I know why NV fans love it, it's a lot more complex, but tbh it's not as fun to play as Fallout 4. 4 is a vastly better game if you just like exploring and finding hidden secrets here and there. The map is amazing. Also I love the settlement building, make me feel like I'm shaping the world. At the end of the day, people like what they like and I never get into the "what's better" argument. If NV fans love it, I'm happy for them, they paid less than a hundred bucks or many hours of enjoyment. Fallout 4 has cost me about 2 cents an hour to enjoy it, so I'm happy.

I love Fallout New Vegas, but you can't engage in a discussion with a New Vegas FANBOY. They're broken records. I don't think there's anything wrong with not liking Bethesda games (I personally do like Bethesda games other than Starfield). My problem is how obsessed they are with Bethesda. I like New Vegas because choices matters in this game. Quest NPCs can die, or the player can outright kill them, creating different outcomes. Or the skills the player picked up along the playthrough can create different outcomes as well, different experiences. There are much fewer of the above in Fallout 4, quest NPCs can't die, and if they do they are insignificant, nothing. Better weapon system in New Vegas, also playing into that choices matters. Fallout 4 is just a fun outdoor adventure while looking for your son game, but New Vegas, within the scope of the game, you do as you please.

New Vegas has really good player choice. The hidden options are amazing and many npcs have extremely deep backstory for characters you only encounter once. I remember sitting there being enthralled by a characters dialog for roughly 15 minutes in a quest line that ends with that character self deleting. Fallout 4 has its own things to pull me on 3 as well but New Vegas is honestly home.

I am a New Vegas fan and here's my take; The main issue is that the community consist of two camps: those who prefer action games and those who prefer roleplaying games. Most of the time in Fallout 4 is spent shooting at things and most quests revolves around shooting things - this is why you find more enemies in FO4 - it's designed to be a shooting gallery with similar design like Far Cry or any other openworld action-game. Further you're shoehorned into being a good guy or a sarcastic good guy. Your character build barely has any effects on the outcome of dialogues. Actions barely has any consequences. There is no karma system. Intelligence, medicine, or perks such as gun nut offers nothing new in dialogues. The dialogue choices itself consist of Yes, Sarcastic Yes, Ask Question, or No (sometimes Yes). It's obvious it was streamlined/dumbed down in order to appeal to CoD fans. FO4 is simply an action game with RPG-elements added to it. New Vegas is a roleplaying game with action elements added to it. Fallout 4 is shitty that it didn't even make it to IGN:s ''Top 100 RPG:s. Fallout 4 isn't even mentioned. It's a shitty RPG-game, simple as that. As an open world action game its 8.5. But since Fallout is supposed to be an RPG and FO4 is not i'll give it 3.5/10.

I dont want to legitimize people who are attacking or belittling other fallouts than nv but fallout nv getting compared to fallout 4, which came out 5 year later with better graphics, engine, a bigger budget, had more time to produce and years of experience from the previous open world titles, is proof the game is actually good. That all being said, it is buggy as hell like most old obsidian games and required patches or mods to play consistently stable, for the most part. You also dont play games like fallout nv, kotor2 or alpha protocol for the gameplay as it is the least interesting part of those games. The good parts generally are characters, world building, decisions and impacts of them, grey(kinda) morality etc. The list can go on but I think I made my point.

I made a comment a week ago on a fallout facebook group that was telling New Vegas Elitist to stop being rabid. My comment basically was me voicing my opinion about how bland the game looks, how awful the gun play and combat was, and how empty and unlived-in the wasteland looked and felt. New Vegas genuinely felt like a unfinished fallout 3 mod. By the 3rd day, I had over 100 replies which mainly consisted of Rambling about how I'm somehow a zoomer, insults you'd see on a 2008 youtube comment (filled to the brim with XDDDD's and incoherent rambling on why New Vegas is DA BEST!!1!), being called a new fan because of the show (I've been playing since FO3 on 360), and someone went out of their way to go through my old facebook posts and insult my family/pictures of me. Over a 14 year old video game. I never hated New Vegas. I genuinely think it's the most overrated, mediocre, and bland fallout out of all of them. It's not terrible, but people blow that game out of proportion when discussing it. The fans genuinely irk me so badly that I get physically ill when they begin openly masturbating about the game or rabidly attacking anything that isn't New Vegas.

