When it was first released, the micro transactions were mostly non existent. It was just a simple fun little fallout game on your phone. However, it got more content and became much more monetized after it super blew up upon release. For what its worth, I never spent a penny and wasted my fair share of time with it.

Lunchboxes were available from the start, though, and this quickly became the #2 grossing game (bumping Candy Crush Saga for a brief time) and a huge revenue generator. It paved the way (for better or worse) for TES: Blades. You might credit the lack of any outside advertisement (since the game itself was a living ad for FO4), or the nostalgic use of iconography and lore items...but really, it just proves that loot crates are an efficient way to print money.

@@dangevin Fair points, that's why I said mostly non existent. The lunch boxes at the time were nothing but short cuts, and not great ones at that since it was mostly just food and power ect. They didn't start smashing out unique drops and changing the layout of the game to be much more lunch centric until after the release and the amazing amount of downloads it generated.

iirc upgrading the vault door doesn't "protect" you from anything, it just makes it take longer for whoever it is to break in, giving you more time to prepare your defense.

I just never upgrade mine cause my top floor is where my guards at they have to literally fight as soon as they get in then go into a bar where I have more power armored units and a game room where my strong dwellers would hang out next would be the radio room but I end up maxing them too with good weapons and several empty bedrooms down further if they get any further is the power, food and water room along with the lab and science room the bottom floors are storage and middle floor are my office and crafting rooms

you get quantum by the crate full once you build the overseer's office and start completing quest. the radio studio is garbage, you can mass breed your population faster than the radio room can summon new dwellers. summoned dwellers are trash but bred dwellers will inherit their parents special.

I consider myself a Fallout Shelter veteran, as I had vault with 200 dwellers, everyone had legendary weapons and outfits, and Mr Handys on every floor. But one sad day I lost my savefiles due to SSD failure. Now I have another 200-dweller vault, and I'm working on rebuilding everything I had in my previous one. Oh, this video will be so interesting for me :)

I played this on my phone a decent amount when it first came out. It was fun! I didn't FEEL like I needed to spend money on it. I revisited it last summer during a trip with some long flights and I was surprised at how many new features and minigames they'd added. I was also bummed at how much more aggressive the wait timers had become and how those new minigames were added just to get you to spend more money. Needless to say, I didn't play it. I just ended up replaying Little Inferno on my iPad and had a wonderful time.

Fall Out Shelter : About every 6 months they reset the servers and you loose your vaults , being forced to restart vaults from the beginning. This will Trigger some people to BUY loot boxes to get back what they lost. PS: Corpses time out. They either have Caps , weapon or armor. Returning Never encounters anything and returns in 1/2 the time. You just click the Next Room and the Dwellers will advance to it. Being SPECIAL STR: extra Dmg. in melee PER: Increased Critical generation END: Total Hit Points [level affects this too] CHR: better Radio/loving INT: Some quests require min stats This affects Med & Sci AGL: Attack faster Luck: Better chance for Critical/Hitting

I've spent months on this game when it came out and still have it on my phone, but as Jon alludes to, it gets very samey, very grindy, very quickly. The survival mode is down right slam-the-phone-on-the-floor rage inducing at times, the UI is hit and miss when detecting taps when you drag people around and as many have said, requires the user to have a degree of perception to pick up on features & how the game works. Its a decent mobile game, but why they released it on non-mobile devices is simply down to being a money grab. But its been successful and to be honest, if it funds a decent Fallout 5, I don't care! Its a decent mobile game, but it should have stayed there.

I would much rather build a cool vault, go on all the quests to experience the story content the game has to offer, then move on and play one of the eleventy bajillion other games out there. There are only, what, 5 different kinds of disasters? The game is meant to give you something to do for 10 minutes while you wait for a bus. It's not exactly a captivating experience.

Blue character from Lootboxes are randomly generated dweller with higher stats. Then there's legendary dweller that you can get from lootboxes or more commonly from quest, those are mostly fallout 3 character like Eulogy Jones, Colonel autumns or Amata. Also the percentage of risk when rushing is equal to the amount of cap you'll get if you succeed. Btw you just missed the mysterious stranger who spawn randomly in the vault, clicking on it will give you ton of caps.

I was very happy when you played subnautica & So I'll give you tips on how to make your gameplay better It'll be spoiler free, since it'll be based of what you currently discovered So you can actually put more solar panels to increase the power capacity, also whenever you discover a wreck try to search the area both inside& outside VERY thoroughly Also you're missing a VERY important building piece which you'll discover later on, next up that bioreactor will be handy as you can put ANYTHING organic to create power because solar panels require sunlight Remember, that in the last video, you thought about turning that huge wreck into titanium but you couldn't; Usually in that spot you can find some useful tech like beacons (Used to mark locations)& gravity trap (used usually for fishing) That scanner room will be REALLY useful as you can use it to scan for things& remember that it can REALLY sap your base's power if left running (when you search, it will show the items as red/orange on the holographic map) Also, Scan EVERYTHING even the trashbin has some use (although it doesn't affect gameplay to a significant degree), but nevertheless scan EVERYTHING And that laser cutter tool will be handy to cut open doors (not all doors though) & I think you can get a Rebreather from the fabricator

If theres an enemy corpse lying around, click it for goodies, if a container is glowing, click it for goodies, seen you miss loads already Also, raids always happen left to right top to bottom, so give people in the first few rooms the best weapons and they kill the attackers faster

Having played far past the endgame of maxing out and since been lunchbox hoarding into the 1000s, it's such a surreal experience seeing what the early game looks like. Like a deja vu of a much better time when I didn't waste my nights away trying to complete objectives that reset at midnight, or staring at the idle vault willing for a wasteland quest to pop up after 40 minutes.

For this kind of game, the delays and free goodies are incredibly good by comparison. I spent about half an hour before work and poked while I was making dinner and found I made excellent progress and I never spent a dime. Ended up with the entire vault built up with top of the line rooms. It was something to do. to pass time.

Just be warned. once you get 70 vault dwellers that triggers Deathclaw attacks. Train your dwellers and give them all at least blue quality weapons before you go past that. especially on survival.

Even though it's a few years late, I think this one deserves more than a one-off. It may not have a terribly impressive variety of content to offer, but it does take a decent amount of time to get to the most interesting gameplay. I would be happy seeing a series, but it may be best to do episodes infrequently around regular content.

When this game first came out it really wasn't bad with the microtransactions. There were lunchboxes, but they were easy enough to get without paying for them. Then they added quests that you needed Nuka Cola Quantum for, and pets, and crafting and who knows what else now.

There are two types of dwellers from Lunchboxes; Some are from the games, they tend to be Legendary, some are from a pool of npcs created for Fallout Shelter that have slightly better starting stats and equipment than randoms out of the wasteland.

If you send a settler with good Endurance out in to the world make sure to give them good armour for Agility, you have more chances of VATS and more accuracy when firing a weapon.
