I think that’s a great idea. Have a transfer in Buzzards Bay to full MBTA trains ... and let the Buds continue to Hyannis. A Budds cars would also fit under the bridge in Woods Hole and could make stops at the lots in Falmouth- just saying

My son is special needs and he is all for preserving railroad lines and using Budd RDC'S on them because he thinks both RDC'S and rail transportation is highly underrated! He hopes and prays 🙏 that everything turns out alright with the Falmouth line.

On the opposite coast here so I dont have a dog in the hunt, but I think its crazy to tear out tracks that are currently active or even have potential to be active. Obviously, there are many miles of rail lines in this country that will never be used again, although I hate to see any rail taken out, its easier to understand when there is no chance of rail traffic ever returning. Just seems to me this route needs to be saved.
@jerrys92269 ай бұрын
I agree. It’s got to be the most brazen assault to date by the rails to trails group in the country. Who ever heard of such a thing? They’re now targeting active track. Btw, I spend time on both coasts and have been following the Santa Cruz rail line that has been under attack.
@davidmihevc39909 ай бұрын
@jerrys9226 Yes, I have read about that also. Too many NIMBY's. Much of the former Northwestern Pacific would be a good candidate for a trail , because let's face it, there is never going to be enough traffic to justify the cost of rebuilding it. It would be nice to see some kind of tourist train on the northern end however. Not sure if that will ever happen. In a similar situation, here in Oregon, it looks like a good portion of the former SP Tillimook branch could possibly be a trail someday.

Very Surprised That some people doesn't realize that Good railway Transportation brings Company for Jobs. Which pays bikers to buy their bikes ,water and food to ride the Bikes...So They both should share the railway right of ways Thank you South coast for. Showcasing this Wonderful Concepts 😊😊❤❤❤❤

Great idea for use of a Budd RDC rode on them twice with VIA Rail once on the Sudbury to White River line on the CP main line it ran beautifully on the CP main line,did the Malahat from Victoria to Courtney and back which the track was in very poor but the Budd dealt well with the adverse conditions
@jerrys92269 ай бұрын
The Bourne bikeways people should take the 20 million while available and build a bikeway alongside the tracks for as far as it goes, but I’m sure they’re so full of themselves and brazen they’ll never agree to that. I’m sure the fight is going to get amped up as the deadline approaches. Great idea about using Budd cars. We ( Friends of the Falmouth railway) pitched that idea 25 or so years ago when the tracks into Falmouth were still intact. At the time there was supposed to be a wye track built at canal junction which would have enabled trains to run from Falmouth or Hyannis without lowering the bridge. Even though the money was appropriated for it the project was inexplicably and quietly squashed,along with everything else, I suspect from the anti-rail forces in the Cape Cod commission and the Falmouth bikeways committee. Great update though! I always look forward to any news that’s going on.

We had a couple of Budds from Trinity railway express run on what was our new light rail between Denton and Carrollton Texas They were 50s vintage and very comfortable They were replaced with European units the road walk terribly Bring back the buds

I am all for this idea. Concerning the campaign the key to its success is to keep it in the public eye, keep sharing it, keep making people aware of it and above all else keep telling them to fight for this mode of transportation because a country this big would collapse without rail transportation

As a railroader for 50 years, it would be great to see these diesel hydraulic stainless steel cars back in service. I remember the New Haven RDC cars.

I love the idea! Last I was aware, the CCCR had their own Budd car in Hyannis that hasn't been used for while. I feel it would be better to restore that as it would probably cost less than buying and shipping a new one from Canada. If popularity grows, then buying the second one could be a good idea.

Oh how Sad ..Why can't they take that 20 million to make a bike path along side the tracks...Wonderful video as usual...Many GODS prayers. On that Budd car how cool.....So wonderful that the other comments below say the samething......Why doesn't the bike group recognize the beautiful fun opportunities of SHAREING THE RIGHT OF WAY THICK OF THE KIDS RIDING THEIR BIKES NEAR THE TRAIN BEING INSPIRATION OF THEIR CAREERS LATER IN THEIR ADULTS YEARS😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ SOUTH COAST VIDEOS INSPIRES IDEAS THANK YOU 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

Very interesting story about train service. Please leave railroad tracks alone.😢

You can't just dump such established Right of Way, especially with its National Defense connection and dedicated operational mission which is in place. When compared to a rail trail (calling it that is just wrong, call it a running path) there is no comparison. We had hit peak rail/running trails already. I guess if you need to run go around the block or use the local high school track. No need for people to fight over this or take sides. The rail is needed and should remain, increased if possible.

It would be beyond stupid to make a trail out of this vitally and desperately-needed rail line! It's a shame the entire line to Provincetown was taken out in the first place!

Wasn't Penn Central responsible for the removal between West Yarmouth and Provincetown back in the 70s?

@@joshbenton4080 I think it was actually the NYNH&H that took out the West Yarmouth and Provincetown all the way back in 1960.

Still cant believe they tore up the tracks to the Falmouth station. That was so short sighted and ridiculous
@cawalshx29 ай бұрын
When it comes time to defend this country let them transport the military on there bikes. The tracks are the main line to move the military. Budd cars are a great answer to get cars off the road. Then theres more room to ride bikes whare they belong. On the road not the rail.

Look I'm 100 % for rail service to the cape. I have one simple question. Why in the world would Mass Coastal invest in a Budd Car,Staff it and run service which not only doesn't connect to the ferries at Woods Hole but could not even produce enough ridership to even break even....This is truly a silly idea.
@SouthCoastRailVideos9 ай бұрын
This type of thinking is definitely a step in the right direction but if this were to ever happen it would likely operate a lot differently than initially proposed. The idea behind it would be to run it between the two bike paths (as I said in the video) to connect both without removing the rail. Also no where does it say Mass Coastal would purchase the car. I understand your question but please rewatch the video and read the articles I provided in the description.

It isn't the far left, although it may have been made to look that way. Corporate interests and rich people like the Koch family (definitely on the right wing) want to see trains replaced by trucks to cause more oil use, tire use, purchase of trucks, etc., and have worked behind the scenes in many places to turn people against rail projects and public transportation projects.