It was only within the last couple of years that I've gotten New Vegas very stable (crashes are extremely rare), beyond QOL mods (stewie's tweaks has been fantastic) the main one that I use ends up being TTW - as FO3 definitely is lacking in some areas by comparison when it comes to gameplay. It is definitely very empty compared to Fallout 4. But you do have to consider that it was also intended to run on the Xbox 360, and Microsoft really didn't like disparities between the versions on the console and PC that went beyond graphics quality. And NPC were always the first to be culled (Divinity II if I remember correctly is an example) to get games running well on consoles.

Well, I don’t understand your criticism of the “emptiness” as I felt that it felt about the same as Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Fallout 4 maybe not so much, as I felt bombarded by enemies in that game and there was almost no breathing room. I appreciate being able to actually have some time to think, and enjoy the setting instead of being constantly rushed every dying second. Also new Vegas and 3 to an extent was very rewarding if you put a lot of hours into exploring what seems to be empty. But it’s good you acknowledge the story. Bethesda would never dare to attempt a story of that calibre, cause they are literally incapable considering most of the original story boarding staff are gone. Look at Starfield. It’s story is somehow worse than Fallout 4.

3 sells its emptiness better than NV does. Just ruins, everywhere. Upheaval of landmass. Absolute devastation, people clinging to survival in salvaged remnants of a once bustling metropolis. New Vegas is… a desert, with desert towns, clear skies and clean water… and settlements everywhere, that are doing quite well despite the circumstances. There are two schools of thought. One is that civilization should be largely back on its feet and adjusting to the new normal, as seen in New Vegas… And the other, that revels in the total desolation of civilization and really gets into the vibe of the futility of recovering after a nuclear war, living in a slow March toward the extinction of mankind. Maybe Fallout 3 should’ve been set in the year 2107. Maybe its more desolate wasteland would make more sense canonically… but nonetheless, I have always enjoyed the atmosphere of Fallout 3’s world more than NV.

Vegas takes the cake imo because once your out of goodsprings the world is yours. You dont have to become an errand boy on many quests like fo4, many people can be billed or pickpocketed for the info on quests. The ability to create any character the way you want and still be able to pull off some convo checks or skill checks no matter which it is, theres always a use for it that just makes it so satisfying.

IDK, Fallout 3 had a random encounter generator where I got mauled to death by Deathclaws at level 3 outside of the Super Duper Mart. The game started in the center of the world and there weren’t Deathclaws right due north of the starting point like in New Vegas.

I'm currently doing the Brotherhood elder's quests and that's literally all it is. Even one of my favourite quests so far, launching the ghouls into space, still had a lot of fetch elements. I'm enjoying the game but I feel its good points have been massively oversold by fans.

But with settlements in Fallout 4, you get calls on the radio about settlements being under attack frequently, even when you are in the middle of DLCs. I get annoyed by it because the settlements should at some point just handle defending themselves.

The show looked really good, there's no argument about that, once you get past that, the plot "seems" to make sense until you actually start questioning it. Superficially it all seems ok, but when you start asking, why, how, it has a LOT of problems. People hand wave it away with terms like "game logic" but it's a tv show, and many things just simply don't make sense once you dig into them.

my first fallout game is FNV ive played hundreds of hour with mods to make it playable in modern setup. but no matter how much or how many hours i put in FNV ive never feel the obsession to keep replaying like i do in FO4. i remembered when the game first release, spending 10 days in a row exploring the world while the tonedown rpg aspect and simplified main story (its night and day compared to FNV) is a problem i do find it more casual. so the thing is i find myself whenever playing FNV i tend skipping a lot of dialogue, its great tbh but yeah turn out i lean toward more gameplay mechanic and doing settlement simulator. so while FNV is the GOAT i just dont feel like it beacuse of the dated graphic and gameplay clunkiness i just hope that fallout 5 would focus more into RPG aspect like FNV tough.

