchbeasts.

Nope. Just kill as many scorchbeasts and scorchbeast queens as possible. Here is the drop chance: SBQ 0.081% and Scorchbeasts 0.0081%

Hear me out... Change it from poison damage to "acid damage" instead of damage it just "melts the armor of enemies" so acts as a tenderizer perk up to a capped percentage. 3% for 15 seconds capped at 10-15%. Maybe doesnt effect energy resistance. Would make sense immersion wise when used against super mutants and especially robots.

Great looking, useless armor. DOT in 76 is pure trash. And this set got nerfed a long time ago, only thing its good for now is looking pretty in a display.

Yes. Ultracite tesla coils plan has the same drop chance as calibrated shocks, unfortunately.

Every single power armour has its ups and downs my suggestion is to use the strangler heart only for PVP sentinel assassins with cryo resistance since that's what everybody is using nowadays and if you want to run around like a PVE piece of shit use Union power armour with overeaters it is extremely overpowered and you do not need funky duds in order to compensate for the acid damage
