@@TheFroneyZone honestly the bigger problem is 343... PJ didn't have some other Tolkien changing the lore as he made his movies, making larger and larger gaps in the lore and causing any coverage of them to go through evolution of multiple media sources while not specifically having good info on which is the higher "canon". At least SW had 6 movies, Halo has 6+ games but among them 4-6 have story content you can no longer repeat and that left out gaps filled by books, while "Reach" changed canon slightly from the books meaning it isn't as simple as using those and the games.

Mind control of the Spartans that they never needed because they were raised. as. soldiers. John's emotional anger and sex scene with a covenant human that shouldn't exist because her very presence in the covenant threatens the power of the prophets. Cortana's limited role and Johns antagonistic attitude toward her for no reason. Why she needs to control his body to fight even though he's been training since 6 and his mind is enhanced by the Spartan program and is already a master fighter. When your faithful to the original source material, it makes people excited for that source material. And when you make the fans of an IP happy and nostalgic for that IP, it creates a desire to engage with that IP in all its forms. Which makes the entire exercise a win for everyone. Which makes it all the more insane that these other shows like Halo go literally out of their way to piss off the fans.

@@VogtTD I suspect that for many of the writers that… basically just throw away the source material… it’s a combination of having a narcissistic consciousness that believes they can write something better than the original vision, and possessing a subconscious driven by an inferiority complex that results in a lacking faith in their own ability to produce an original IP and instead seek to reskin their own stories and ideas under another franchise in an effort to ride brand recognition into fame and fortune. If it was merely narcissistic tendencies, they’d ordinarily get a bigger rush by having their own works outperform the established big names in a medium or even genre within the medium. However, many of these writers and showrunners also had major failures on their resume, or had long lingered in obscurity, causing them to nurture an inferiority complex in the recesses of their minds that they may not be aware of. But that’s not to say that I don’t believe some aren’t in it just to try to make a franchise they are jealous of burn down… I strongly suspect this to be the case with Mindy Kaling with the Velma show.

Having watched reactions from people who have no clue about the Fallout universe, I am pleased to see that the show is just as enjoyable for them apparently. Fallout was simply well made and wasn't afraid of going all in on the game aesthetic and even referencing gameplay weirdness, like pointing a gun while talking to someone, the big bags carried by the "squires" for all the loot, the fact that people suck at shooting with iron sights and so much more. The ultimate game reference was when the Ghoul said something regarding how you will always get sidetracked in the Wasteland; a clear nod to the typical Fallout player completely forgetting their main quest and doing everything else. I haven't watched Halo (nor have I played the games), but from your description it seems they were too afraid to go all in. They didn't want to make a series based directly on a game, but rather "inspired by" which nobody really wanted. Like you said: people liked the games for a reason. TV developers should not assume that video game media is all that different from their format, and Fallout clearly showed this. They even have the same animations for the power armor (except for the jetpack/flying system which is a sensible adjustment for practical reasons in the show)

As someone who's new to the Fallout universe, I'm absolutely loving the show. Funny thing is that Ella Purnell also played a leading character for another S+ show based off a video game series, Arcane. From watching both of these shows I can tell you that the thing they both excel at immensely is characterization. You empathize with the characters in these shows, you can see their flaws, you want them to succeed, and the intricate ways they interact with each other and their environment keeps you glued to the screen. They also both have a gorgeous, distinct aesthetic and music choice in each show, and Fallout has its signature dark humor. Of course Easter eggs and nods to the original fans are great, but both of these shows make it their priority to have deep and fascinating characters that anybody, fan or not, could get attached to. Characterization trumps all. Anyone could watch these shows and get invested. I haven't seen the Halo show, so I can't speak about its quality, but from the scenes I've seen, it looks painfully generic and uninspired. The lead looks like a generic sci-fi action guy. It's hard for me to see it catching the attention of individuals who aren't already Halo fans.