The notion that it is normal for a well modded Bethesda game to crash "once an hour or so" makes me worry that the rest of your conclusions won't be substantive, and I say this as a person who actually enjoys modding Fallout 4 a bit more than I do New Vegas. It is possible to run dozens of mods in New Vegas and not crash at all for a dozen hours or more. Maybe a deep dive into the most common Bethesda crash(es), what causes it and how it can be mitigated is in order? Generally, I find most players aren't doing an actual 'clean" install (they delete their game files at best but leave my documents / AppData intact) and they don't make any effort to patch their own load orders. Deserts aren't for everyone, obviously, but I didn't find Skyrim to be "more interesting" for the trees. Trees are pretty, certainly, but so are salt flats, saguaro cacti and large skies. The issue, IMO, is that in Fallout 3 and 4, there are random encounter areas that spawn NPCs who tend to wander and often interact with one another. In New Vegas, the vast majority of encounters are locked to their span points and always appear at the same location. Why Obsidian chose to construct their world-space in this way is a mystery to me, though it's not a problem, or "bad" / "wrong." I agree that a lot of New Vegas fans are insufferable, but this is true of many in fandoms of any kind, including Fallout 4 (if I had a nickel for every "fan" who quotes the subjective experience / dialog of a single NPC in a previous game as "canon"...)

The game has a stroke with any machine that has over 2Gb of memory in its vanilla state. I’ve installed a few more mods that attempt to fix the problem since this video was rendered on Friday and it seems to have mostly fixed the issue. To be clear I never had an issue with the setting being a desert, there are plenty of views that do look visually pleasing. I have an issue with how empty the game feels at times, especially when you’re just walking from one point to another with nothing to do inbetween. As you noted, both Skyrim and FO4 had random encounters with roving bands of raiders or creatures. I do think it’s a problem, because it is quite boring to just be holding “W” for 10 minutes at a time The roving gangs would have made the game feel more alive for sure, I also don’t know why the devs decided against that

Life lesson: Stop caring what other people think. You will find your overall stress and frustration levels vastly reduced if you do. While I played FO-FO4, I prefer fantasy RPGs like DA:O, NWN, and BG3 :)

I think part of it is that they feel like they haven't had a game made for THEM in a long time. Nothing like New Vegas has been made other than maybe Baldurs Gate 3, but it's not a sandbox RPG so even that doesn't really count. New Vegas was a rushed game, and yet still turned out so well. I think the bigger disappointment to not just New Vegas fans, but Fallout fans in general, was that Fallour 76 could have been the New Vegas to Fallout 4, but was instead a cash grab game they made purely because of business trends in gaming. Bethesda keeps making games no one asked for.

The residents of 33 might have picked up on this, as they were eventually discovered, we don’t know exactly what happened because our view point stays with Lucy, but that could have been what transpired. 2. She turned her Pip-Boy off, you see her turn it back on and then switch to the Geiger counter. 3. Moldaver’s company was bought by Vault-Tech, hence why she was likely in the Cryo vault with the other execs. Hank had also been out of cryo long enough to have a family with two kids in their 20s. It’s likely that he recognized the name, but maybe not EXACTLY who she was until she kicks her plan off. Again we don’t know exactly what went down other than what we’ve seen on screen, this might be expanded upon in S2, we’ll see. 3. We’ve all been super radded up in game yet survived 4. It is never said that Vault-Tech did drop the bombs, they suggest doing so at the meeting, but that’s all we hear of it. Keep in mind that meeting must take place at least a year or two before we see the bombs fall, as Cooper has gone through a divorce (which I’m sure is still a slow process in the future). So since Cooper’s daughter is with him, it’s a pretty good bet that Vault-Tech didn’t drop the bombs themselves. 4. Super sheltered vault dwellers don’t know how to respond to violence

I dont think that the map should be excused. Because they could of just used another map. Or at least make something that would of drastically changed the mojave desert into something else. The Gameplay and mechanics shouldnt be affected by the story or setting. Unless its to enhance gameplay, But Story and setting should be effected by gameplay. I feel like the mojave desert theme is just an excuse to put almost nothing in the "Open world" game. I really dont like Fallout new vegas, Ive tried to like it for so many years because its "the best fallout game", but i much prefer fallout 4's open world (despite the story in 4 being really really boring). The only thing that fallout new vegas has going for it imo is the story.

Just watching these screens of NV and I really hate the look of NV. Everything's brown and bland, and the interiors have black gunk on every wall, I hate the look of the game. Whenever I mention how shit the graphics look, NV fans answer "well it's an old game, they were great at the time". Really?!? I mean REALLY?!? Skyrim came out only a year later, and Fallout 4 was 3 years after that. The graphics in the Creation Engine are light years ahead of New Vegas. That argument just doesn't hold water.

