it's pretty obvious, even in the earlier version of the series, ethel didn't like Mildred and had been scheming to ruin her life. I'm curious as to what a witch like Sabrina or willow would have done, in Mildred's place. willow would have turned ethel into a toad, I'm sure of it and Sabrina would most likely have used a sneezing spell on the offending witch.
