Chief isn't being transparent to preserve a defense for a civil lawsuit. I get it but someone was K!LLED! It shows a severe lack of empathy. That's on top of the preexisting failure of leadership to appropriately screen and train their officers. It further widens the divide between police and the public. They should and must think hard about starting to allow parking enforcement to deal with traffic stops and violations after all they do deal with parking violations and direct traffic which is not that often. And let police officers focus on more serious felony crime. To be wrongfully murdered for something so minor nor it being a real crime. Even if victim refuses to take ticket, it’s just as easy to mail it out and what’s more important i mean extremely important add military mental toughness training to police is in training list. And if is in any fears for their lives due to them making a traffic stop just because of a car accident, busted tail light or not wearing a seat belt then they need and must find a different line of work, you can not be an police officer and is constantly claiming to be in fear of the smallest and minor things.

Challenge the police in court. Challenging the police on the street will end up being beat up or killed. It is a lesson I learned at 19 years of age. The police video should not be released to the public until after the decision whether there was probable cause or until after a trial if it goes to that. Releasing the video to the public to early hinders the chance for a fair trial. If however there was true injustice here then they need held accountable

They don’t even have to sign a traffic citation… you can still give him the ticket or traffic court summons even if the person refuses to sign the ticket… it’s a stupid reason to argue with a suspect for not signing the ticket in the first place… There is usually a little box on the ticket the officer can check that says “Refused to sign” or the officer can write that on the ticket. This detail of the ticket is all the family needs to prove that this argument shouldn’t have happened in the first place. The attorney for the family should use this detail to obtain justice for the family... Not checking “Refuse to sign” box proves negligence and a failure to execute duty…

Making a crime out of refuse to sign a citation/ ticket is ridiculous. Refusing to sign any document is a citizen's right. A bodycam showing that the cop gave a citizen the citation/ticket should be enough proof. Cops need to start using common sense. The cop should've allowed the citizen to sign the ticket he once he hanged his mind. Physical contact was not necessary. Once the cop got physical, and the man was complaining of pain and his inability to breathe, the cop should've stopped the physical contact and called EMS. The cop should've also considered the man's age. I believe that cops should always work in a minimum group of two, that way a partner cop and step in when his colleague is going overboard. The cop is still new in law enforcement; he has only been a cop for less than three years. I think that cops should have a minimum of 10 years before working alone: I still recommend that cops work in a minimum group of two. A newer officer should be paired with officers that have a minimum of 10 years in law enforcement. The cop should be banned from working in law enforcement, charged, and serve prison time for contributing to the deacon's death.