Here are my two reasons why new vegas is superior to FO3. 1. The sewers in 3 are horrible. I’m sure once you memorize the layout it’s easy to find your way around. Overall nightmare to navigate. 2. The enemy scaling. Same as oblivion it sucks to have enemies become damage sponges the longer you play the game. I just enjoy fallout and I like all of the ones I’ve played. It’s just those 2 things that make new vegas a more enjoyable experience for me personally

I loved the show. Yet, the Vegas people have a point. All the events of fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas, have been rendered moot/inconsequential. All of the games that are untouched by Todd. Sure, those games are cannon, in that, everything that happened in them has been wiped clean. No, vegas is NOT still intact, with destroyed buildings, destroyed gates and walls, and destroyed military hardware directly in the streets. Enclave, alive and well. NCR according to Maximus, didn't work out. Shady sands, no longer exists. So, the main elements and results of those games, are gone.

We don’t know the exact state of New Vegas, we get a far away shot and then a few end credit pieces of art. From what I’ve seen in FNV, the NCR is barely hanging on to the territory it’s claimed and is already riffed with corruption. So it wasn’t exactly in the best state by the events of New Vegas.

the reason is because the fallout show is cannon and ruins the lore that had already been well established ,with the destruction of shady sands in 2277 while the the first battle of hover dam happens in the same year which make doesn't sense .the enclave existing after the events of fallout 2 and Navarro and their oil rig being destroyed implying that the enclave had been destroyed it's last few survivors were integrated or killed by ncr in the state of California specifically .sea lord I hope this helps

As I point out in the video, Shady Sands isn’t nuked in 2277. It says that shady sands “falls” and then the next event on the timeline is the nuking. If we go by the age of Maximus and the date of the show, Shady Sands gets nuked roughly 3 years AFTER New Vegas. As far as the Enclave’s existence, I believe it’s been hinted at in previous games that they might not have been totally destroyed

Todd has already stated that the nuking happens after FNV, the Enclave are repeatedly stated throughout FNV with ED-E and we even see in FNV other mainland Enclave bunkers like the one near Jacobstown it is not that hard to believe that if the NCR had fractured that the Enclave would take advantage of that. Especially from an outpost they supposedly have in Chicago that is able to produce eyebots and hellfire armor

it is probably not fair comparing new vegas with fallout 4 . try to compare it with fallout 3- personally i dislike fallout 4 because of burrowing molerats , rad scorpions and it feels leess than an rpg than a shooter with limited rpg mechanics . also you cant craft weapons and ammo like in fallout new vegas

New Vegas is the best off fallouts by far (with all the bugs and crashes it has), I will die on that hill, I really love 3, I love 4, I adore the classics. I got into fallout via fallout 3, and it still has a place in my hearth, but I love New Vegas the most. Also you should go through Quarry Junction to New Vegas early, there are no deathclaws there, its just Bennys propaganda to keep you from getting to him.

@@PauseUn-Pause well it shouldn't, society had 200 years to rebuild, it shouldn't all be rouble after that long, even in 2 you saw society putting things back together, 3 initialy should have been set closer to the bombs, and it was switched last minute so no time for redesign. New Vegas is how things would realisticaly go back together after 205 years

Not saying that either are worse than the other. MY POINT is that i adore both games. I hate the new vegas gatekeeping and really hate it at a time where soo many new people are getting into fallout and are impressionable into believing that "Fallout 3 ass, New Vegas better than everything else". Just my two caps on the matter. Hope everyone enjoys the good times!

I'm watching loads of New Vegas sucks/is the best game ever videos recently, because I'm trying to understand the hype. For context I loved 3 when it came out, I skipped NV because it kept crashing every 5 seconds, 4 I had issues with but in hindsight it kept me engaged for many hours. I'm playing New Vegas for the first time and I'm finding it a bit bland. The main points of praise I hear for NV (other than QoL improvements) are the RP element (which you also had in 3) and the factions which feel puddle deep. Since it's a hill you're willing to die on, do you think you could articulate what makes it your favourite game?

Creation engine is utter garbage (except modability) by now. And Creation was used first in Fallout 4 lol Starfield and the massive amount of loading screens and mediocre graphics is the perfect example. If Bethesda isn't making a new engine or licensing one, it will be a terrible time for their next game. ID Tech would be an option as well, if they can make open worlds work with it.

