I believe this version shows a side of being just out frustrated with how much depression weighs us down, The original was showing more of the sad side of it. I like that this version shows a whole different level of constantly being trapped in the dark place where your mind can't escape. Both are very emotionally driven in different ways and help cope with depression in many ways.

The original hits you hard, so does this. But for different reasons. The original is sad. It's someone giving up. It portrays the sadness. This one shows the anger of depression. It's someone angry at the fact that they can't let go. They're angry at themselves for being depressed. The original is a cry for help. This is a demand for help. Both are amazing though

I seriously feel this so deep. I know there are so many people that say the original shows the sadness that Chester was feeling but I really identify more with the anger and frustration and desperation I feel in this version. I freaking love this so much.
@unfortunateRM2 жыл бұрын
I identified with both at one point. But the anger one was first for me. It's weird because it felt like the 5 stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, "depression" will say sadness, and acceptance. To me being frustrated shows a fighting attitude, fighting to cling on to what little threads of life you still have. Anger, screaming, and pain all prove your still alive. The silent cold feeling is an acceptance the pulls you under, slowly giving up as you feel no one is coming to save you. That final moment is the hardest because you're desperately in the need of help. Fortunately for me, someone extended their hand out, someone who understood and pulled me out of the ocean of deep despair. I love both of these styles more so now that I have experience both emotions deeply.

Rest in peace Chester, The greatest Singer of all time. The guy who had saved my life, The guy who is still helping me to battle depression. Whenever I had felt depressed, lonely, neglected, sad, hopeless, guilty, I used to lie over my bed and then I started playing Chester's song and within the touch of his voice, I used to feel hopeful and happy. His songs had not only showed me how to break habits, how to resist myself from drug abuse or drinking alcohol, But His songs showed me the way of light. How to overcome, How to achieve anything, How to feel happy. Yeh. I could not make friends at my school or coachings. Every one used to make fun of me. Within these 10 years I had lost many of my beloved people. 3 years ago, I lost my beloved cousin whom I used to recall as my sister. 4 Years ago, I lost Both of my Grandfathers. Not to mention, My favorite TV celebrities. But Chester's voice and his tremendous meaningful lyrics used to act like magical remedies for those scarces. I will never know myself until I do this on my own And I will never feel anything else, until my wounds are healed I will never be anything 'til I break away from me I will break away, I'll find myself today" This song used to fill the gap of my loneliness and whenever I used listen to this song, I would find my cheek wet. Chester was like a member of my family. I had a plan to meet him one day. But that day had converted to a fairy tale. I lost him forever. Perhaps, From Outside everyone is thinking that I am happy and ok. But from inside, I am virtually empty now. Perhaps, No one will be able occupy his place, No one will be able to make comparision between themselves and Him. And while writting this post, I was crying like that 7 years old Saiful. 😭💔Why Chester Why? You could live for us. Millions of people like me loves you. Your life was priceless to us. You gave me the light You touched my life, Your legacy will be immortalized. Rip Chester. See You Again.

I'll be honest. I was one of those that asked why LP made a new album in a more pop-style. But after listening to the music, I could feel his pain. I listened to One More Light the night before his death was announced, and when I read online that he had died I understood. These songs are his last words, to us, to keep holding on. Even if there is hurt, and pain, and all these problems dragging us down, just hold on. I know I'm trying to, even though my demons are fighting me. I'll fight back. And you'll fight back your demons too..

Now I get why Chester didn't want it to be Rock. The more I listen to the original the more the song feels sad. That sad melody was how it was sung in his head until his death. Don't get me wrong, this Rock version is great as well, but I think the original is so much better right now when you know Chester was feeling then. He wasn't feeling any energy, but instead felt no energy because of all the things he was going through. For all those reasons, I think i prefer the original as well.

I will say this, as someone who has complained about missing Linkin Park after Hybrid Theory and Meteora, I respect the band for giving me the music that they did that I enjoyed and loved, I respect the fact that they want to experiment with new sounds. I only wish they would give us one or two songs on each album that throw back to the original sound they brought to the table with those first two albums. Many other bands break up, or take a permanent hiatus the difference is I feel most bands have others out there that bring a similar sound to the table. Other bands that keep the fire lit for the genera and sub-genera they represent, and sound they provide to their fan-base. Those help to fill the gap when this happens. The problem is there is literally no one else that has the same sound as Linkin Park did in the early days, NO ONE, they left me and others that feel like this with a musical void in our souls that is screaming for new lyrics delivered in that familiar and beloved style while calling out to current world events, feelings, sociopolitical issues, etc... So I'm holding out hope for one or two songs on this next album that may give me that. Hold out hope with me... Until then this cover is amazing. Regardless of my dislike for the originals sound and tempo, Chester and the boys can write some good lyrics still. Thank you Fame On Fire for taking the time to deliver this awesome rendition of a lyrically complex and wonderful song. Please when the album releases pick a few more songs and rock them out for us, we will be waiting eagerly.

Part of them taking a chance on new sounds is to express different things. They got more fans. Who even took it upon themselves to look into their older albums. Linkin park is a band that even new and old fans go out and buy old albums for and new. They are a band that survived change. As time goes on and changes so do those around us. From ashes to new is a amazing band to look up indeed! Found them on accident. Amazing. I will always love linkin park. But t here are reasons Chester had one more light the way he did......

