We were a Disney family. My wife and her family were hardcore and had gone over a dozen times, and once married, I joined in the fun. 2016 was our last, best D vacation. 2018 was a wake up call, when we really began to see the Woke, and the pricing was getting worse, and the fun was lacking. That was our last Orlando Disney vacation. I think 2020 was our last at a D property, at their Hilton Head Island resort. When Gina was fired, I dropped D+ that day. I'm still a part of the 501st, and love (old) Star Wars, but we haven't done anything to support Disney since 2020 and until they completely remove all current high ups, ask forgiveness from their Woke, and bring the family back into Disney, then nope - we've switched our allegiance to Universal.

We (wife, 9 yo, myself) went to Orlando 2 years ago. We hadn't been to WDW before, and were very excited. That 1 day at Disney Hollywood studios almost cost as much as 5 days at universal. Granted we built 2 light sabers and 3 droids, but were so disappointed in having to have reservations for everything, it was my son's birthday and they were out of buttons, and we dealt with the rudest employee I have encountered. We won't be going back anytime soon.

I was at WDW last week so last week of October and it was dead. I spent more money on popcorn bucket refills than Lighting Lane. I didn’t pay for any Lightning Lanes. None it was great got on Avatar Flight of Passage in the standby line and we were in the first room in 13 minutes, yes 13 minutes. Longest wait we were in was 38 minutes for Peter Pan and the ride went down when we were in line.

@@louc8782 Parks got overcrowded. You can do 2 things. One is to understand and care about what your park means to people, and just sell a limited amount of tickets for each day, keeping prices the same. Seems to the what a lot of parks in Europe do. Or, you can be the cynical number crunching MBA that you are, and just raise the price of tickets until park attendance drops to manageable levels. Both will work in the short time. But in the long time... Disney used to be the gold standard for hospitality, and a bucket list item for many families who aren't lucky to be near one of the parks. But if they price themselves out of the market, and a park visit becomes unattainable, people will just tune out. Their lackluster lineup of movies of late hasn't helped either. Disney is still perceived as a strong brand, but Eiger and his ilk shat the bed they slept in. In time, if nothing changes, Disney will become irrelevant.

I have been to Disney Springs, but I haven’t been to the Theme Parks with my family in over a year- except for one “free” day courtesy of a cast member. I was a PassHolder for 20+ years, but refused to renew our passes last year following price increases coupled with service & quality decreases. And now I have to drop an additional $50 a day just on myself to have a decent experience in the park. No thanks.

I’m a local with a pass. Went to Epcot and Studios yesterday. The only actual crowded area was Boys to Men concert area in Epcot. No waits of over an hour in either park and just the 4 to 5 biggies. I rode the skyway cab by myself at 5pm. Yes, there are a lot of people but not near the usual fall crowds and that’s coming off a Disney race weekend.

Disney has a system that monitors the Magic Bands as people go through the line, so they know exactly how long the wait is. But that is sent to a ride manager who picks the time on the sign manually. They normally add 10-20 minutes because no one ever complains if the wait time is less than advertised. But it also means the wait time graph is skewed “up” from what wait times actually are.

We stayed at the Grand Californian a couple years ago. It had been our “dream” to stay there. Aside from being maybe 10 minutes closer to Disneyland than our favorite non-Disney hotel (Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel) there was absolutely NOTHING special about the Grand Californian. No amenities, we even had to PAY for Disney Channel! Definitely not worth the extra $500 per night…

My wife just broke through the cat and cooking videos on KZbin and discovered the dark side of government and corporations. She's been planning a $12k trip to Disney since half way through our last trip. Last week she suddenly says she's not sure about going to Disney. I feel like an indian watching Columbus come ashore proclaiming he discovered a new land. Then, last night she tells me it would be half price to go to Universal and with buying season passes. Technically less than half since we wouldn't be paying for fast passes. I told her before we went to Disney the first time what kind of company it was but she still made me go. Then i told her how much cheaper Universal was and she kept planning Disney. If my wife is any indicator, the lower attendance at Disney might be a slow burn as people slow on the uptake finally figure out what's up.

Yeah, that is a huge part of it. But Igers mismanagement is also a huge part of it too. The parks live or die based in large part on how popular Disneys entertainment IP is. Right now, Star Wars is in the dumps as is basically every other IP Disney owns. If nobody cares about Disneys entertainment IP, there isn't any reason to visit the parks.