To be fair every Game Bethesda has made AFTER Skyrim has been pretty BAD, at least if your an RPG FAN. Their games have turned into Shooting Galleries with RPG elements and Settlement Building systems TACKED ON. FALLOUT as a series WAS and I quote the OG Devs "I want to explore the Ethics of a post nuclear world, not make a Better Plasma Gun", Meanwhile at Bethesda "Make a Better plasma Gun." ALSO worth noting BETHESDA gave Obsidian Entertainment 18 MONTHS to put New Vegas Together and promised them a BONUS if they could get a 85 on Metacrtic or something, and they came up ONE POINT SHORT, so no bonuses for them. (probably due to the bugs at launch) The Things people LOVE about New Vegas are: The World Building, the Story, and the RPG Elements. Not to mention the Addition of Ammo crafting and the "survival" Skill which would let you do all sorts of neat things at Campfires. It really LEANED into the "apocalyptic" setting of Fallout. New Vegas was also the first game to introduce "Survival mode" and its actually pretty fun and not as OVERBEARING as Fallout 4s is (much as i love it). It was also the Last game in the series to include TRAITS in your Character creation, which are similar to perks but they have Positives AND Negative aspects. Perks in New Vegas also actually MEAN SOMETHING, Unlike in Fallout 4 and 76 where they are your only means of Progression. The "Skills" system used to cover ALOT of the boring stuff, now its GONE and we have perks that do "plus 20% damage with X weapon type", and maybe do something UNIQUE at Level 4. Admittedly the Skills system had its own issues (particularly in New Vegas) where you have the INFAMOUS "Charisma 1, Speech Skill 100" Character build. Fallout 4s ONLY improvement over New Vegas (and by extension Fallout 3) is the Combat. New Vegas due to being slapped together in 18 months is just Fallout 3 Reskined and more refined. Thats why the Combat feels so bad, cus no one ever accused Fallout 3 of having good combat. (Fallout 3 didn't even have ADS, you just ZOOMED IN unless it was a sniper rifle) Fallout 4 Looks pretty, and is Fun to play, But ill be dammed if anyone ever calls it a "good RPG", cus its NOT.

personally I prefer the combat in Fnv , less bullet sponge enemies for the most part and you can go down fast yourself , Fo4 Ive taken to running survival and modded guns , then trying to account for the mess that is FO4 survival with more mods , I play on Xbox1 FnV runs smooth and rarely crashes ..... Fo4 on the other hand .. not so much .. yeah no auto save is awesome !

I think it's mostly nostalgia, tbh. New Vegas captured more hours from me when I was a high school boy. Now as a grown woman, I do keep coming back every couple of years. 3 was insanely buggy, 4 was underwhelming and 76 was just... less I say the better my blood pressure (I heard it's better now)

Everything about modern Fallout erases the charm of a POST APOCALYPTIC world by making everything vibrant. The aesthetics making no fcking sense. And the gunplay is irrelevant because you can just play Halo, COD, Battlefield, or Battlefront. The only reason for Fallout's existence is the lore and aesthetics. Bethesda has already thrown out the most important component of this franchise in F4 and that makes it absolute garbage. Fallout 4 didn't provide any good lore, or characters, or ideologies. It's literally a heaping pile of 🐕 💩. I can literally write better lore with my left nut after 3 bottles of Jack Daniels and 16 oz of weed.

New Vegas' map and ambience is dogshit. I grew up on old-school RPGs and I still couldn't take NV. It's hideous, stiff, and is nothing but walking from A to B with next to no scavenging/exploring in between. F3 was great, F4 was fine, F76 is enjoyable, FNV is a great alternative to sleeping pills.

I just started the video but I must do a little correction. 98% of fallout fans are AMAZED by the series. And between those 2% I would say that 1% are the really annoying and louder . The Fallout community HATES those kind of behavior towards other people, specially the newcomers. To me, Sea Lord had a bad experience with some people and it's painting the whole "fallout new vegas fans are insufferable". But again: the vast majority of fallout fans LOVED the series and when people ask then "what game should I play?" They'll give a list of reasons to play each game

The show's pretty to look at, but once you actually break it down, the writing is pretty bad, so many things literally don't make any logical sense. But you're so bombarded with detail it's concealed at a high-level watch. As soon as you start asking how, why, etc it breaks apart. I've watched it all twice, and tbh I can't say I'm particularly emotionally invest in any of the characters. If Maximus was shot and killed in Season 2, episode 1, I think I'd probably shrug and say, "oh well", couldn't care less what happens to him.