@@pyRoy6the difference with the Last of Us is that it already had a story which was essentially one-to-one adaptable to cinema. The story is intentionally designed in a character driven, episodic way which makes it super well suited to a tv series. Whereas the Bungie Halo games and the Fallout games, outside of Reach, do not have character-focused storylines which makes them really difficult to adapt. That’s why Master Chief in the series feels like character assassination, because he had no real character arc in the Bungie games so the TV writers had a failed attempt to try to insert their own character in his place. So definitely it would work better to either follow the storyline of one of the books or just have a parallel story which doesn’t explicitly follow the Chief’s actions in the original trilogy. 100% agree How awesome would the halo tv show had been if it had centered around an ODST troop during the events of the halo games? New characters new perspective on old stories... interweaving with the games. For example, the show could have shown us the attack on earth while we are fighting on a different platform than Master Chief was and when chief was going to do his space bomb, maybe our troop had to take down sensors or shields so chief could land or just show us chief blowing up the carrier while we watch from a window. Following a new squad of troops could also opened up to all the romance themes that they are forcing the chief into, and they wouldn't need to be in armor 100% of the time, and they could be vulnerable. Hell, guess I'll just go watch Starship Troopers again....

Pretty close to the ODST game itself from a high level, but that's not so bad anyway. It could even be centered around a group of "normal" marines just trying to stay alive while completing their missions. Chief has a soft spot for a good ol' duty-bound soldier, so it would both make sense and be a facet of his character for him to take our protagonist under his wing for a mission (as in a season, or slightly less). The character would be changed by chief and perhaps become promoted to an ODST after some time, then in season 2 have a little bit of overlap with chief but mostly be much more independent due to character development having been with the chief. Perhaps they could now link up with the ODST crew from H3:ODST (maybe this person is actually one of those members). It's so so so so weird that the show decided to make Halo first and foremost about conspiracy. The conspiracy plot has always been there, but only under a few layers of lore (until H4, anyway). The real essence of the game/story is wonder/mystery/discovery, honor-bound duty, and survival against the odds. Arguably it's less important to know ABOUT the aliens/forerunners as it is to be awe-struck and inspired by the aliens/forerunners. And the spotlight of humanity shouldn't be on how much infighting there can be, but on how it can pull together to survive an existential threat (2 of them, actually). Aside from being abysmally made, the show completely misses that point

I think it's less that it was made by fans, but it's the fact that they're respectful of both what they're making but the audience as well. the Halo show isn't respectful of the source material or the audience, and i don't just mean fans of halo, i mean anyone watching it. that's my issue with the Witcher as well. The lead producer said that the reason why they dumbed it down so much is "because their American audience is stupid". That's an absolutely insulting thing to say, and of course a producer would say that, they think their farts smell like roses. I think passion is important but so is respect. As for what happened with err the thing, i had some worries? but they gave an explanation and i'm good now, i would love to hear where the new capital is, i'm hoping it's Arroyo (i would love to see Arroyo or at least their vision of it.)

Dude - the 1993 Mario Brothers movie makes the Halo TV series look bad, the 1994 Street Fighter makes it look bad, the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie makes it look bad. To say nothing of more serious modern attempts like 'The Last of Us' - a show that even my parents watch, as well as myself though not my genre of game. And yes - I will happily watch that 1993 movie, mess that it is, before I watch this Halo series ever again. And seriously - my parents knew when I was playing Halo, even if they didn't always know the name - because the music was that distinct and noticeable. There's a couple times they had to ask me what I was watching cause even when it was using closer to the game music and things they might recognize from even just glances they didn't put 2 and 2 together. My mom watched a few minutes a couple times as I watched shaking my head - with her basically calling out characters for being generic tropes as she tried to understand what she was seeing, which puzzled her why this franchise had been so big before till I broke down things like how Halsey actually is in the canon, the actual canon Spartan II program (not this psuedo robocop BS), and some other things - at which point she went 'wait, that's way more interesting why didn't they do that'? Halo is up there as one of the worst adaptations of all time - the only reason it's not default worst is that Dragonball: Evolution exists, and I acknowledge I may be more forgiving of the '93 Mario Bros film than most.

It wasn't even just that we were "trying" to get a Halo show, Hollywood had FULL ODST GEAR IN OTHER MOVIES, back when Firefly's movie Serenity and the movie District 9 were made... Those movies literally used Halo gear that was already made and sitting on shelves unused about a decade ago and they couldn't finish using a perfect script they later wanted to rebuild from scratch and special effects which are probably the best part of their "show".

