There are two ranger groups in the fallout universe. The Desert rangers who wore the iconic duster and helmet and the NCR rangers who wear the campaign hats and brown armor.

The rangers actually are mostly former Desert Rangers who joined the NCR if they defended the Mojave from the legion, that's why the statue exists at the Mojave Outpost. They originally fought the legion but were quickly becoming overwhelmed.

Yeah the NCR had their own Rangers and the desert rangers were their own faction called Desert Rangers. By agreeing to defend the Mojave and Nevada from the Legion the desert ranger faction agreed to let themselves be absorbed into the NCR on the stipulations that the NCR would protect the Mojave. The desert ranger faction operated kind of like a wasteland policemen and western wandering sheriffs. Their skills were deadly but they were just too few.

One of the most popular cases of these rangers is actually Tycho from Fallout 1, where contradictory to his sprite, is described wearing a cloak and some sort of gas mask. He explains that he’s a ranger from Nevada that traveled to CA, for a reason I cannot remember. He can be found in Fallout 1 in the Skum Pitt located in Junktown. Edit. 500 Vertibirds doesn't seem THAT unreasonable. By this point in Fallout's history, the NCR has existed for nearly a century. It has a population of over 700,000, and military with personnel numbering in the thousands. Safety and stability have lead to living standards not seen since before the Great War, and an economy to match. It has largely picked its territory and the immediate surroundings, clean of any usable, scavengable materials, including military hardware. it has even repurposed hardware taken in scrimmages with larger Raider factions, and even from the Enclave. It's social/political standing has lead it to become, in recent years, hawkish and conquest-happy, seeing itself as the second-coming of the USA, and the "Manifest Destiny" there in. This has lead to a pro-military stance, boosting its military output to prepare for things like the fight with the Legion, an the battles involving Hoover Dam. It wont be until during and after the events of New Vegas, that NCR, having over stretched its resources logistically and economically, that the NCR will start to show an instability that makes having ever increasing amounts of military hardware, a bad idea at best, and a virtual impossibility at worst.
@halcionjoy72 жыл бұрын
I don't see why Zach thinks a post-apocalyptic setting is supposed to stay in the tribal scavenging stage forever. Even in Fallout 1 some semblance of civilization was returning to the world. That's part of why Fallout 3 and 4 seem so odd to me. After hundreds of years people are still living in shacks made of scrap metal, and major settlements are still centered around the places people would go for immediate shelter from nuclear destruction.
@chickenpurple67042 жыл бұрын
Sure, but the NCR didn't get the plans to build the vertibirds. The brotherhood did. The only way they'd know how to produce vertibirds would be through reverse-engineering the ones they captured at Navarro. I doubt they'd be able to produce so many after taking likely a few years after the events of fallout 1 just figuring out how to make them. The NCR is shown to have a decent industrial capacity, as they can make guns and uniforms for all of their soldiers, however due to their industry having that much of a tall order, I doubt they'd be able to make hundreds of vertibirds by the events of New California.
@MetanoiaAm2 жыл бұрын
@@chickenpurple6704 Well Fallout 1 takes place in 2161, Fallout 2 in 2241. The Fallout: New California mod takes place in 2260. So its been 100 years since Fallout 1, and 20 since Fallout 2. The NCR could absolutely have produced dozens, if not hundreds of Vertibirds, even if they had to reverse engineer them from Pre-War models, in that span of time. Keep in mind that this is also at the NCR's peek, before the events of moving into the Mojave would lead to their decline.
@MetanoiaAm2 жыл бұрын
@@halcionjoy7 Might explain why he likes New Vegas so much compared to 3 and 4. I mean it is easy to argue that F:NV has the best story, and the mod scene is the best for any game, ever. Man Mike really does not want to meet the father. It seems every episode its just Hey let's find another reason to drag this out so we don't meet him and find out that thing about the vault dweller and the history of the courier that the head dev constantly claims is a wild wasteland gaff.

Again, it’s been confirmed the courier is not a clone of the vault dweller at all, and the father is literally just a loony.

last i checked, the desert rangers were derived from the Texas Rangers, but then you remember that the legion have a chokehold in texas and...yeah
@Silverfishv92 жыл бұрын
They're inspired by the Arizona Rangers from the wasteland series, nothing to do with Texas
