Ah, yes, Texmexium, a substance that revolutionized taco filling forever.

The Famicom graphics really jumped up a notch in that segment. 😆

Texmexium sounds like a core component for space nachos, next to Pace Picante sauce.

So, almost nobody knows how to play this game to actually finish it (not surprisingly, seeing how obscure it is). You need to assemble around 30 mechs and then you can enter the tower in the middle. The best way to win is just to look for parts and leave enemies alone until you get the best mech and want some EXP; just search for mech parts. Each enemy wave becomes stronger and stronger, so there's no point fighting them fast. Then it's time for an action segment final boss, and that's it. Not a good game at all, regardless, but I just wanted to explain how to play it for those interested!

I had the details on how to enter the tower but really it came down to grinding stuff up so as I recall I kept it simple. It hadn't occurred to me to just run around doing nothing forever, though.

Doing a semi-pacifist run is certainly the easiest. The enemy mechs will likely run out of fuel and wait for you to put them out of their misery, once you're done salvaging parts and weapons. You're done with the game after a couple hours that way. It's probably for the best.

I will never, ever believe that Compile didn't just slap the Gunhed name onto a game they already had in the pipeline. There's literally no connection to the film there. I guess that's one advantage FC Gunhed has, if you count fidelity to dodgy source material as a virtue.
@RndStranger2 жыл бұрын
It's always been my assumption that Compile did that.

Someone knew that a giant blockbuster film two decades later was going to use the term "unobtanium" unironically and decided that they had to pre-emptively one-up that film with an even dumber term, that's the only explanation I can think of for Texmexium. The Famicom didn't get the good Gunhed game, but Compile will make up for that soon enough 😉

1) The next time I cook my chipotle vegan chili, I'm going to add some Texmexium to it 2) "Asult Head" is one keyboard letter away from a very different type of internet video, indeed

Texmexium seems really hard to say in Japanese

With the sub-vocalized -u sounds, it becomes a kind of sing-song non-sense.

WOW that's impressive for a Famic--- oh that's the PC Engine version, haha. *anyway* , texmexium, really?! (I knew this was based on an IP, but didn't know about that part lol) yeah I'm surprised compile didn't go with another shmup for this game that's usually their forte! (or do what they did with guardic gaiden make it a half-zelda like IDK) doesn't seem like a good strategy game.

Seems exploitable, and I swear that Gunhed was an original IP