It will be interesting to see what happens with Warhammer's TV show. If I was a producer I'd do it like a horror movie where each episode ends on a dark note. It starts with meeting a family who has a very impoverished life on a backwater world, but they're so thankful they don't live in a hive city. We get to see their traditions and religion and some exposition about how they don't know what's really going on, but they fear the Imperium, they doubt that Space Marines even exist and are just propaganda. There's religious enforcers and bureaucrats making life hell. Many of these people are mutated, ill, malnourished. Neighbors start going missing and you get a riff of Invasion of Body Snatchers type thing, where local authorities are concerned about a possible Ork spore invasion and begin a brutal crack down. Henry Cavill shows up as an Inquisitor Idealist , he's trying to balance not committing genocide (because of the planet's abundant harvests) with getting to the bottom of this invasion or corruption plot. He begins thinking agents of Chaos are controlling his command. We find out midseason that it's actually an Tyranid invasion, and Cavill is having to fight against a corrupt Imperial Guard (corrupted by Chaos?), fearful farmers, guardsmen and bureaucrats who might be victims to Chaos or Tyranids, and a looming infestation of Orks. It starts dark, gets darker, gets way darker - stick with the grim dark sadness rather than a focus on big action scenes. In the final episode Space Marine shows up and it absolutely dwarfs Henry Cavill, it represents the Imperium's decision to kill everyone on the planet and Cavill has failed. Warhammer is more popular now than ever and it would be easy to do this show without thinking it needs to be a hardcore shoot'm up like Halo tried to avoid. It shouldn't be action, it should be slow rolling horror with sprinkles of mad violence. With that in mind, it could be done affordably.

Liking or not the format of the game, Fallout 76 is still canon and after watching the show I believe its plot and lore could be quite a bit more important the we might have thought. I mean, we have a vault that (behind all the patriotic and promotional fluff) is ultimately a "good" vault (no crazy experiments done on vault dwellers), is set to open just 25 years after the war and one of the primary directives they give us for when we exit the vault is: "Acquire control over and secure Appalachia's nuclear missile silos". Silos that are apparently fully automated, self-repairing and can produce their own nuclear missiles from a large stockpile of resources. I'm pretty sure the last thing Shady Sands citizens heard before the big boom was "Take me home, country road, to the place, I belong..."

I think a Halo live action movie with John113 giving back the bomb is epic but not very story rich. I think a Series about Sgt Johnson’s career would be really great for world building. He started off fighting rebels and then meets the covenant at Harvest and basically follows nearly every significant event up to installation 00. He has perspective, a really interesting story arch, close ties to Captain Keyes and Miranda Keys as well as Dr Halsey and Cortana. Hell, they could open with John113 giving back the bomb and then after the first season when John113 goes MIA there could be a heap of cuts back to Johnson fighting the Rebels, meeting the Covenant, Defeating the Covenant at Reach and discover the massive fleet that the Forerunners left to help the Humans. There would be so much more of a believable human element and it would be interesting to see how Sgt Johnson explains the rebel situation to Miranda as all Miranda seemed to know was the Human-Covenant War and doesn’t have much, if any distrust towards UNSC or ONI.

What did I like about Halo TV? The big set piece fight scenes with the covenant looked cool. Silver team were good and could be reworked into an interesting side story in canon about a team of Spartans deprogramming themselves. But that’s about it. It’s not like we didn’t have similar or even better versions of those ideas that already existed in the game/book canon. IMO, as polarizing as the Kilo 5 books were, Moral Dictata did the whole Spartan exploring who they could have been way better and in a way more engaging way than the TV series. Heck, they even villainized Halsey better without turning either her or the UNSC into mustache twirling evil.

I suppose one thing that works is setting the story in the same canon. Granted as we see with Star Wars this can lead to predictable stories and in Fallout it can lead to some alterations from the rest of Canon being unpopular, but at least you’re bound to a set of rules that the fan base has agreed to. Everything from retcons, alterations, and other surprises need to logically deviate from what’s been established instead of just doing something out of left field.

The problem is that the big budget people who get on board do not care about the Bungie era books or games. They only care about the more recent productions, which includes Spartan sex with civilians (from Halo 4's Spartan Ops), the Fall of Reach just being a line in the manual (from Halo Anniversary), Cortana being evil (from Halo 5, and most of 343i's books), and the Elites being unintelligent morons that murder civilians up close and personal instead of being Elite pilots, bombers, and captains. Season 3, the Master Chief gains Brute allies, and has to resist sexual advances by big hairy apes.

