Despite popular opinion, shotguns can be very good weapons even if you aren't using the Cold Shoulder. This is my version of a full health shogun build.

To new players try to unlock all the legendary slots on your first character as its unlock is account wide. Meaning any other character you make will have immediate access to legendary card slots ( level 1 cards though) giving you a big boost on your next character

When I log in today, it'll be day 9 for me. First character. Im level 108. And I plan to have a second character after earning and finishing my gauss shotgun build round level 250 or so. This info definitely helped. Inhad no idea my second character would start with a Diablo 3 Paragon boost. ​@@JwhateverJ

Love seeing the lower startup builds. I have started 3 alts, one rifleman, one commando, and one gunslinger(will be a pirate with, so far, 4 pirate punches once he hits 50th). Main is under 400th level heavy guntruck in excavator and rarely run into anything that makes me want to change my loadout. Starting the alts and going back through the quests has been fun.

To new players who dont know. Ge the meat week Pepper Shaker. Use maxed out shot gunner, expert and master for nine points. Then take 3 points of heavy gunner and expert heavy gunner and your pepper shaker does +100% damage. It shreds, especially when you get a god roll anti armor with weapon speed and breaking slower. I rip mobs in eviction notice and mooonshine jamborie to shreds

Just rolled a full Overeaters solar armor for my full health Shotgun build. Man, that took some time. Will test it out as soon as i get out of my hoarding issues since i am always overencumbered.

I'm running a slight variant of this build but this is an absolute banger if you like being a stealthy shock trooper. Also that animated Escape Artist card is lovely!

I have a bazillion hours in this game and I have looked and looked for the perfect one shot weapon. This year I have finally found a weapon that isn't dependent on buffs and I can keep the perk cards loaded all of the time. The Combat Shotgun with Vats Hit chance. I have a bloodied with VHC and damage resist with reload and a sweet Vampire with VHC. I can one hit level 100 SMs with it. Now if I can find a bloodied VHC with stealth I will be in heaven.

I think shotguns are great for boss level enemies Simply for the crippling effect alone makes them useful

This has been my build since fallout3 1st run is always shotgunner then the no mad psycho jet unarmed build for the 2nd pass

Do you need VATS in this build? You just aim at leg ti crippled, right? I never liked vats. I only used it in FO4 melee builds. Great video, Glad i found this. Thank you.

I have a question. Noticed you're using blight soup. Does that crit bonus only apply to vats or does it also apply to ADS shots like headshots (the yellow damage numbers)

Shotguns are short-to-mid range weapons, so a headshot vats build would be the better option to sneaking around.

I like running Conc Fire 2 or better, with Skeetshooter 2, on my shotgunner. Since you enter VATS so much, having extra "next shot accuracy" on each successive fire helps with shotguns' low VATS accuracy. When out of VATS, slightly wider spread, but that's usually the frantic spray-n-pray while repositioning.

I have an anti armor combat shotgun with 50% vats hit chance and reduced ap. I love goofing around with it. I wish they’d buff them a little tbh. But it is what it is.

I have that exact same combat shotgun. It's fantastic. I actually use it with a suppressor rather than run and gun.

I actually do play this build. My shotgunner has legendary weapons and armor and more legendary perks but this is the base for that character.

Why anyone is creating multiple accounts or characters is beyond me. Why waste time and effort to mule stuff or whatever. The game is old at this point. Just buy extra build slots and stop trying to get 30k caps for bs plans, guns or armor that anyone can grind in less then a yr as newbie. Example…. Last week I spent 30k on an ex power amor chest piece that had a jet pack. Yes rare… yes can not grind. It took me to down to 2k caps and in less then 3 days I was capped out at 40 k caps. Yesterday. Also capped at 40k (1-22-24) I went down to 19k caps and called it a night buying flux and other bs. Today less then 24 hrs I’m capped again. If you play smart. Grind and just play the game you have zero need for a mule or 2nd,3rd 4th characters. It’s a old game and I can drink a couple k Nuba colas in an hr thanks to a collector or selling bs plans and clothes and weapons etc and never have to worry about caps or anything. If you need a mule your an idiot and a small minded person. I’ve played less then a yr I’m over 400 and I’ve dropped more plans and bs in private worlds then most will find or grind. End game is really just building PA to the max… find the rare of rare guns and apparel…. Maxing gold plans… etc. if your stashing plans etc your an idiot. And I don’t care that idiots will pay cash for a trade in game bc they’re to lazy to play the gAME and grind. It’s a video game…

I'm with you on that. Sounds like a way to make it a job...and I think that's why people do it...they don't have an actual job, so this is their work. They need something to work on. I'm just like you...if I want something, I got it on my only character same day. I never had a second character, and my stash is half empty. People don't know how to play.
