Perhaps you've heard the saying, "Disappointment is directly proportional to expectation." What that means is that the greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment if that expectation doesn't occur. A follow-up set of questions to such an idea would be to ask, "Why did you expect such a thing to occur? On what basis should such a thing occur?" False expectations can lead to disappointment, anger and even despair. Perhaps we need to question our expectations and hone our perspectives for a clearer vision of the past, present and future.
