I dont know about everyone else, but I feel like one of the best things they did was nail the multiplayer feel on the head. It isnt some COD game or a GTA lobby, its fallout. You sometimes run into someone else, but not constantly. Other than that, the road is an open one for you to walk.

@@lego007guym8 Hmm, not if they only add just a few more. I don't mean a lot. To me, it makes no sense how empty Appalachia is, given how good a condition that place it. Seems like it wasn't hit as hard as other places. D.C. in Fallout 3 was way worse, smaller map, yet they had more major cities with quests as well as smaller settlements and yet it still felt pretty open, not too much life.
@romxxii2 жыл бұрын
@@batteryacid2649 there are already plenty of fixed settlements with NPCs in the current release: you have four different core factions occupying several regions (Foundation, Crater, Fort Atlas, and the new base of the Responders). There are also the enemy human NPCs which have their own settlements like the Blood Eagles and the Cultists. There are also a crapton of main story quests; IIRC going from level 1 to 50 just chasing the main questline takes maybe a week or more to complete, assuming you're not powerleveling with a high level teammate. Is endgame content thin? Yes. The Fort Atlas questlines can be finished in a day. The Wastelanders questline can be ridiculously short if you decided to only play with one team and completely avoid the other, and is further padded out by reputation grinding (which thankfully can be avoided thanks to Minerva). I've yet to test out the Pitt content, but from what I hear it's like Daily Ops, so not really story-heavy content.
@romxxii2 жыл бұрын
@@batteryacid2649 oh and to your point about Appalachia's emptiness: part of the original storyline (and is still the tutorial questline) is discovering how the Scorched wiped out the Brotherhood and the Responders, while the Raiders sort of broke up.

Inon Zur is a fantastic composer, and his stuff has always been well-made and a treat to listen to in Fallout, but I'll always miss the bite the older Fallout games had when it came to ambient music. The beeps of morse code, the air raid sirens blaring in the background, the random radio chatter, pipes being banged together, the tolling of Church bells, things like that. It always gave the environments depth. They were location appropriate and represented the echos of the old world bleeding into the post-apocalyptic hellscape.

I really delved into this game in a strange part of my life since I had loved all the previous fallouts. This one was terrible upon launch, I am going to be honest. But after I kept playing it and meeting new people and fighting in nuclear winter and grinding for the best power armor, I began to love logging in every day and setting up another part of my camp, visiting other people just to say hi and goodmorning. I eventually found a whole discord that I made a bunch of friends in and played this game religiously with. It's the best cooperative multiplayer experience I've had and that is thanks to the community within the game. If you haven't given this game a try, know that it is better now, coming from someone with ~1800 hours of playtime.

Playing this game for free on game pass is a nice little treat, and I suggest playing it without the radio on to hear this amazing soundtrack. Up until the "endgame", it truly feels like playing fallout 4 with a few mods installed and a huge, beautiful new map. The combat isn't as engaging because you need perks to be able to actually cripple limbs on enemies, otherwise its just shoot them in the head until they die. Also the "endgame" daily stuff is just flatout stupid. But for a free game on game pass its a ton of fun getting legendary weapons and making a cool little camp.

Often these business people are extremly out of touch within the world of game development and their core audiences (me and you). The true passionate developers/artists have to put up with that kind of shit. "Yea stop working on the new singleplayer Fallout and turn it into a MMO" (Fallout 76). The same kind of shit that EA and Activision-Blizzard pulls... Battlefront 2 (Lootboxes), Diablo Mobile and The Elder Scrolls: Blades. $$$ I won't pour my money to feed this kind of structure. I think you may be blaming the composer for something that he is not to blame for. Yes, a post apocalyptic game shouldn't have tones such as this, but Fallout 76 isn't post apocalyptic, really. The game itself is way too up-beat, low stakes and theme-parky to support any sort of serious dark and gritty soundtrack. Inon Zur delivered exactly what the game as they designed it needed: an atmospheric tune that is a relaxing background to your romps across a game that has little to do with the original post apoc themes of the Fallout franchise and setting. Bethesda deliberately stepped away from that in all sorts of ways in this game and if Inon Zur had tried to deliver on something that would've fit with the franchise, then it would've been jarring and ill-fitting for the game they actually produced. It's a good fit for the game, but not for the theme you'd expect the game to have based on the franchise it claims to play in on the tin.

I still feel if the game had launched in its current state, it'd have gotten much less backlash.
