It is extremely time consuming and requires a good imagination to come up with various small twists that give the film character, so it often happens that ideas are borrowed from other films. As such, there is nothing wrong with being inspired, but to call it your own, you have to give it a signature that runs throughout the film.

@@Spongecake2006 So do I. The new version is cute and I'm enjoying it way more than I expected, but I really can't get used to some of the changes. The idea of the girls having electric power and tablets contrasts with the concept of a traditional school for witches. It also renders any situation or character similar to Ruby as completely unnecessary, as their role was to cause trouble with technology. The new version removed the hidden caring side to Miss Hardbroom, which I really liked because it made her feel like a very strict mother rather than the all aloof elitist witch from the new one, which also works fine, but it makes it difficult to connect with the character. Finally, I'm still having trouble with the sports teacher being a witch. I like the og version a bit more in this sense because the non-magical condition of the teacher made things interesting, showing the girls that not everything needs to be solved with magic. Anyway, both versions are great. Both have their pros and cons, things that some might like and things that others won't.

The new series was based more on the books but had a slightly modern edge the girls had Maglets a type of iPad, Ethel had an older sister named Esmeralda, Rowan Webb became a teacher at the school, they had a magic mirror for the girls to contact their famlies and all the staff were witches and wizards unlike in this version they had non magic people there

Harry Potter fans cope *so hard* over this show. No, the 1998-2001 Worst Witch was not influenced by Harry Potter. The books had only just come out in the UK and had only printed like 500 hard cover copies. This was already in development before any influence was possible. The mean "Snape" Potion Lady who secretly likes you, the potions class, the three bumbling fish-out-of-water main characters saving the day dynamic, the non-magic parents, the overall style and aesthetic, the "female Dumbledore" Cackle, the "female Malfoy" Ethel Hallow, her dad having ties to the school, the quidditch style flying. Why would a wizard school fly on brooms? Because it was largely influenced by this show and the book it's based on. The Fact JK goes out of her way *not* to mention Jill Murphy, her old books, or this pre-Harry Potter movie tv show says it all. She's mentioned everyone else. Except the biggest influence she had.

There's a sequel series featuring Mildred's young cousin which had a couple of seasons called the new worst witch, then there's the remake of this original version which is on netflix and (I think) bbc iplayer. There was also a sequel called Weirdsister College that had one season. For years I've been trying to find all episodes of each of them. I think I've only managed to find this original version and then of course the new version.

Other sources with no primary source say she was 16 or something near the end. Felicity jones looks like a nine year old while Mildred looks like a college girl randomly through the series. @@lisamcdonald1014 Odd post but their real ages confuse the hell out of me. Some sources say Mildred/Georgina was 18 and they stopped the fourth season because they were all aging too much (some obscure podcast "launching the pilot" dropped that as a bonus tidbit) and they created Weirdsister to keep the same actresses. This would contradict more official looking sources, but the podcast was accurate about everything else. Other sources, with no primary source, say she was 16 or 17 or something near the end. Which, again, is odd. Visually, Felicity jones looks like a nine year old while Mildred looks like a college girl randomly through the series to make things worse.