The biggest problem? Two words; high prices. My next door neighbor took his kids back in March for what was supposed to be a 5 night, six day trip. They planned out their budget based on the prices the travel agent - who handed a lot of Disney package trips - told them to expect. They had to come back after the 4th day because they ran out of the money they had saved up for two years in order to take that vacation. He said everything was about 25% more than what they were expecting.

starting around 2012 there were so many brazilians going to disney the bank of brazil opened a branch on Idrive. since their economic collapse you rarely see brazilian tourist at the parks or in the area anymore. They use to go to disney by the bus load. several dozen if not hundreds of those huge coach buses daily. there was a whole micro economy built catering just to the brazilians. I never saw anything like that.

I just recently got back from Disney Aulani. I was going to see if the service at the hotel was still as good as it has been in the past and I’m happy to say that it was. The only reason we stayed there is because we have DVC, which we bought about 15 years ago, and would not have to pay the skyrocketing prices out there. If the hotel was not as fun, I was gonna sell my DVC. But it is a beautiful place to stay at while in Hawaii. Right now this is the only thing Disney I do anymore. We used to have the passes for both Florida and California parks And now we don’t even have the Southern California equivalent. We go to Knotts Berry Farm instead. It makes me so sad what has happened to Disney, but I hold on to the family memories that we did have when Disney was good. I would love to make a bumper sticker that says “I remember when Disney was good, do you?“

They took away DAS so I have no reason to make myself suffer and pay them for the pleasure. Universal welcomes me with their disability benefits so we got an AP there instead. When I went to Tokyo Japan I went coach on Japan airlines and the service was top notch. I booked to a decent Japanese Hotel and went to Tokyo Disney and that costed me at least 2 thousand and a half. The tickets for Tokyo Disney is cheap about 50 or 60 dollars each to visit the two theme parks. I will say that the Tokyo Disney Hotels are just as expensive as the ones in the states.

It's $300 per person per day if you go in the summer and eat there and use the lightning lane a few times. So that is $1800 per day for a family of 6 for 10 rides (if you are lucky). About $150 per ride. So when you are on a ride for 1 minute you know it's $150 for that minute. Puts it in perspective.

Why are these influencers not taking into consideration or looking at what Disneyworld are doing to their disabled guests, families are cancelling their passes in droves due to their new DAS system which pretty much cancels out 90% of disabilities and then Disney tells you that for an extra premium you could always purchase their lightening lanes instead!! Absolutely not. If our money is not good enough at the gate then it isn't good enough for these premiums. It may be good for th locals etc, but if they continue to exclude disabilities etc then Disney will have to claw back these costs elsewhere and that's gonna be the annual passes, the day rates, food, merch etc. our family are not looking at going again in the future and we have gone for the past 18 years.

too expensive and the new stuff sucks. I broke down and took the family. It was almost 3X as expensive as pre covid.. The lightning lanes and apps, mean one person in the group spends the trip with thier head in thier phone. Plus splash mountain is boring. Tron coaster is short and less exciting than slinky dog, Not enough to do at Holywood studios and the renos at epcot are cheap and not up to what I expect from disney. Definately not worth the prices and just too freaking woke... The magic is gone. It is a shell of itself.

They keep raising prices and then the guests can’t come because it’s to expensive and then the park fails and gets shut down and it’s all Disneys fault

Disney plays the line flow rate game as well, by taking out carriers and slowing the runs by seconds as well as increasing the run gaps. All of this saves on number of attendants and maintenance flows when preventative maintenance intervals is based on operating hrs or # runs performed.

Well they need workers constantly telling people to keep moving, move, " your kids being mad, hello! Say something " lol like common sense stuff lol. Like " hey! JUST went to Universal for HHN with my daughter. We had SO MUCH FUN with maybe 30 min of pre-planning. We were not even tempted to drive over to Disney, as we wanted a stress free vacation. Disney has lost its magic, and gives off negative vibes all round. Even the cast members are rude and unhelpful now. Hotels are shabby and rundown. Cabana Bay was 100 x cleaner than any deluxe at Disney now, even with refurb. I accidently left my 300 hair dryer, i called the next day and the security team FEDEXED it to me for free! Excellent cast member service and friendly atmosphere. Disney has failed.

My daughter and her friends went last week for MNSSHP 10/29-11/2 they said it wasn’t crowded at all until the marathon occurred on Friday/Sat (11/1-11/2) and were shocked how they walked onto all the rides, basically

We went in June. My wife broke her arm on a ride doing exactly what she was told. Spent most our day at Celebration ER getting X-rays and cast. What did WDW do? We got a $100 gift card. 😡