So I just have to add, I get all the content creators and journalists have been criticizing the decision to just drop the whole show at once instead of doing it as a weekly thing because that keeps the show "relevant" or whatever, but I have to say I personally appreciate it, and really wish the streaming services would stop doing the weekly release thing. As a viewer I kinda hate having to wait for extra episodes of a season, especially if the episode for the week just feels like filler with nothing going on. Also helps to avoid any kind of spoilers from discussion online if I can just sit down and watch the whole thing off rip. Also makes it more consumer friendly, as if this is all you're interested in from Prime Video, you can just sub for a month, watch it, and quit. And yes, I'm aware you can do the same thing after the entire show has released, but then you have to avoid spoilers as much as you can, and with CCs and media heads talking about each episode each week, that gets kinda hard to do sometimes. Yes some channels avoid spoilers for a certain amount of time, but not all, and not indefinitely. So as much as it isn't good for all the background metrics companies love so much, I really hope we go back to the netflix way of "fuck it, here's the whole season" as I think that's way more enjoyable for the viewer. And frankly, as a viewer, I'm more concerned with the viewer experience over that of the company or content creators. I doubt it'll happen because of those metrics, the strategy does unfortunately work, but one can dream.

It depends on the show. The weekly approach works well for the smash hit, X-Men '97, because each episode ends on cliffhanger that keeps viewers speculating and coming back for more. I think Fallout relying on the binge model is fine since it doesn't have as many cliffhangers.
@SakuraShade
@SakuraShade 11 күн бұрын
@@TheVeritas1 I mean that’s entirely up to the show’s producers. With streaming being the modern way to watch TV, you know you have the option to do either style. Yes if you’re going to write the show to be done in a weekly manner that’ll make more sense, but writing it that way is entirely optional. Shows used to be written that way to entice people to tune in next time, but that’s because streaming wasn’t a thing back then. Now the weekly structure is just an arbitrary limitation a service puts on a show in order to drive metrics, and keep the show “relevant” for longer. And naturally to keep people subscribed for longer. Some shows can still be written for the weekly manner, but they no longer have to be, and that’s sort of my point. We don’t have to do this weekly thing anymore, it’s purely for the benefit of the business, and to a lesser extent the content creators, as they can talk about something for longer with that method. Which that’s all well and good, as a viewer I’d simply prefer to watch a season of something in one shot, from start to finish, as a cohesive story. We were doing that with the dawn of streaming, but now we’re going back to the weekly structure because it’s better for businesses, and I simply wish we weren’t.

I think shows that have any sort of an imherent mystery involved benefit from the weekly format.

Then, a friend convinced me to buy and download Fallout 76 - which has become an excellent entry after a very rough start - because they made sure to out the entire franchise on sale to mirror the show's release. This was a brilliant marketing move, and it also had to do with the fact that Bethesda Games had devs and writers from the studio coordinating and cooperating with the show runners. If every studio did this, we would get better results from these cinematic adaptations.

I think a Halo TV show about a group of ODST fighting rebels and then having to team up with the rebels to fight the Covenant, being saved by a Spartan (not John-117) in the final episode, would have made for great TV. During the next season, you could have the Spartan take off HER helmet, and the series could have a badass good girl, with the ODST and rebels teaching her about feelings, and that kind of thing, maybe even hooking up with one of the soldiers and absolutely breaking him off screen ... just hear the grunting, then him screaming like a girl, and the next scene is the medic asking the soldier if he was trying to die by snu-snu, and he spends the rest of the season strapped to a gunnery chair.

Two things about the Fallout show's making are interesting to me. First that Jonothan Nolan really likes and wanted to make a Fallout show, and dug into the material already there that for an extremely minor blink and miss thing in the first scene they used a map Josh Sawyer had made for the prewar USA during the classic Fallout games that was never put into the games. Second, Walton Goggins specifically said he DIDN'T really play the games or look into the material beyond the show much to keep himself as an outside perspective, so while you have people passionate about Fallout, he could be someone not invested in the source material and make sure it all works beyond that stuff. Clearly to me, this stopped there being whatever the fuck that mess Halo was, but also stopped it from being just built on referencing the stuff people already knew like Warcraft and could stand on its own... it just works.

