Having recently played Fallout 3, I did admittedly find it bizzarely hilarious that the body of Tara, one of Mr Crowley's mercs, can be found perfectly intact despite her having been dead for *20 years,* when she would be practically a skeleton by this point.

I think about this one a lot, like how all the tires should have decomposed. The world in general is not as deteriorated as it would be.

I had to look it up because i honestly thought that rubber took a good bit longer, but i suppose at its base its mostly natural materials. 50-80 years in a landfill, of course with different conditions im sure some would be around but definitely the ones outside would be crumbling to dust. Thinking about it more ive seen old cars in fields that are basically just piles of rust with no tires in sight. Also potentially decomposers not surviving radiation as well surely would interfere with some things

I have no clue why I didnt find this awesome channel sooner! You are asking questions I havent tough of before ^^ I still love the lack of Decomposition purely for Variety and not to be only surrounded by skeletons :)

Fallout 3 wanted a game set 20 years after the war but also wanted the brotherhood and supermutants That choice ruined any chance lore had to develop

In 76's case it's basically to differentiate all of the bodies so that you know what "era" they died in. For example all of the skeletons are Pre-War or just slightly Post-War, while all of the decayed bodies are just before & after the Scorched Plague. There's also the fresh bodies which are supposed to be Post-Wastelanders update.

what about weapons? most of the metal components would be degraded by rust. not to mention that many weapons in fallout still use wooden furniture, and only energy guns have polymer based components (for the most part). even with routine maintenace, the mechanisms of guns would be fucked over +200 years, requiring extensive metal work to run again.

It would also depend on storage conditions, and whether they were used and maintained.

And that's how you make a theory video. Clear distinction between facts, lore and theory. Dissertation style chapters. Pointing out what the creators' intention probably was - which almost none of youtubers do, yet is so obviously important.

You make a good point. In some cases, I can see body preservation making sense in say, very cold environments or the like

One thing that is annoying is that you can’t loot clothes off skeletons, if they were falling apart that would make more sense but they look perfectly fine, you can loot skeletons in Skyrim, granted a lot of them are enemies but still you can, fallout 4 should’ve had that, along with more diverse weapons.

You can loot Vera’s dress off of her skeleton.

It was my understanding that radiation in the Fallout universe was like real like radiation, but all the mutation was caused by a variation of FEV.

Not ghoul mutation.
@NicholasLaRosa0496
@NicholasLaRosa0496 Ай бұрын
@@Halo_Legend That's what they say, but I still think a little bit of FEV was involved. There are plenty of people that die of radiation without becoming ghouls.
@elvis5008
@elvis5008 Ай бұрын
This is based on old lore from Fallout 1 & 2, and the Fallout Bibble. This was also back when the Devs couldn't decide on whether Ghouls were mutated from FEV or not.
@NicholasLaRosa0496
@NicholasLaRosa0496 Ай бұрын
@@elvis5008 I think ghoul mutation should remain ambiguous like who started the Great Wars.
@elvis5008
@elvis5008 Ай бұрын
@@NicholasLaRosa0496 It's not really all that ambiguous anymore. All signs point to Radiation being the cause of Ghoulism, and whatever "X" gene said person may or may not have.

I could create some in game explanations surrounding either the FEV or partial goulification. That being said we don't know what the bombs did to the ecosystem or of the normal decomposition would be altered because of missing animals or vegetation. I personally prefer the second more pseudoscience explanation as it doesn't create unintentional setting narratives and make plot holes about FEV and gouls.

The lack of the corpses decaying is likely just an artistic decision to provide context to what the dead characters looked like or to show off their character kit technology.

The food is from the shit tons of preservatives Pre war fallout 4 the character can even mention "expires... never" about some food item.
@Chris_Sizemore
@Chris_Sizemore Ай бұрын
Or it is because the food that is still around 200 years later was treated with radiation to kill any bacteria that would cause the food to spoil. As long as the packaging remains intact bacteria can't get to the contents.

FINALLY someone made a video on this, I'm new to the series and just watching videos of playthroughs in different games. The varying states of decay on bodies found vs the time elapsed is just all over the place. Like I'm not going to bust their balls but for a series about the post-apocalypse... I expect at least _a ballpark level of realism_ for what state bodies should be in? The process of human decay is well-documented, and even adding in the factor of the rads the games should still follow some line of logic with corpses, and it still doesn't really all the time? Despite that, I still really like the series so far and I'm going to start playing FO3 soon ( :
