The first (and biggest) red flag for me was when they were saying something about bow other players would be the "NPCs". They were genuinely describing it like they wanted players to treat it like a roleplaying server and play roles. And I'm just sitting there thinking how naive/out of touch someone had to be to think people would do that by default in a looter-shooter. Especially one where PVP is always on. A lot of their desicions/responses in general are naive/out of touch in terms of how people play. Like with how they treated the bannings. Or how PVP is (was?) handled.
@WisteriaDrake6 ай бұрын
Here's a quick fun fact: if a game is being hyped with purely technical info, such as how detailed the graphics are, or how big the map is, it's not a good game. Good games hype you up with story elements, fun mechanics, and beautiful music. The second Todd said "16x the detail", I knew we were in for a shitstorm. But no one could have predicted the extent. I remember Jim Sterling kept delaying their video because 76's addition to controversy never ended.

I knew after I just didn't give a shit about Skyrim anymore that Bethesda was creatively bankrupt. Then I bought Fallout 4, because I was always more invested in Fallout than The Elder Scrolls (I have more time played in New Vegas than Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 combined). Seeing how uninspired and repetitive FO4 was killed any further interest I had in Bethesda titles. I watched 76 come and go in its waves of controversy with mostly mild disinterest and a few sardonic chuckles. Then came Starfield. I thought, "Who knows, maybe Bethesda learned something from 76 and they'll actually try to get this one right. Literally everyone has seen them at their worst." Then I finally watched the trailer. I saw no less than five animations that have existed since at least Oblivion. And I knew exactly where Starfield was going. Speaking of, it's only been out for about 6.5 months. And I don't think anyone is still talking about it. With any luck, Microsoft will see Bethesda for the stone around their neck that it's going to be, and they'll stake it through the heart and sell its IPs to more capable studios who aren't shackled to a game engine that's older than most of its players.

Bethesda is a roaming trashfire, and it always has been since the start of the company. This is their constant state of existence, and somehow, in some way, Todd _always_ convinces the masses that this is the time it won't be the case. And then it's the case. Again. The Bethesda fans will point to, like, Morrowind, but that's still a wildfire-meets-local-dump. It just omits noxious fumes that has the effect of huffing paint so we pretend the gross parts are OK since we're high as shit. It'll happen again, too. The carry weight exploit made the game playable. With all the junk you need to carry weighing you down, limited storage that didnt take your weight lowering perks into consideration, and selling rates of these materials being negligible, eventually you were going to be overencumbered with no way to lower it aside from just trashing stuff. Their excuse for combatting the exploit was that the inlimited carry weight was bogging down the server load. Keep in mind, in the inventory, all these items are are probably just strings of text code, and a number indicating the amount of the item. Logic says that having 1 million of something wont be any more of a load than having 10 of them, unless you were to drop all of them on the ground. This is why you can have an inventory full of furniture on the building mode of genshin, but have limited load space when actuallly placing the items in the game. Big surprise that when the paid 1'st service was released, it gave paying players unlimited storage. What happened to the overwelmed load?

It came out after the video was released but one set of the Power Armor Edition (produced by GameStop) was recalled due to mold concerns in the helmet. 26:44

The No man sky video from internet historien is one of my faves and I recommend seeing that one, Boss.

A hilarious but horrible fumble was one particular Collector’s Edition helmet was recalled. Why? Because this one model was discovered to be growing MOLD. Also they have/had a subscription service. Fallout First for $100 a year. And pretty much everything in it had some sort of problem or massive issue like the scrap box that promised unlimited storage to just eat your scrap.

A few months back a buddy of mine had me play Fallout 76 with him, and that first day i found a bugged Deathclaw that came put of the ground and was frozen in place, which just let me punch it to death

Dude you’re not alone. I always break out into a giggle fit when I think about all the people who waited for a PvE mode in overwatch 2 XD

I remember setting up a black titanium farm near death claw island had to rebuild my base from scratch 10 times before they add the scrap previous base for materials.

They also had a bit of an issue with the Gamestop's Collector Edition helmet having toxic mold in it.

My favorite was the account bound storage chest that deleted the items you put in it. Lmfao comedy gold!

I remember watching the fallout drama play out, and then seeing this video came out, honestly one of my favorite times to be one of my internet, but one of my least favorite times as a gamer, just seeing a game like fallout crash like this. Deffidently made me become a lot more skeptical, since it effected me on I guess more "emotional" level. Glad I never spent any money on all of this junk "Never forget the canvas bag"

So HYPED you watched it! One of my favourite vids of all time!!!!

Just a heads up for you nux, internet historians ads pretty much have their own concurrent lore to them this one was like his most boring one, if you actually enjoyed this one then we promise you that youll like all the others lol

Can’t wait for more Internet Historian reactions. His series on Fancy stuff is amazing. And you already have watched one of the videos. Why not the rest. By the way, he has two other channels, Incognito Mode, and Story mode (not sure about this one’s name). But incognito mode is just as good as his main channel imo.

I'm not sure what to think of him since the Man in Cave plagiarism thing. I just wish he had at least explained himself after it was revealed. All his videos are great, but this lack of transparency leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I pre-ordered Fallout 76... not due to the hype but because I knew the clusterf**k Merve nuke fired at point blank at point blank range 😂 Gouls T-Posing ascending to the relm of the gods while eating some other players arse as I watch in real time through the scope of a sniper rifle.

Hey nux, if enjoying people being disappointed and suffering is something that bothers you try Shaudenfreude. Enjoying bad things happening to bad people is morally clean and no less delicious. Also, you HAVE to react to the "It Just Works" song. It's gold.

Since he mentioned it, the Internet Historian video for No Man's Sky would be a nice flip side to this one. Also yes IH has pretty good ad reads.

Y'know the worst part? I pre-ordered this dumpsterfire on console and it all ran fine for me. It's just a boring fucking game, besides the usual Bethesda "standard of quality"

I was there in the glitch ridden foxholes. T posing scorched, Scorched Beasts flying backwards, Grifton monsters that phased through walls. My money stolen by Bethesda Raiders, boredom till the point of GOULafacation. Good times… and yet people forgot and still bought Bethesda’s Borefield I started playing again last week. It’s actually kinda fun now.