I like this version and the original. Sadness has 2 faces: depression and rage. If you can't honestly see that, then you probably haven't felt what it's like to lose a love one (granted, I did watch this one after Back To You but that's besides the point). Now my only concern about it was, the duet, couldn't exactly hear the girl's voice through the singer but it was nice to have a soft tone in the song. 😇

For those saying that this is how the song should've originally been done, no. This song was intended to embody the feeling of being so utterly defeated that you barely had the energy to even sing. It wasn't meant to be another angry or frustrated song about the world around us. It was meant to be about the inner demons that are inside our heads, the things others can't see, and the feeling that even though you know things aren't a total mess, you can't help feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and that you aren't strong enough to keep standing. So, no. This was a great cover, but Heavy was perfect the way it was. You could feel how sorrowful and lonely it was, like Chester was exhausted and ready to throw in the towel, and he did.

Honestly I feel like people need to back off Linkin Park. I have been a fan of them ever since I can remember, yea I do miss the old Linkin Park where they were alternative rock but look at who is listening to music these days. There are so many people who follow pop more than anything and some bands could be trying to adjust (not to say this is exactly what they are doing). Other bands are trying new things and switch it up. I feel like we need to give Linkin Park some credit because "Heavy" is not a bad song at all I just think people are stuck in the old rock days for them. I get and understand they are an alternative rock band but the music industry is hard to stay in for as long as they have and sometimes readjustments are needed to stay in it. This is all just my opinion if you disagree that is perfectly okay, everyone is entitled for their own opinion. I think Fame On Fire did a really good cover as they have with all their others but I do think Linkin Park needs more credit then people are giving them.

This feels like it comes from the soul, with true emotion, and I can't appreciate this enough. Thank you for this

Name's Rain Paris.
@tomparker82824 жыл бұрын
She must've done something that pissed them off, because the title and description originally had her name in it. They then removed it and replaced the description with just the word "nope" for a while. Then they changed it to what it is now with no mention of her. I don't know what she did, but seems pretty immature.

Amazing Rock cover! I love seeing Rain Paris on a song like this. Her voice is perfect!! RIP Chester
@abidsabanovic81887 жыл бұрын
As someone stated below, the rock version delivers it so differently. I think about the lyrics(I'm giving it a lot more attention) when it's not rock and the voice is in the focus, I understand the text so better and my attention is focused on it. This version is awesome, don't get me wrong, i sincerely think it's really awesome and good job for doing it. All i'm saying is that the original version delivers what Chester probably wanted to deliver. I think of the whole album as a suicide note and sadly it gives it so much more meaning. Again, this version is awesome, keep it up guys. Rest in peace Chester, I really hope I'm going to see you one day.

So many arguments here about which version is better, the sad original or the angry cover. Depression hits different people in different ways, some feel sadness, some feel frustration, some feel helplessness, some feel anger... so I think everyone with any form of depression, those who know someone who suffers from it, and those who understand the condition, can relate to either version. The meaning of the lyrics doesn't change, the message that they give is the same, it's just looking at the world through a different set of eyes and expressing a different set of emotions. Neither is "better" (they are both excellent renditions), they just strike different nerves in each of us. Respect for Chester for wearing his heart on his sleeve and finding an outlet for his emotions. Respect to Fame On Fire for giving us some awesome twists on songs we know and love. For another take on it, try my mashup kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2Wyh5qqftyLac0

Good job recreating the song "Heavy." Chester would have loved this. Fame on Fire has great potential. I miss you dearly Chester, but know that you are flying high with the angels. Thank you for being the driving force that pulled me out of depression and suicide. You words were heard across nations.

This is a good cover, damn good really, but it completely changes the mood and emotion that Chester and LP wanted the song to show. This was defiant and angry, which again made for a bomb ass cover for sure, but that's not what Chester was feeling when Heavy was created. He wanted help and support and love, which a nu-metal version of the song wouldn't have conveyed. Yeah OML sounded different from the HT era Linkin Park, but it was still LP, fans didn't have to like or even listen to it, but to go out of their way to shit on it? We all see how that ended, damn guys.

You don't think people going through shit are angry that they got to that point? Hmm...okay then.
@rogan43387 жыл бұрын
If there's anyone to blame for Chester's death, it's the monster that raped him for years, not the people who hated OML. Chester himself acknowledged that he had a lot of support for his new album plus he still appreciated his old fans even if they didn't like the new album. Chris Cornell's death was a big part of his suicide too. As for the cover, to me it's symbolic, the nu metal instrumentation represents the heavy thoughts in your head and the singing/almost yelling is like trying to fight it or make sense of it; to each their own, but as someone with depression I feel like it describes depression in a unique but accurate way.

Logan Shuman good thoughts. I agree with you. With heavy guitars and intense vocals it also conveys a sense of anxiety in the music which someone under such pressure may feel
@Oegyeindraws7 жыл бұрын
I am so sorry for the hate you received for this comment. I can only agree with you in your opinion. Sure, it wasn't Hybrid Theory or Meteora, heck it wasn't even Living Things, but it was still Linkin Park.
