I believe this is Because tod knows dogmeat isn’t the dogs name but a generic name used in the wasteland they call dogs dogmeat because of the meat, so I don’t think dogmeat actually has a name but It could be river, the dog actor that played and model dogmeat for the game FO4 that passed away, and I guess the dogs name in the show is actually x04 or something I can’t remember the code given to it in the show.

River's looks, markings, patience, and gentle nature were all replicated in the game model. River's joy in making people happy and her tendency to stop and check in on people during long walks were also captured in the character. River was former developer Joel Brugess dog. He would bring her to the office for those working on dogmeat in game, to bond and learn from to help better understand the character they were creating. It takes dogmeat to a whole new level for me when I play. It's never just some dog to me.

The advantage I think a pip boy has to power armour is that it’s not so valuable that it paints its target on your back. It’s very useful, still. It has VATS, accurate maps, it can give you a rundown of your health (basically a doctor). And all this whilst being light weight, easily transportable, and never needing to be charged or so rarely that it doesn’t matter. Whereas with power armour you not only need to maintain the metal, you also need to replace the super expensive fusion core quite often