Speaking as someone who's never played Halo, and can't see myself ever playing Halo in the future (I'm not an FPS fan. Hell I'm not even an FPS tolerater! 😁). I didn't mind the TV show. It gave the impression of being a game port but also provided me with a realisation that there's actually some deeper lore that I never knew about. So I've started to pay more attention to the Halo universe as a setting and the books are now on my list for future reading. It hasn't made me want to play the games, I think I'm too far away from the pew pews to ever be brought in that direction. But it's an OK setting for a solid sci-fi show. Is it a show that I waited for with enthusiasm each week? Nope. But it is one that I would choose to watch over rewatching repeats of my favourite classics. So, without neededing to put myself in the shoes of someone new to the franchise, because they're the ones I own, it's a 6-7/10 for me being immersed solely in the internal logic of the show. Comparing it to Fallout however seems a bit mean. As an RPG the whole FO series is geared towards the story. And the characters you play with are regular humans.

IMO, I don’t mind if the Halo show wants to show it’s actors and/or incorporate sex scenes, as long as u don’t break lore it’s fine. Like they COULD’VE made it about Purple team (I just made it up) different Spartans then the ones fans know, they could’ve done anything they wanted with original characters and not piss off the fans as long as as they don’t break lore. If they wanted to “show the human side” of soldiers in this 27year war for survival, they could’ve done a show about ODSTs and have them take off the helmet all the time and have a sex scene every episode, that’d still be preferable to whatever shit we got. It’s astonishing that for a show with such a large production, nobody at any point in the production cycle has asked a fan about their views on it, and after the season 1 backlash, they didn’t fix a single god damn thing for season2.

The gal I'm seeing and I knocked out the Halo MCC earlier this year. It was her first time through the Bungie classics, and she was all in-wishing she'd been a teen during Halo's prime. The finales of Halo 3 and Halo: Reach blew her away just like they did for me back in the day. I had already seen the first season of the Halo series and wasn't too impressed, even though I heard the second season might turn things around. I was hesitant to ruin her Halo vibe with the series, but we gave season one a go. It was tough after the high of the MCC. She kept saying, "that's not my Master Chief," totally not vibing with it. We finished season two last night and, sadly, it didn't live up to its promises. It feels like the series just wants to wear the Halo name rather than bring the game to life. Pretty disappointing-it's basically just another sci-fi show with the Halo tag. She's already hyped to start Fallout, and honestly, I bet she’ll find it way better than the Halo series. Such a shame for Halo.

I know a lot of Halo fans won’t agree here but I think Halo was doomed to fail in the first place *because* of its source material… it’s based on an FPS with cut scenes. From the start Fallout has been an RPG. Story and world building has been far more important to Fallout than it is to Halo. And fallout’s not limited to particular people or units to tell the story in that world. The only thing dumber than trying to make a Halo series was trying to make a Doom movie… about a guy who we never see his face, never see his character, never know his name and don’t even know where the events are taking place.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Halo had so much potential as a show, like many video game based stuff does. My late father was never much for video games, but he did love good science fiction shows like Star Trek or films like Star Wars. He'd have loved the concept of Halo as a show if they stayed loyal to the source material. It seems Paramount and Disney just do not care about the existing fan base which is a bad idea. I get the make it more marketable to a wider audience, sure, makes sense, but not at the cost of the original fan base. I mean Halo is over 20 years old as a franchise. Star Wars is approaching 50 years old. There's a lot to be said about that

Personally i think if Halo had taken a pseudo fan service approach they could have made bank. Imagine a show where it starts by following a squad of soldiers. Each episode one of them dies. At the season finale there are only three left and they are asking for backup. That backup comes in the form of Master Chief who comes in and kicks ass. The soldiers are in awe, the audience is cheering and then Master Chief leaves to go on another mission and the squad gets dissolved into other units. That is a first season that would have had the potential of being great. Instead we got whatever that crap was.

