The sound of the Falster pipe is fantastic. I think I may pick one up.

I've been eyeing one of these from this very vendor, so I highly appreciate the demonstration. It looks like a very well made piece too, which helps with the decision.

Thanks for the video. My lovely wife got me one for Christmas/Yule/midwinter festival. Can it be dismantled? Is there access to the reed for replacement or tuning? Grateful for any information. 👍

On mine the horn can be removed. The mouthpiece can also be removed. Be gentle with yours and see if they come apart 🙂

I just received my falster pipe from Mario Viking. It looks beautiful. However, I am having some trouble. The lower I go on the notes, the reed starts an annoying high pitch. I am relatively new to reed instruments. I have a bombard that begins to play well, but stops in a minute. I am more used to various flutes, fipples, side blown, notched and rim-blown. Do you have any advice?
@hrafnrikardsson793

Experiment with different breath pressures for each note. Ancient instruments can be odd like that 🙂

@@hrafnrikardsson793 Thanks for getting back. I have been trying different breath pressure. This will take some time. It takes a lot of breath, and even more so to get the low note, which is contrary to flutes that require less breath for lower notes. I did much better yesterday, though. In the meantime, I am sure my neighbors hate me. LOL

@@hrafnrikardsson793 I contacted Mario. He told me to gently lift the reed up. That did the trick. It will still occasionally make a high pitch squeal, but that usually happens when I am trying circular breathing. I am not getting the same pressure when I squeeze the air from my cheeks while inhaling through my nose. This will take some practice.

The scale is whatever the maker tunes it to upon creation, in this case, Key of G :)