Honestly not so sure about the title’s positivity. A large section of the Fanbase is trickered that some of New Vegas was retconned - hopefully todd’s confirmation that shady sands was destroyed later than 2077 mollifies them but I think they’re the type who just wanna be angry for me personally, i don’t care. I am not a fan of the Fallout show. They stuffed it full of references in a forced way, outright gave away loads of huge plot points that Fallout slowly hints at, and maybe seemed to act as if it was a game rather than a show; that is, the main character doesn't seem to act like a real person, but a game character where nothing is ever really that serious because it is just a game. I am a big Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 fan, and I do not think the show does the franchise any justice. A real shame, but hardly surprising coming from Amazon. Cool that people enjoy the Fallout show, but I've also heard people enjoying the Halo show even though it has been shown to be poorly made.

Every good piece of media, every game series, every book series, every TV show has a soul. Not in a metaphysical sense, but in the sense that every one of them has something about it that gives it its identity. That makes it into what it is. That makes me people care about it. It's hard to explain what this soul is. But we know it when we see it and we know it when it isn't there. The Halo TV show did not capture the Halo games' soul. Even putting aside all of the bad writing. Even putting aside specific changes. The overall point is that Halo has a soul and it was not captured by the show. I haven't seen the Fallout show yet, but from what I'm hearing it DOES capture Fallout's soul (at least the Bethesda Fallouts). And I imagine that makes a huge difference.

Too many other larger channels choose to either play the optimist to an annoying degree, ("see guys it's not all bad, they made chief do more fights!"), or outright approving of it. Yes that is their opinion, but given the size of their channels they should understand, as eckhartsladder always has, that they are defacto a more visible face of the fanbase. Gaining notoriety on the views of halo fans and then broadcasting opinions completely counter to theirs into the noosphere is like standing on our shoulders only to piss on our heads.

After watching the show, I immediately downloaded New Vegas to give it another shot. I need more of that world, and so do all the people buying the games during the sales around release Meanwhile, the Halo show, even if it WAS good, is nothing like the games. It doesnt make you want to play the games because it might as well be a different IP. The fact its bad just compounds that issue

As for the newfound popularity of the Fallout games: the gameplay has always been a little behind the times. If they’re taking their time to perfect Fallout 5, it’ll be huge. Especially in an age with constant microtransactions and SBMM, they’ll bring gaming back to the golden age of just immersing yourself in a world and playing out of enjoyment. Super fitting given the retro vibe/aesthetic of the games.

I absolutely love how they've adapted the Fallout game into a series and kept to the lore and everything without ruining it within reason. If you look at Halo series they've gone in their own direction and made chief take off his helmet which he does do in the legendary ending of Halo 4 but we never truly see his complete face, all the main characters are completely different and donot look or are close to the game versions, and made master chief fight on Reach without wearing his armour which he couldn't of done because he was on the pillar of autumn waiting for cortana to be deliver to him by noble 6. even though i like and love halo myself i refuse to watch the adaptation of the Halo series because simply they are not 100% respecting the timeline and trying to have their own agenda etc. As for the Fallout series i'd say its has done one thing right that Halo doesn't do and that is it sticks to the timeline within reason and also that the main characters you play as, you play the games however you want within reason. FO1 - save vault 13 FO2 - save your village (find the GECK) FO3 - find your dad FO4 - Find your son FO:NV - find the SoB who shot you in the head FO:Series - find and rescue your dad too Obviously the series had to choose something, i wish they came up with something different but it still a good series in my opinion, but at least they've kept to the source material and time line of the fallout universe and the outfits , weapons and features are 100% spot on too!. i can't wait for season 2!.

You know what would've been absolutely GOD tier for Halo (them having Reach the way it is, is terrible) having the show start with Johnson as the main character on Harvest at the beginning of the war. 3-6 episodes in he's saved or joins an offensive involving spartan 2's with chief and that's season 1 just the intro to Halo Wars. 5 long years of a planetary brawl with covenant setback after setback loss after loss. Season 1 ends with Harvest being glassed and them learning their new destination is Reach. Retell the fall of Reach with chief doing shit on the other side of the planet as 6 and split between the 2 perspectives and midway through the season introduce our boy The Arbiter still voiced by Keith David (our lord and savior) season 2 ends with Chief making it to the Autumn (maybe seriously injured) and have it be the ship the 6 shoots down be Arbiter's. Remember that 6 went TOWARDS the ship he shot down. Dude said "ok I know where there is an infinite amount of split lips to kill and a glorious death awaits me" and maybe have it be that his body is delivered to the arbiter. Season 3 starts with Halo 1. Also have Noble 6 be female noble 6 for the girls cause their identity is fully classified that or give them Kelly and Linda.

Amazon was incentivised to keep as close to the lore as possible because of the insane backlash they got from "The rings of power". They saw what happens when you go so out of line. Paramount didn't took that lesson. This is why most moves and series based on games flop , because the show runners want to do their own thing which has nothing to do with the source material. Then it pisses the viewers , because the majority of the viewers are the fans of those games.

The Crazy thing is that Halo is one of the most lore packed franchises in history and so much of it isn’t covered by the games. There are literal millennia of absolutely amazing Halo Lore that could have been tapped. Imagine if the Halo show was literally just the live action version of the Forerunner flood war. Or the Human Forerunner war or in the post halo era, we follow a covenant fleet as they search for artifacts or we get to watch some of the other Human Covenant engagements that aren’t covered by the games… They had so many options and it would have been so easy for them to just follow the source material in order to have interesting content… but no. For some reason no. I think that’s what pains me the most about the Halo show, they didn’t have to get super duper creative and crazy, they had so much to go off of and they blew it.

*Sigh* You just had to go on and stumble right at the finish-line. “Canon doesn’t matter over feelings and theme” Bleh! Okay! Okay…! Then season 3 of the Halo TV show should just be Master Cheeks getting his arm shot off…but then Guilty Spark gives him a mechanical arm. This arm at first works just like a regular arm…but then as the series progresses it becomes more and more powerful: Allowing Master Cheeks to defeat not only an entire army, including ten Scarabs…but also an entire fleet of Covenant ships! What?! It’s not canon so we can do whatever the hell we want! Some people may call my example hyperbolic and ridiculous…but is it really any more ridiculous than the UNSC having a magical spike that allows them to turn A SINGLE Covenant into a bomb capable of destroying an ENTIRE fleet?! This utter absurdity does not exist in the original Halo, and for good f-ing reason: Not only is it incredibly OVERPOWERED! Like, how and when the Frick did you create this?! But also, I am telling you right now: This show’s incompetent writers/show-runners are going to use this pathetic contrivance to destroy Alpha Halo in season 3…rather than having Cheeks blow up the Pillar of Autumn’s fusion reactor. That is how lazy this show is…but I guess that doesn’t matter because it ain’t canon. Silver timeline and all that BS, right! Such a disappointing conclusion to an otherwise great video. Of course canon matters! You can *both* feelings, themes, and canon! The original Halo had both: This show does not!

I try, so hard, so very hard, to watch Halo. It’s just so bad. When i bought the original Xbox in 2001, it came with 3 games, and an extra controller. I chose a button masher fight game, project Gotham racing, and the dude at the store recommended Halo. I spent at least a month playing before i put Halo in. And, man was i missing out. Even on my 27” tv, with a 4-screen split, my kids and i were in heaven! We got 4 controllers, and played a game we called “warthog wars”, in blood gulch, slamming our warthogs into eachother, laughing hysterically. All the Halo show needed to do was COPY THE GAME. Nope, they have to bow to “actors”, who cannot stand having their damned faces covered by helmets! They have to bow to producers, and writers who’ve never played the game, to add “extra” drama to a game, that literally scared the crap out of me when you find that “one” species of aliens. All of the side stories, and side characters are in that show only to give it a longer series life. Yet, ask the producers of Shugun if they wanted to have 10 seasons? No- they did what they wanted to do. And, halo can have multiple seasons- ODST, halo’s different side stories, etc. etc. etc. but, no. The chief cries. Gets in trouble. Has “feelings” was kidnapped as a kid. Falls in “love” with a weird human who lives with the covenant…. Ugh. Fuck.ing. Ugh.

Nice having a show made after Halo and Fallout, but there is a game that has been around a lot longer that should have a live action series, and only got a cheesy cartoon/cgi enhanced version for one season, is Battletech/Mechwarrior. That universe is so expansive, could be like Star Trek and Star Wars, have a few separate shows in itself to cover as much of what goes on throughout the Inner Sphere that ties into it all. My only request to that would be that if such a show was to be made, that it be on something other than a streaming service. Don't need to add another subscription just to watch one show...
